I have a couple years of experience working at my local Kumon as a student tutor, another year as a peer tutor during high school, and more experience in university where I volunteered for various positions that involved leadership, organization, and constantly interacting with others, whether it be for planning or teaching.

Personality:

I have leadership experience both from volunteering at my local Boys scouts regiment and volunteering with Younglife youth organisation. I’m an enthusiastic and energetic person with a passion for leading and discovering new cultures.
Having volunteered as a camp councillor I have had teaching experience, whilst also keeping the safety of the children my top priority.
I have also ran numerous summer schemes at my local dance school for dancers aged 3-16. This built my management and quick thinking skills, as often dancers would lose interest in a task. This would require me to adjust tasks to ensure engagement from every student.

My name is Grace peers. I am 26 years old. I’m from the Wirral, England. I have a degree in criminology and Psychology and 120-hours in TEFL course at The TEFL org. I am passionate and driven when it comes to developing children's skills in the English language. Last year, I taught English in Vietnam in a small town called Ha tinh.

During this time, I have delivered engaging lessons, created customised tests, lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and interactive games to enhance student learning. I have worked with public and private school so I’m familiar with large classes sizes. I motivate stronger students by having conversations with them and helping them speak more fluently. With the weaker students, I adapt my technique by building their confidence, creating a safe learning space, use fun and engaging activities and give them the extra support they need.

In my classroom, I focus on making my lessons fun, interactive and engaging. I believe students learn the best when they are active participants so I incorporate games, songs and stories. I love to use visual aids, gestures and props to make lesson more memorable. I have a teddy that when the student hold only they can give the answer or talk. I have taught a range of ages but my most experience is with children from 3 to 10.

I am friendly, positive, and confident person, I put my heart into everything I do. I am enthusiastic about my job which rubs off on my students. Having great organisation helps a lot in the classroom as I have to juggle a lot of tasks and help me mention a level of professionalism. I create a warm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes. My goal is to build their confidence in speaking and understanding English. Therefore I always celebrate progress and make sure every students feel supported. I am adaptable individual and have a thirst to experience different cultures and countries.

I believe TPR (total Physical response) is a really good way to teach younger students as
TPR makes meaning clear and memorable. It stimulates both hemispheres of the brain. One way i have used this in my classroom is when teaching grade 1 ( 6 year old) about action verbs. We played Simon says. This along side drilling the vocabulary helped them remember the action verbs after having two weeks of from school.

Some student may feel tired or unmotivated. But to overcome this i make sure: i show an interest in the students’ learning; have well-prepared lesson plans; build rapport with them; are enthusiastic; use lots of intonation in my voice; and avoid shouting, my students should hopefully keep interested. Rewards can also help, simply by giving students stickers for completing a task. I found this really useful especially with capybara stickers in Vietnam.

I am passionate about education and truly love contributing to the community, helping students build a brighter future. My role as a teacher is important to me as i believe every student should have a chance of education. I want every child to have a chance to succeed.
