I am an experienced EFL educator with over five years of teaching experience in South Korea through the EPIK program, additional experience tutoring adult learners online, and current university teaching experience in Japan. Throughout my career, I have worked with students ranging from elementary school children to working professionals and university students.

My teaching style emphasizes clear communication, student engagement, and creating a comfortable learning environment where learners can build confidence and develop practical language skills. I am adaptable, culturally aware, and enjoy building positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.

I am a passionate, devoted Music and ESL teacher with over 32 years of music teaching experience and 2 years as an ESL teacher. I love teaching young children, but am willing to teach all ages and levels. I am patient and kind and love sharing my knowledge and skills.

With experience teaching at the university level, mentoring young adults, and working across cultures for much of my life, I am confident in my ability to create an engaging and supportive classroom environment for Korean students.

My teaching experience includes instructing university students, where I developed structured lessons designed to build communication skills and confidence. I have also volunteered as a mentor to young adults, helping them develop academic and professional skills. Growing up in Kenya and later living in the United States has given me a strong understanding of cultural differences and communication styles. My solo travel experiences in Mexico and South Korea have further developed my independence and ability to adjust quickly to new environments.

I am particularly excited about teaching in South Korea. After visiting the country, I developed a strong appreciation for its culture and community. I am currently teaching myself Korean to better connect with students and colleagues and to demonstrate my long-term commitment to cultural integration.
In addition to my teaching experience, I hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which reflects my organization, discipline, and ability to manage time effectively; skills that are essential in a fast-paced school environment.

I have worked with children for years. This was done as an Assistant Instructor for Teakwon-do, Dance Instructor, Camp Counsellor, and Teaching Assistant. More recently, I worked as a Graduate assistant at a university, holding office hours, providing additional instruction and grading students' assignments.
I am an easy-going person and able to adjust on a moment's notice. I am easy to talk to and know how to find common ground with people. While working as a teacher is new for me, my wealth of experience working with children should help me with that. I am also good at mentoring people, whether that is friends asking about something that I have previously done, or a new colleague just starting a new job.

As a CELTA-qualified and native English-speaking educator with over five years of teaching and mentoring experience, I am eager to apply for an EFL position where I can utilize my expertise in delivering engaging, student-centered instruction.
