Sarah: United States: Mar 01, 2023

My name is Sarah, and I am a fully licensed and qualified teacher, with over six years of full-time teaching experience in three countries. I have a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in Education, as well as a state-issue teaching certification from the U.S.

My focus as a teacher is on providing students with the critical thinking skills they need to analyze and hypothesize about the world around them and their roles in it. I hope to give students a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world, culminating in their respect and understanding of others. I foster a creative and collaborative nature amongst students, fueled by curiosity and a determination to question. My goal is for students to be highly self-motivated and self-regulated in their education and beyond.

April: United States: Jan 09, 2023

April: United States: Jan 09, 2023

I have been an educator in three different US states, across different geographic regions in the country, and have served populations in rural, urban, and suburban districts. My student populations have varied from majority white, to majority Black, to majority Hispanic and Native. A constant throughout my
varied experiences is the transformative power of building strong relationships with school stakeholders. Some of my greatest joys in working with students are seeing the hard work of trust-building, collaboration, and respect pay off in ways that allow students to fully be themselves and succeed. The diversity of my student populations also inspired me to start learning Spanish and to become certified in TEFL so as to better support the needs of my English Language Learners. Even in my current position, I have found these skills to have a positive impact on my students. When playing games with my students, I choose question sets with basic, introductory vocabulary to minimize any disadvantage for students who may not have acquired more advanced English vocabulary. I’ve also been more mindful about adding realia such as photos, videos, and objects to illustrate our lesson topics.
As a School Counselor, my job includes teaching social and emotional skills to students across different ages and skill levels. Throughout my career, I would teach 3-6 classes per day in grade levels ranging from preschool to 8th grade. These classes would range in size from 10-28 students, each with their own individual needs. I have always felt a partnership with my students and work with them to determine what topics and skills to teach. I use needs assessments and student surveys to get a holistic picture of my students’ needs and what is relevant to them. In addition to using those needs assessments for determining lesson topics and student needs, I believe that level of student feedback allows me to know more about my students that I might not learn organically in a lesson. It also shows students how important their voice is in their education when I apply their feedback into the classroom. For students with more individual needs, I meet with them individually or in a small group to work on more specialized skills. These lessons are particularly rewarding to me as an educator, because it allows me to see student growth up-close and build closer relationships with my students.

Beverly: United States: Jan 15, 2023

I have been a classroom teacher for sixteen years. I teach early childhood, elementary, and middle school students.

I like my students to have fun in my classroom but I also expect proper classroom behavior. I encourage my students with positive feed-back when a task is done well and understanding when they aren’t understand the lesson.

I am adaptable with both what and how I teach. I like being challenged, to a point, in order to keep my job interesting. I am dependable. I will ask for advice when needed.

Stephen: Canada: Jan 01, 2023

I am a licensed Canadian teacher with 7 years of ESL experience. I have a Master's in Education and an Honors Bachelor in English. I have just finished teaching in Japan for six years on the JET program. I enjoy speech coaching. One of my students ranked in the top 20 of Japan's National Junior High Speech Contest (2019). Before that, I worked at a reputable private Kindergarten in Korea. I have also worked as a substitute teacher and a tutor in Canada. I have taught children from ages 4 to 15. I prefer working with elementary school aged children, but kindergarten and older are fine, too.

Kyra: New Zealand: May 14, 2023

Throughout my years of teaching experience, I have developed many skills in communication and relationship building. I have taught all age groups in a variety of subjects such as swimming, lifesaving, music, English, English language learning, social studies, and math. Altogether, my experience is well over 1000 hours, with 1 year spent within schools working with kids from grade 1-12 during my university practicums and volunteer work. Continuing to grow and learn, I will continue to act as a student, for I will learn just as much from my students while I teach them. Professional development and confidence are my assets, as well as interpersonal skills and class management. Through my education degree, I have taken courses to develop my experience teaching English language learners. Both online and in person, I taught English language learners and my passion for teaching has grown. Thank you for taking the time to consider me.

Muneebah: United Kingdom: Feb 01, 2023

Muneebah: United Kingdom: Feb 01, 2023

I am interested in the English language teaching position abroad in South Korea. I am known to be a reliable hardworking individual that is always happy and positive. My passion for teaching stemmed from volunteering as an associate member for NCS which is a personal and social development programme for 15-17 year-olds in the UK. I had to conduct ice breakers, help design a social action project as well as support students in various physical, educational and social activities. I demonstrated my excellent team working skills, problem-solving skills and I believe I had the ability to motivate and inspire the students. I believe I have had a lot of experience in teaching EFL informally which involved practising conversational English at different levels, correcting English homework as well as helping with preparation for the TOEIC exam.

I have recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a 2:1 honours in Korean Studies. During my degree I was able to study at Hanyang University and experience living in South Korea. As you can tell from my degree, I have a genuine interest in Korea and its beautiful culture. As I have previously lived in Korea, I know what to expect and would like to learn more about Korea and travel to places I have never explored before. Due to the combination of my desire to teach and my love for Korea, I believe Korea is the best place for me to teach EFL. I believe if given the opportunity to teach EFL in Korea, I can develop and further my career in teaching. The most rewarding thing is to see prospective students progress in the English language.

As I have a large family it means that I interact with a lot of young children very often. I am known by family and friends as getting along well with kids, making up exciting stories, leading fun activities as well as giving good discipline when needed. I have a bright personality, a lot of energy and patience. I hope that I am able to have the opportunity to bring these qualities into a classroom and make learning a fun and educational experience for students.
