I consider myself as a polite, confident and well mannered individual with a desire to succeed. I have a positive attitude not only in my work ethic but also in general and always ready to work as a team member. I can approach all situations in a professional manner and instilled confidence in those around me. During my online teaching training experience i have gained valuable experience that will be of great use in the classrooms, i have gained to be patient and understanding, but also calm when dealing with difficult classroom situations and how to deal with them.

Though this is my first year in South Korea as a teacher, I have been teaching both in and out of the classroom for the past 7 years.

I obtained my ESL certification in 2015 and have since travelled abroad to teach before coming to South Korea. I developed a passion for teaching after completing a summer program in Puebla, Mexico where I taught English and French to children and adults of all ages. This was my first classroom experience and I loved making connections with my students- watching them grow and become proud and confident in their progress.

I find myself to be a very easy-going person that gets along well with others, and I manage my time wisely. I am very detailed oriented, and adapt well to new situations.

I think I have a lot of strengths that would make me a perfect candidate for an ESL teacher in South Korea. In terms of actual classroom experience, that is where I am lacking but I make up for it with a passion for teaching – the only reason I went to university was so I could get a degree in order to obtain a visa and apply for ESL teaching roles. I have studied abroad and lived for two years in different countries during my studies. I lived in Australia as well as Japan, and this allowed me to meet and connect with people from all around the world, which made meeting new people and making new friends one of my biggest strengths. This also made me amazing at adapting to life in a foreign country and it made me realise that that is what I’m meant to be doing with my life – living in a distant land and helping people with their English at the same time. In terms of my personality, I’m a very patient and understand person, especially when it comes to people learning English as their second language – as it’s important to understand that not everyone can pick up linguistics at the same speed. I’d describe myself as kind-hearted and a passionate person, with a great work ethic and tonnes of motivation – this is what I’m hoping to instil in my students! As for skills, I did my degree in International Tourism Management with Japanese, so I like learning different languages and interacting with people from different countries and cultures (in a nutshell). I feel as if my life’s trajectory is pulling me towards English teaching and in my heart it feels like this I what I’m truly meant to be doing with the next decade of my life, so I’m hoping one day I can call a country in Asia home and what better place to start than South Korea?!

I have experience working as a sunday school teacher for 3 years (on a voluntary basis). I really enjoyed this experience so that is why I would like to now teach English in Korea, I'd like to further this experience. I have experience as a volunteer mathematics tutor. My students range from middle school to high school. These tutorial sessions are on Fridays and Saturdays, and are 2 hours long with a break in between. During my time working with young people, it became evident that children find me approachable when establishing rapport. Upon further working together, I have found students comfortable in making mistakes, due to my correcting by example and allowing for a comfortable environment for learning.

I am a native English speaker, Business graduate and recently became TEFL certified. I have a background working in finance and have helped train new employees in several of my previous roles. While in the beginning of my college career I was placed in a dorm with three people that have never been to the United states, two from South Korea and one from Japan. While becoming friends, I often caught myself teaching them English and helping them with their grammar and pronunciation. I soon grew to be very happy and joyful teaching them and it gave me a great sense of pride seeing the progress they have made. They would always tell me I was a great teacher and the feeling of accomplishment has never left me.
