Not only was it about providing feedback on personal statements and explaining IELTS examinations and admission processes but also bridging the cultural gap, which has the potential to alienate international students from UK study. It has given me immense acumen in terms of UK admissions and using my unique experience I know I can provide international students valuable insight into UK Higher Education, to help them make the most out of their time in school. I also gained an Assistant Level certificate with the British Council in educational counselling for UK universities, which has provided me with even further insight into the international student journey. Beyond teaching, working with students for admissions consulting and essay advising are certainly within my capabilities, so I would be particularly interested to hear about opportunities with students at high school level.

I'm flexible, kind and professional. I enjoy teaching ESL to children, I find it to be very rewarding. I've been teaching ESL in Korea for 3 years now.

I have four years experience working as a Foreign Language English Teacher in Romania, working in the Brasov area during 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. During my time within this position, I was responsible for the planning and undertaking of English classes for children of all ages (8-18), as well as the planning and supervision of other, non-English related activities such as crafts, sports and performing arts. This role allowed me to use my outgoing personality to make a real difference in the lives of children who were learning English for use in their futures. My experiences in Romania allowed me to develop a skillset including, but not limited to, clear communication, timekeeping, initiative and problem solving. I believe that these skills would make me a great candidate for a role teaching English as a foreign language in Korea.

I also have 18 months experience as an online English Tutor. During this period I used online platforms to teach English to both foreign and domestic English students. This role was a way of furthering and improving on the skills that I acquired in Romania, as well as allowing me to utilise my proficiency in technology as a teaching tool. This role was key in allowing me to develop the skill of adaptability, ensuring that, despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the students were still able to receive top-tier English classes which were open and convenient to both them and myself.

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2020 and went on to complete a 120-hour TEFL course shortly after. I have always wanted to work with children and during my time in school I completed a weeks work experience at my local primary school, assisting teachers in their classrooms. It was here that I gained my understanding of why people choose to teach; simple tasks such as encouraging a child to tackle a hard word in a book they're reading can have the biggest impact, and there is nothing like seeing the look of accomplishment on a child face once they get it right. I feel that my passion for helping others, taking on new challenges and the skills I have acquired whilst completing my degree and TEFL course make me the ideal candidate for this role.

Since graduating from university with a second-class bachelor of science degree, I have been living and working in Liverpool, a city that is known as the culture capitol of the United Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people and talking to them, understanding their lives and being able to connect on a human level, and share experiences and cultures. This is the reason why I strongly wish to teach English in South Korea. As a person, I believe that I have a wide range of experience in both academia and in a professional capacity. Having completed a degree in psychology with honours, I have learnt a lot about different cultures as well as human behaviour. In my final year, I conducted my own piece of research which involved collecting, analysing and compiling data into a final research project which demanded good time management and work discipline.

As well as my degree, I believe I have an outstanding mix of work experience which will aid me well as a teacher in Korea! I have worked as a special needs camp counsellor in the United States for 3 months, which involved not only running camp activities but also physical and emotional care work for both children and adults. We had a mix of people with physical and mental special needs throughout the summer, with a weekly turnaround of campers. During the summer, I worked in a team of 5 counsellors and have learnt valuable teamwork skills. I also took part in a leadership course at the start of the summer to return as a unit leader for my cabin, which gave me excellent evaluative and assessment skills.
This was a challenging job, as well as being in another country for a significant amount of time and has given me valuable experiences that will aid me in all walks of life. I am certain that I can bring what I have learnt at camp to the classroom and encourage creative ways of learning!

I have also worked as a sales associate part-time for the last 2.5 years at Superdry in the centre of Liverpool, and more recently also joined the LEGO store part time for the last 6 months. Working full-time hours over two jobs has been challenging but has granted me with good time management. I have gained more experience from engaging with both children and adults in both clothing and toy retail, and with the experience I had as a camp counsellor, I believe can make me a well-rounded English teacher.

Personality wise, I am very open minded with a passion for learning about other cultures and experiences! I have a varied number of hobbies including outdoor rock climbing, computer programming, football and playing the guitar. I would love to live and work in Korea, with not just teaching others but also learning about Korean culture and tradition myself.

I am very passionate about education and working with children. Teaching is a career that I stumbled upon but found great enjoyment and growth. I am super inquisitive and always go above the call of duty which is how I became head teacher and mentor at my previous school. As a qualified Social Worker, i have worked with children and adults in many different settings, from schools, to prison, court and hospitals doing group as well as individual work.
