I am a dedicated public service professional with years of experience coaching and mentoring swimmers and managing employees. My background has equipped me with strong leadership, communication, and instructional skills, working across age groups. As a swim coach, I wrote practices, guided learners of various ages, and adapted teaching methods to meet individual needs, skills that helped me in my language learning. Similarly, I taught technology concepts to senior citizens through my tech-skills class with Americorps. My interest in TEFL stems from a lifelong passion for cultural exchange and helping others meet their potential. My Experience:

Learning Support Assistant (contracted)
Cwmbran High School, via Suppleo Education.
September 2023 – July 2024
During my contract at Cwmbran High, I worked with several classes, covering various educational and behavioural support needs. Much of my time was spent as ‘general support’, providing aid not only to the child I was assigned but to the whole class (dependent on the lesson and the needs of the children in each lesson). I worked closely with their teachers to ensure the correct support was given and to highlight what areas needed the most work, particularly with English and creative engagement.

February 2018 – August 2018
During my internship in Australia, I was one of twenty youth workers who looked after up to one hundred and twenty children (from the ages of 11-18). I assisted in organising events and running 'small groups' of up to ten children.

During the pandemic, I also acted as the English teacher for my younger siblings and family members due to school closures.

My personality:
I consider the strengths of my personality (and character) to be my resilience, my outgoing nature, and my overall adaptability. I am confident in my abilities to work with anyone and build meaningful connections. I approach most things with a smile and a can-do attitude because I'm eager to give my best and have a positive impact on those around me.

In my experience, I would say that my greatest strengths are the soft skills I have developed over the years as a mentor teaching majlis-style debate to young people from all over the world. Soft skills that include things like empathy, patience, cross-cultural communication and my flexibility when things don't go according to plan as well as my adaptability. From my time teaching English, I learned on the job how to enhance my delivery, tailor my lessons to personalise and cater to the needs of my students individual skill level and how to carry myself in a professional setting in a culture that was very new to me. Also, I would say based on my experience as an English teacher at a language exchange in Seongnam, my willingness to learn from others and use mistakes to improve and better myself to be the best I can be in everything I do would be a beneficial strength.

I am fast to adapt and learn any new skills needed to perform above and beyond those at the top. I always plan out my months while adding in new topics or skills to practice. Furthermore, I believe we should use our free time outside of work to better ourselves and become intermediate in every field. Having a diverse set of skills will make any job candidate stand out. To settle for the bare minimum would be the same as killing creativity. Life is too short to only be average at what you do in a career. I believe that we should always work more than what is required and encourage others to do the same.
