I am a degree educated, ESL/EFL certified teacher. I enjoy being creative and I am also keen to use this creativity to create stimulating lessons to inspire a class. I work well in a team and can communicate well at all levels and ages. Holistic Guidance: Having been a third-culture-kid myself, I am well-acquainted with not only the international curriculum and philosophy of Advanced Placement (AP), but also the specific affective filters and achievement gaps among EFL learners. Based on my empirical insights from designing and implementing the English Bridge Program, not to mention five years of teaching experience as the Head of English, I will optimize the whole process of learning by accurately identifying learning styles and challenges, strategically individualizing pedagogical approaches, constantly conducting socioemotional counseling, and thereby nurturing positive linguistic identities. Deeply committed to the tenet of whole child education, I am more than willing to undertake initiatives to foster heuristic growth and cultivate self-efficacy to prepare blossoming learners for successful transitions into the diploma program and university.

Cross-curricular Communication: Born in Korea, raised in China, and educated in English, international communication has always been my forte. In order to promote an inclusive, progressive environment, I will actively interact and collaborate with any and all stakeholders—including, but not limited to, the local staff, international faculty, executives, students, and parents. In particular, I intend to document and deliver constructive feedback to and from students and supervisors through regular conferences and seminars to ensure cross-disciplinary alignment and organizational productivity. With my ample experience teaching English in Korea, my strengths lie within being inter-culturally aware with well-developed interpersonal skills, approachable and calm with a well-developed sense of humour, innovative, flexible and technologically adaptable and competent, confident and visible as a communicator. I have always had a passion for helping and teaching children. I have a Social Work degree in Child Welfare and spent most of my university days volunteering at orphanages and children homes as both a psychological counselor and mentor. Naturally, I am drawn to children and to guide them into being influential global citizens. I care about the future of tomorrow.

While studying at my university I’m always trying to remind myself why I desired to be a teacher when I was a high school student. Then, the reason was I hated the Korean school system, and If I were a teacher, I could provide a more useful and engaging experience to students. For that reason, I was trying to have experience overseas not only in Korea, and I think that give me more opportunities to bring more ideas and can be an accomplished teacher. So, I think that global teaching experience is one of my strength, and I always trying to make attractive classroom for my science education. Also, my graduate research for my Master's degree in Pusan National University was about compare the US and Korea curriculum. Through that research work I improved my knowledge related with curriculum from different countries.

I have about one and a half years experience teaching piano to youth age 8-12 years old. I helped them prepare for Royal Conservatory of Music Canada piano exam, teaching them the Level 1 and 2 repertoires.

I would say I am a calm and patient person; I am confident in my experience with dealing with younger individuals and acting as a positive role model that exhibits responsibility, maturity, and healthy living.

I studied Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada and Business – Finance at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. I hold a bachelor's degree and diploma, respectively. Additionally, I have received a 120+ hours TEFL certificate during which I learned teaching methods particularly for General and Business English from the most reputable TEFL provider in England.
