I'm a native English speaker with a great sense of communication and a passion for teaching. I decided to embark on a journey to Asia in January, 2018. Throughout the past two and a half years, I have gained invaluable experience in teaching English as a foreign language to students across Vietnam & Singapore in both centres and online platforms.

I have taught English as a second language to students aged between 4-18 years old, mainly focused on grammar, reading and conversational skills.

My love for coaching young learners to build confidence in expressing themselves in English, is my greatest driving force. I strive to make a difference in the lives of my students on a daily basis.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Hello, I am Jameel Kaba and I'm applying for the position of ESL Teacher. I have a Bachelors of Science from the University of Western Ontario. Though most of my experience is in the sports industry, I am interested in learning more of the Korean culture, and trying something new.

I have some basic experience with teaching English from my time within the hockey industry. When I was with the Vancouver Canucks, I would spend some time working with recent draft picks who may not speak English. Though the players would only be in the city for about a month, I would help teach them basic English phrases to get by during their stay. As a scout, I would occasionally have to interview players for scouting purposes. Some times though, the player may not speak English or may have broken English. So to try and communicate I would try a variety of methods. These methods included trying to draw out plays and see what the player would do, or see if they can try to type out their answers on a phone.

As for myself I am motivated, well organized, and detail oriented, as well as a self-starter who is creative and adaptive in a new environment. If I need to obtain any certification for this position, I'm more than willing to obtain it. For a preferred location I'd like to work in a big city such as Seoul or Busan, but I would be willing to teach in any location. Part of the reason for why I would like this job is to learn more about the Korean culture and lifestyle, and also to step away from sports for a little bit. I know some basic Korean expressions, and am attempting to learn a little bit at a time. Having worked in the Hockey industry, I am used to working any day and any time even if it is a holiday.

I have a BA in English, an MA in Film and Television Studies, and a TEFL qualification. I have teaching experience in Singapore at a phonics and literacy school with children aged between 3-12 years of age, online to teenagers and adults from around the world, and private phonics tutoring to a young child. I love working with both children and adults, helping them with their ESL journeys and offering quality teaching to enable my students to succeed with their language acquisition.

I am a recent college graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. I am a kind, friendly, positive, open-minded, and determined individual. I enjoy exploring and learning new things and meeting new people. Children are my passion. I am fortunate to have a pretty solid background in working with children from different ages, backgorund, and personalities. My first job as a Community Service Assistant in a after-school program, I worked with elementary students but mainly with 5th graders. I learned a lot from that job since it was my first job. I learned discipline, teamwork, and communication. I also worked as a Child Care Aide in my university's Child Care Program. I mainly worked with infants and kindergarteners. It was a great experience. Also, I worked as a summer camp counselor for a summer in university summer camp and that was a fun experience and gave me even more leadership skills than I expected. I had to instruct, teach, and guide the student through many activities and problems. I worked with 4th graders. I am organized, communicative, and a great listener. I also worked as a voluntary teacher's assistant in my local learning center in high school that led to my passion for children. The teacher and the students were great and I enjoyed my time.

At present, I hold a degree in English Language and Linguistics (Honours) at a 2:1. I have had some teacher training, including teaching English to full 30 student classes at a secondary level (11-18 year olds).

I’m a passionate individual looking at going into the teaching profession; I began but did not complete an ITT course, but fully intend to apply for another. Between now and then, I am keen to engage with young people and children, and to further build up my experience working in a classroom and with pupils. My first placement in an ITT setting meant that I was teaching 10 hours of planned lessons per week, and successfully passed that placement. My placement was with a secondary school with a variety of challenges, and required a variety of different approaches depending on each student.

I hold the belief that the well-being of each child is of the utmost priority, where they should be challenged constructively, but should also always feel safe. Part of the work I did involved observing the behavioural processes at Littlehampton Academy, and in doing so, at times that meant sitting down with students to try and figure out what we could best do to support them. Sometimes they were students in my class that had been removed from another lesson, and I felt that by taking the time to speak with them I could better learn what motivates them or detracts from their learning. At other times, they were students that just needed to talk about something. I feel that taking this highly empathetic approach to learning enables them to feel safe; it shows the adults around them care about what is happening in their lives, and what drives them.

In planning lessons, I had to adjust quickly; in some classes my students had a reading age gap of as large as seven years. I had to accommodate the needs of those students, and figure out ways to make my lessons accessible to them. In that respect, I have begun to garner the necessary experience to support students in their learning through pedagogical approaches that will scaffold them into the tasks at hand. The gradual Vygotskyan model of building from ‘I do you watch’ to ‘You do I watch’ is something I’ve gradually learned to integrate into the learning process, and I feel that I can begin to translate this process for other activities too. This fosters the type of independence in learning by gradually giving the reins to the student.

Having been in a teaching environment, I understand that the role the teacher holds is not an easy one, and therefore I try to do my best to support teaching staff in any possible capacity. In doing so, I find myself keen to support extra-curricular activities as well as learning; the engagement with young people is rewarding, and it affords them extra opportunities. I believe that these types of contributions support an ethos of caring and learning, whilst also alleviating additional pressures off of teaching staff.

As a content writer for diverse media and a two-time Fulbright Scholar Award winner, I know I have the skills and experience for the position of EFL Teacher. Having written for many different consumers and audiences for over ten years, as well as having taught English for many years to international pupils and students, my experience and interests are aligned with the position’s requirements.

I am a native English speaker (AE) and a citizen of the United States with an academic background in literature and international culture; my professional background includes English-language writing and education, both of which have been bolstered by my interest in and dedication to the English language.

As Senior Copywriter at Knoza Consulting, I optimize listings on Amazon, analyzing competitors and researching keywords to maximize conversion rates for consumer goods. For nearly four years I have balanced between staying true to a client’s brand, remaining within Amazon’s strict rules, and maintaining interest for potential customers already awash with similar products on the front page of results.

My job at Knoza is to craft as enticing a tale as possible, painting a picture of the product which promotes its positive features and prompts an urgency which can only deescalate with its purchase – all in under a very short time to capture a customer’s attention. With training, I learned what Amazon wants. With experience, I learned what clients and customers want. With my grasp of the English language, I was able to apply what I had learned.

As a two-time Fulbright Scholar teaching English in Germany, I spent two years in German classrooms making English classes both informative and fun. My first Fulbright contract brought me to the Vogtland in West Sachsen, as I taught at the Geschiwster-Scholl-Schule and Seminarschule in Auerbach (V). I did not stray too far in my second contract, during which I taught at Otto-Schott-Gymnasium in Jena. I wrote plays and songs at grade-specific levels so that classes were more than just another lesson: from a parody about Punnett Squares for eighth graders to a rap summarizing Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew for twelfth graders, I aimed to make English exciting and intriguing. I had to keep the students’ attention, and I often achieved it by emulating their musical heroes and referencing the pop culture to which they were so acutely attuned. My full understanding of the English language allowed me to almost literally grab the right words quickly and efficiently, providing quality content during intense time constraints.

As the head writer of one TV show currently in development in the early stages of pre-production, I have used the past ten years’ experience penning novels, screenplays, musicals, and award-winning short stories to write a sitcom about the forgotten side of the spy world: analysts at the CIA. Not only have I managed the challenge of providing humor throughout eight 30-minute episodes, but I have also crafted character arcs which are believable, relatable, and enjoyable. This professional duty of relatability was made possible thanks to my previous teaching experience, and I believe that this creative grasping of individuals’ attention can again translate well to education.

With regard to my suitability for the position, I'm an excellent communicator who is skilled at working with people to achieve common goals. I have experience of teaching both children and adults and I'm confident in presenting and teaching in front of large groups. In my role as an Aerial Acrobatics Tutor, I was responsible for leading group classes that ranged from six to eighteen people. This involved inducting students about our safety policies as well as how to use the equipment safely. I also coached and motivated students to learn new moves and refine their technique, in order for them to progress and reach their goals. This experience would be transferable to the role of English teacher, as this is a role which requires excellent communication and teaching skills.

Moreover, in my role as an Assistant Project Manager, I proved I was a capable organiser who can work independently. I successfully coordinated activities relating to day-to-day project delivery, including organising and chairing project team meetings, producing project reports and updating project trackers. As a result, the project ran smoothly and hit both time and budget objectives. This experience is relevant the role of a teacher, as it requires lots of good organisational skills.

My name is Jihan Ali and I am a recent university graduate from London, England. I greatly appreciate South Korea as a country and have visited a couple of times. I first stayed there as an exchange student at Pukyong National University in Busan where I studied for a semester and then worked with Africa Insight in Seoul the following Summer. I realised I enjoyed my time in Korea as I admire the culture and the people a lot. I decided that after graduation, I will return as a teacher where I will take this opportunity to not only teach but also learn the local language and become more involved. I have always been interested in the field of linguistics as the study of language and its structure as well as opening doors to have access to the English language as the world’s lingua franca.

I am passionate about the educational development of young people. I started taking a Level 5 TEFL course as I aim to make teaching ESL a career rather than simply a job. Furthermore, during my time in education, I took up several jobs in different types of fields such as hospitality, administration, tutoring and sanitation. I also volunteered at schools and charities to boots my skills across the board. These diverse jobs allowed me to obtain skills which I hope to demonstrate during my time as a teacher. From a very early age I have been integrated into multicultural life, so I am a native to both English and Spanish. Because of my way of life, I have created a very open mind to different cultural exchanges, specially focused within the English language. Since I have lived in an English oriented life in a Spanish speaking culture thanks to my family, I was able to enjoy some of the benefits of the language, for example I had the opportunity to study in Xi’an, China for two summers in an archaeological excavation. While being in China I had the opportunity to work as an Au Pair for a family in Beijing, were I lived with said family for 3 weeks. During this position as Au Pair I oversaw the English and some Spanish teachings of the two children of the family, one was an 9 year-old and the other a 5 year-old, because of the siblings age difference I had to create different learning tactics for reading, talking and listening that could be integrated in normal and school life. As my final year for my undergraduate degree was approaching I got the opportunity to do so abroad, in South Korea, at Hanyang University Seoul Campus, where I spent 8 months while there I also participated in many language related activities with my fellow classmates. These experiences have help me to learn to live in different environments, that in my opinion, are very different to that from which I came from. But while showing me the differences, it also taught me of the love that I have created for teaching languages and my cultures to others. Because of my background I am a very culturally mixed person that identifies with Latin, European and African culture so I always love to teach other on these related topics. Also, as much as I love the present, because of my undergraduate studies in Anthropology I am also very interest in the past and how things came to be. So, I am known for showing extra interest in phenomenon’s that may not be completely known which, in my eyes, makes me more eager to learn new ways of life. In conjunction with my studies I have been accustomed to learning about all sorts of topics like science, arts, history, economics, politics, etc. which then has helped be developed a more broad vocabulary withing different types of casual and professional environment providing me with broader communication tactics. Because I am an academic person I do have a personality that may be seen as very professional, but I believe my personalities tends to chance within the situations since I do take learning very seriously when it come to it, I am very focused but as the student myself, I also believe that to be able to learn one must enjoy it and it is my obligation as a future teacher to go above and beyond to make sure my students have a full understanding of what is being taught now matter how much it would take or if I have to chance methods, as long as they genuinely understand the material. Additionally, because of the way my own education was I am very supportive of technology as a learning tool which is why I love when this is integrated into learning, for example in presentations and research purposes. Other method that I would fully support is hands on learning, which might not be a very traditional way of learning but it is definitely a more active method to topics in the language community as the best method to learning a language is constant practice, I am the perfect example of this method. But at the end of the day my goal is and always will be to teach others how fun it is to learn.

Hello my name is Ciaran Foley I am a 25 year old male from Ireland. I graduated from Dublin Technological University in 2018 with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Health receiving a 2:1 honours grade. Following graduation I gained employment in Ireland as an Environmental Manager in a meat processing facility. In May 2018 I moved to Toronto and worked in a bar for the first few months before finding employment related to my degree as a Safety Supervisor in a logistics company. I left Toronto in April 2020 with the plan to complete TEFL and relocate to Asia to teach. I have now completed a level 5 TEFL course with The TEFL Academy and am looking for employment. It is still unclear when I will be able to move due to the COVID-19 pandemic but I am actively trying to make connections to help me find a suitable teaching position in an area I like. When starting my career in education, I found a keen interest in special educational needs. Through my placement as a level 2 teaching assistant I was able to develop this interest as a skill. Later used to become a respite worker for families with autistic children. As this job went on, I found myself becoming keenly interested in child development. This brought me to my bachelor’s degree in child and young person development.

The three-year degree allowed me to further my knowledge in this field, whilst also providing me with first-hand experience in a number of different settings including schools, youth offending facilities, kindergartens and youth clubs. I eventually graduated with a 2:1 grade after completing my dissertation: A comparative report of Estonia, Finland and Russia in terms of PISA. On completion, I was able to display my public speaking skills when invited to speak at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research.

During my studies I developed a personal passion for travelling and made regular trips to mainland Europe whilst Spending my summers in North America and south East Asia. Through this, I was given the chance to experience different cultures and social values. This made me question how other countries viewed education and what role education played in the societies of developing nations. This, coupled with a keen interest in geopolitics, brought me to my master’s degree (International development & education).

The MA allowed me to explore these unanswered questions whilst giving me the platform to debate worldwide social issues. Alongside this, I gained valuable experience in my placement module. Experiencing life in an Indonesian education foundation. Working with impoverished students teaching English and Climate Issues. Alongside this, I worked as part of a group implementing a waste management project for the setting.

With my passion for travel, quick adaptation to cultures and background in teaching. I feel that this role would give me the perfect opportunity to display my own personal skill set in a demanding and new environment. Fulfilling my own personal desire to live and work outside of the UK and providing the employer with a valued resource for the school.

I just graduated in May 2020 with a BA in Critical Languages and International Studies: Korean with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and it's been my goal for many years to live and work in Korea. In 2019, I visited Korea twice, once to study abroad at Yonsei University and again for just 4 days for my birthday because I loved the country so much. Experience-wise, I do not have a TEFL, but I spent 2 years at Southern Methodist University tutoring Chinese-native graduate students learning English to teach their own classes, and studying Secondary Education and taking ESL education courses. I’m a native English speaker, and the accent I use is the General American accent. Over the past four years, I’ve taught at a variety of institutions. This includes a college, a high school, two private schools, and an adult English school. I believe my broad range of experiences make me an excellent candidate for a position at Lee School.

I spent a year and a half teaching adult students at GJun, an adult English center. I taught vocabulary, General American pronunciation, and grammar through the use of articles, video and group discussion. My goal was to help them openly and fluently express their ideas in a safe, English-only environment.

I taught English for a year at Su-Zhen Junior College of Medicine and Management. As a language instructor at Su-Zhen, I held conversational English lessons for the English Department, Early Childhood and Education Department, Nursing Department, and the Health and Beauty Department. Additionally, I provided all lesson plans, quizzes, tests, and class material.

I served as an English instructor at Deguang Catholic High School for two semesters. This was an advanced program designed for elite students preparing to go abroad. While the school provided a textbook and class material, I added additional course material and lessons as needed by the class.

Finally, I spent the majority of my teaching career at Joy English. During my first year, I taught at Joy Dawan. I then transferred to Joy Yongxin to help open the new school as both of these language centers are operated by the same owner. While at Joy English, I taught ages 6 – 18. All lessons and material were provided by the school. However, we were expected to be creative and flexible in regards to lesson and project planning.

At Joy English, teamwork was important. All foreign teachers were paired with a Taiwanese teacher for each class. On the other hand, while teaching at Shu-Zen, GJun and Deguang, I taught class without supervision or assistance. Experience: I have completed a 120 Hour TEFL Course from The TEFL Org (Student ID/Certification Number: 124798), and have previously worked as a Classroom Assistant at the British School of the Netherlands' English Language Summer School (2014 & 2015). My experience at the summer school included assisting ESL teachers and students during classes, supervising students during their non-english lessons, and teaching sports for a variety of age groups (8-16 years old).

Personality: I am a friendly and outgoing person, who has an excellent sense of humour. I enjoy taking on new challenges and mastering them to the best of my ability.
