ESL Teachers

My name is Meg Lockwood, a Languages Graduate from the University of Cambridge, and I am writing to apply for the position of ESL Teacher as advertised on the GLOII Job Consulting website.

I have been interested in teaching for a long time, as I have personally always thoroughly enjoyed school. Knowing how this is, unfortunately, not the case for such a huge number of students has instilled in me a desire to contribute to the education system myself, and hopefully be able to change this step by step. I have a strong work ethic, confident speaking skills, and most importantly, a genuine love of interacting and working with young people.

I have experience teaching both Primary and Secondary age students, in a variety of school systems. I am a TEFL certified ESL teacher, and my particular areas of subject expertise are Modern Languages, English and Maths, but I am flexible and capable of teaching a broad range of subjects, as I achieved the top grades across the board throughout my own education (see CV). I am a self-motivated, positive and hard-working individual, which I think would enable me to excel in this role.

In addition, the intense, challenging and immensely pressured environment of succeeding at a high-performing institution like Cambridge has ingrained a keen ability in me to maintain the highest attention to detail, perfectionism, and importantly morale, even under strict time constraints and often mental pressure. This stands me in good stead to excel in teaching, a role which requires strong responsibility, consistency and self-discipline. I also played Varsity level Lacrosse, as well as hockey and tennis, confirming that I thrive in collaborative environments as well as independently.

Finally, although I’m British, I have actually grown up and lived in several different countries across the world: from Europe, to the Middle East, South East Asia, South America and recently Australasia. In this way, cultural and linguistic intrigue, as well as comfortability in adapting to new surroundings, have been a consistent part of my life. On top of being a key motivation to live and work in South Korea, and thus become acquainted with yet another part of the world, I believe this longstanding contact with a diverse range of peoples and societies has cemented my high capacity for cultural exchange, interpersonal skills, as well as universal respect. These qualities, which form the foundations of my personality, will reduce the potential for cultural misunderstandings that can potentially take place in any international workplace, but more importantly, enable me to understand and connect with my students a bit more organically.
However, I am of course still always willing to keep learning and adapting to all of the inevitable further experiences I will gain through this role.

TEFL certified, college graduate seeking a teaching position in Seoul, South Korea. Experience in teaching both children and adults, English and Spanish. Brings a friendly, positive attitude to a learning environment.

Having graduated from University of Glasgow with an English Literature Degree at 2:1, I have undergone four years of Undergrad level academic study. My time at University endowed me with an in depth knowledge of literature, language and how to apply said knowledge to extensive written essays, dissertation and presentations using a mix of finely honed written and verbal communication.

I have worked as a tutor in English and Maths with an UK based organisation Explore Learning, who provide tutoring to children ages 4-14 delivered both online and in person. I had my own assigned students who I worked with regularly, coaching them at differing levels and tailoring lessons to their individual needs, as well as providing detailed feedback during the marking process. I often had to liaise with parents in addition to students to establish a rapport and keep them informed on their children's progress regularly. I took great pride in motivating my students and instilling the confidence to achieve their academic potential.

In addition to the above, I am the holder of a completed 120 hours TEFL certificate.

In addition to more education contexts, I have consistently worked in people focused roles from retail positions to my current post as Project Coordinator for TRC Media, a charity that provide training and development for the television and broadcast sector.

As an individual, I am outgoing, articulate and open minded. I have a naturally positive demeanour that allows me to forge connection with others with ease, and build trust with those around me. I am organized, adaptable and motivated to do well and help others do the same.
I am able to work to deadlines, multitask and maintain a positive demeanour whilst doing so, even in the face of adversity! I am passionate about working with others and getting the best out of myself and my colleagues, students and peers. Working with others well is integral to any successful organisation, and I believe I would be a great candidate to add to the team.

A good ESL teacher should be able to relate freely with the students, should be lively, active, positive and have a welcoming attitude towards the students. This will foster a good learning atmosphere in the classroom. A good ESL teacher must also be good at expressing ideas, values and beliefs about teaching.

I have a bubbly and chatty personality. I am extroverted and well-versed in public speaking. I have a strong background in customer service, cash and card transactions as well as administrative experience and skills. I have also completed a 120 hour course with TEFL. I have babysitted children and get along with them quite well.

In terms of experience I've never taught children before, but I have experience with watching and getting a long with children. For instance I have little cousins under 7 and I've always been very patient and loving towards them, and making sure that I always keep a watchful eye on making sure that they don't get hurt or get into anything they are not suppose to. With children between the ages 8-12 I get a long with them pretty well. I notice that they are comfortable talking to me and tend to gravitate towards me. My personality others would say I'm easy going and easy to talk to, as well as understanding. I would say that I am a fun and loving person who enjoys being around people and their company. I would say for skills, I'm good at communicating, as well as listening to what others have to say. I'm open-minded to others and their opinions. Whenever a conflict happens I try to de-escalate a situation and see where both sides are coming from before saying how to resolve it.

I am highly motivated and passionate about education, driven by a desire to engage and inspire learners.
My interpersonal skills are strong, allowing me to build rapport with students and create a supportive, interactive learning environment. I am adaptable and open-minded, capable of adjusting my teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and cultural backgrounds

I am an ESL Teacher with two years experience, teaching young learners and adults in China.

I have good lesson planning and classroom management skills.

I make my lessons inclusive and interactive for the students, to ensure a fun learning environment.

Whilst I don't have experience teaching yet, I am eager to get started and learn. I have completed my 140 hour TEFL certification with an in-person component and feel ready to start my new career. I think I have a lot of transferable skills from my degree where I worked in many production roles that required me to be organised and delegating work to others. As for personality, I am a bright and bubbly person who loves to talk and communicate with others and so teaching feels like a dream job, especially to help others communicate in a new language.
