I have three + years' experience teaching English in South Korea, specifically in Daegu. I've worked for two different hagwon, as well as a year-and-a-half at Yeong Jin College.

My teaching style can best be described as positive and energetic. I find it best for students to be engaged during class; this typically results in more class participation by my students. Creating enthusiasm about English, I find, makes for a more enriched learning experience.

I speak clearly and with a moderate pace, allowing students to keep up and understand everything. I have strong grammar skills that can also help in my classrooms.

I am open to different teaching styles, if a school has a specific style in mind. I am open-minded and patient with my students, allowing them to advance at their own pace.

Although I am older than many of your applicants, I believe my maturity and experience would be an asset to any school.

I did not know I wanted to be a teacher until I graduated high school. When I realized my talent for teaching, I enrolled in Kennesaw State University and majored in English. I became even more passionate about language, writing and literature through my college career. To gain valuable classroom experience, I began working as a substitute teacher, teaching all grades from pre-school to high school seniors. During this time, one of the elementary schools I worked at most often asked me to join their staff as a language paraprofessional. My time as a paraprofessional educator honed my skills with young learners and taught me how to forge connections with students while also maintaining a professional and disciplined stance as a teacher. I now have a total of four years of classroom experience, including one year in teaching a foreign language. I believe my passion for education and organized personality makes me a great fit to become an English teacher.

I have experience teaching elementary students in a variety of settings. For the past three years, I taught at an inner-city SFUSD public school and have been teaching a diverse student demographic within my classroom. This includes Black and Brown students of color, special needs students, and English Language
Learners. From this experience, I’ve become proficient in classroom management. I have applied and revitalized Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions while tailoring the classroom environment and lessons to reflect the learning needs of my students. I received and applied feedback from classroom observations conducted by the coach and actively took courses on how to improve the culture of learning and needs of my students within a multiple subjects classroom. This also included learning and improving my skills as a teacher on how to teach multiple subjects in a way that accommodates the individual student and whole class needs. Along with my skills, I also utilize my Spanish-speaking to support student who's English is a second language and teaching English Language Development. My skills in the classroom include classroom management, creating and maintaining classroom culture and expectations, and adapting curriculum to meet the learning levels of a diverse classroom. I describe my personality as patient and try my best to be culturally sensitive and implement fun in the classroom to make learning exciting.

I am a politics and sociology graduate, currently working in a special educational needs school as a learning support assistant. I work with autistic children aged 5-13. My role includes; working 1:1 with students, as well as occasionally teaching whole classes. I feel I am both a passionate and multiskilled educator who has built a broad range of relevant experiences.

After I graduated I travelled to South East Asia, Europe and Central America which has been a big catalyst for my motivation to apply for this position. It has cultivated a love for cross-cultural exchange and educational development so I am excited to seek an opportunity which allows the collaboration of these two personal important opportunities. I am highly motivated to apply for this course in order to embark on a transformative journey that not only challenges my individual limits but helps to develop my own personal and professional growth. I am looking for travel opportunities which will allow me to get to know local people, places and cultures.

My previous experience has helped me develop essential skills such as; creativity, patience, empathy and communication, and I’m now looking for new opportunities to deepen these further. Working with non-speaking children I have adapted to the challenge of communication with language barriers, developing solutions which allow me to break linguistic boundaries through non-verbal and sensory heavy methods. Through my work in schools I have thrived in environments that require quick adaptation and problem solving. I now feel these are strong transferable skills of mine; I actively enjoy being in situations that allow me to apply them and feel it is where I thrive best. Crucially, I feel I work well with people. I have an empathetic and creative nature that helps me to engage and create both relationships and rapport with a diverse range of individuals. I am a creative person who writes and paints every day, i use creativity as the medium i see the world.

When I came across your program I felt excited about the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful organization while simultaneously gaining invaluable experience which can aid my own growth as an educator within an international setting. I am especially excited about teaching the English language, fostering mutual understanding and building profound connections with both students and the new people I meet. I am fully prepared to meet the challenge of both living and working abroad. I will always make a commitment to bring enthusiasm flexibility and a learners mindset to this opportunity.

I am motivated to apply for this teaching opportunity , as I feel it would enable me to further my current experiences in teaching whilst also fulfilling my enjoyment of being an educator, in an exciting environment directly collaborating with my personal passion for both travel and adventure. I feel passionate about exploring cultures different from my own and becoming completely immersed in them in order to foster both personal and professional growth.
