I would like to be considered for a Full Time Elementary Teacher Position in Seoul. I saw your recruitment listing on the TFL Academy website.

I am a mature teacher, from the UK, who has been working at SLP Gwanggyo for the past 18 months, where, I have been teaching Kindergarten and Elementary. I enjoy seeing how young minds adapt to learning a language, that as a British subject, am passionate about. I enjoy using stories and immersive teaching as well as other ‘child friendly’ activities, to highlight how the English language has evolved and works. I believe story books in particular, are one of the most important tools that any child should have access to. I like to use creative activities such as art and play, to encourage children to enjoy learning and to expand their horizons.

I started working for SLP Gwanggyo in March 2024, and although I have a deep connection and attachment to many of the children in the school, I feel now is the right time to consider the next stage in my teaching journey. This is my second year of teaching 5-year-old Kindergarten children and Elementary, who now, with the help of my Korean co-teacher, are becoming more confident and beginning to understand the dynamics of the English language.

Children are an integral part of our society, and I enjoy opening up young minds to the possibility the World may hold for them. As a mother of four grown up children myself, all of whom I have encouraged to be the best they can be and who have consequently all succeeded in their ambitions, I understand how important the full spectrum of education is.

I feel that I have a lot to offer a school and more importantly, young learners, in learning the English language.

I hold a TEFL certification and a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, and I have developed teaching and childcare experience through tutoring English and mathematics during college (graduated May 2023), babysitting elementary and middle school aged kids, and teaching Russian folk dance to elementary school aged kids. I am hardworking, dedicated, and consistently committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to participate and grow.

I have studied abroad at Yonsei University (Summer 2022) which gave me firsthand experience with Korean culture, academic expectations, and daily life in Korea. This background will help me to adapt more smoothly to cultural norms, communicate respectfully, and understand the needs of Korean students and parents.

My creative background through art and dance helps me design engaging lessons that keeps students motivated and curious. I value reliability, respect, and cooperation, and I take pride in maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere. I am enthusiastic about cultural exchange and contributing to a positive school community.

I have hands-on experience supporting and teaching children through volunteer roles in both early-years and school settings. As a Playgroup Assistant at a local nursery, I helped prepare arts, crafts, and singing sessions while engaging closely with children and parents. As a Netball Coach at an International School, I coached the U18 team, led PE lessons for primary students, and introduced them to new skills and teamwork. Alongside this, my professional background in client relations and customer service has strengthened my communication, organisation, and ability to guide people with clarity and patience — qualities that translate directly into teaching English and supporting learners of all ages.

I am an experienced early childhood ESL teacher currently working as a 5-year-old homeroom teacher at King’s Kids in Songpa. I deliver age-appropriate English instruction in phonics, vocabulary, speaking, reading, and early writing while maintaining a structured, positive classroom environment. I design engaging lesson plans that follow curriculum goals, manage classroom routines, guide student behavior, and provide differentiated support to learners at varying English levels. I also collaborate closely with co-teachers, participate in school events, and help organize performances, open classes, and seasonal activities.

My previous professional experience as a digital services and academic librarian strengthened my organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
