ESL Teachers

I just recently graduated from Western Washington University with my BA from the College of Fine and Performing Arts, so as far as experience in this particular field goes I don't really have any. But during my time in college I was a housing ambassador for the university, that meant that I welcomed perspective students and parents into my dorm and answered any questions about the college that they might have had. This job taught me communication skills, problem solving and how to create a welcoming environment to make those visiting feel comfortable. And although my schedule didn't allow me time to volunteer on a regular basis, I did sit in on some of the classes that were to help the Japanese transfer students or AUAP students with their English skills. I was always interested in helping out these students, I wanted to try and make their stay in America as enjoyable as it could be. I know since I am freshly graduated I am inexperienced, but I would love to learn and share my knowledge with others.
I would say i'm a optimistic person but I also know how to be a realist. I like to look on the brighter side of things and see the best in people, but I also know when to be rational. I try to make the best of bad situations and I truly believe laughter is the best medicine. One of the reasons I pursued art in college was because I see my art as a way to share happiness with others, and the one thing I want to be able to do more then anything else is to see others smile because of something I created or contributed to. I want to grow and change, I strive to become a better me everyday. I believe you should always want to learn and that you should always seek out opportunities that allow you to learn.
In regards of my skills, although most of my skills are art based I am a well rounded individual. I am the most knowledge in the fields of photography, animation, drawing and printing, as those were the main things that I studied while in college. But I also do babysit for my relatives and look after my 4 year old cousins, so I have experience with working with younger kids. And through working as a housing ambassador in college I have learned how to problem solve in unexpected situations and I also learned that communication is key. I don't speak Korean even though I am a half Korean Asian-American, English is my first language and the only language I can speak,read, and write. But I do want to learn more about my Korean heritage and I want to start learning the language.

I recently completed my CELTA certification at ACE Cambodia. During my training I developed a strong rapport with my students. I am easy to approach and the student were comfortable asking me questions. This comfort level also gave them the confidence to try new and difficult aspects of the English language without being afraid to make mistakes. They knew that we would talk over any error and that I would never be judgmental or harsh.

Before taking my CELTA course I worked in the Atlanta office of Diamond State Insurance as a property underwriter. I worked on the middle market property team where I grew my book of business from one million to over three million in premium. I was in charge of negotiation, writing contracts, and marketing for the company. I was also responsible for building broker relationships by keeping in close contact over the phone, emails, and through personal visits. Before working at Diamond State Insurance, I worked at Zurich Insurance Group, where I was selected as a systems expert for the Southeast region. I trained new employees in Atlanta, Schaumburg and Dallas to use the system and help them develop the skills necessary to become an underwriting assistant at Zurich.

At both companies I was known for my hard work, strong enthusiasm and interpersonal skills. I have a BA in History from Virginia Tech. Although I haven't worked in the history field as a profession, it is still my passion. I love to go to museums, read historical books and documentaries. I feel I would be a great asset to your organization due to my experience, work ethic and social skills.

I have an extensive 4 years of teaching elementary school, middle school, university students and adult students in South Korea.

I am a very passionate person that gets the most joy seeing students succeed and be successful. I will always give one hundred percent and go the extra mile to make sure the job gets done properly. I am always well prepared and extremely punctual. Most importantly, I place a high value on being exceptionally kind, approachable, and respectful to all of my coworkers and students. I have one year of experience teaching at an academy in Seoul. While I was teaching there, I gained valuable experience working with young elementary students all the way up to third grade middle school students. During my one year at the academy I taught a wide range of subjects that relate to English. I also learned a great deal when it comes to preparing for classes, as daily lesson plans and class preparation were required everyday. The subjects that I taught were reading, grammar, story writing skills, reading comprehension, test taking skills, listening, and phonics. This has given me a good working knowledge of the many different areas of English education. Before I moved to Korea I was working in the field of Education as well. I was employed as a substitute teacher. While I worked as a substitute, I worked with students of different ages and many different subjects. There I learned a lot in classroom management and that students have various learning styles. All in all, I feel that I have very valuable skills. I have no doubt that I would be a really strong asset to any academy that is seeking a well-qualified and experienced teacher.

I am extremely professional, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about students and teaching. I have worked as a tutor, EFL teacher (ages 4 to 60), ESL teacher, and English Language Arts teacher. I have taught English as a foreign language in South Korea, Spain, and the United States. I have worked with students of all ages from children to adults as well as all different backgrounds.

I work really hard to ensure that all my students learn the best they can. I like having fun in class while also pushing students to work as hard as they can. I set high goals for my students and then do everything I can to help them reach them. At my current job, only my students at the lowest level (learning phonics) are allowed to speak Korean in class. Even classes where other teachers allow them to speak Korean due to their limited English vocabulary, the students only use English in my class. This is because I like to build an environment where learning English is not a chore, but something they enjoy and want to do. I do this by making every lesson as engaging as possible.

I am also a perfectionist. This means that I work very hard to constantly improve myself and my classes. Even when others would stop and say "it's good enough," I keep trying to improve.

I am highly skilled with Google Docs and organizing information. These skills helped me when I was designing and planning curriculum back in the United States. But, it has also served me when helping to develop a debate curriculum for my current Hagwon.

I am a very conscientious individual and take great care in any work given to me. I am an easy going person and am easy to get along with. I believe I have an open personality and I'm open to learning new things. I am reliable and puctual as I would not be late for work and I make a great effort to turn in any work on time.

I am applying for the position of full-time English teacher. I am currently a working in Korea finishing up my first full year of teaching at the moment. I have worked at my university in japan, as an exchange student, helping to teach English. I have also interned at an English school in japan for a few weeks. I have worked at multiple daycares in the past not only tending to the children but also the facility in itself helping to build an astatically pleasing atmosphere for everyone. I’m currently working on obtaining my TEFL certification. I love working with children of all ages and skill levels. I am very goal orientated, organized, and a hard worker with a passion for trying new things. I would greatly appreciate if I were able to discuss this role further with you.
