ESL Teachers

I do not have any direct experience with regards to education but have been heavily involved in working with children throughout my life. Potentially my best experience was as a first-year class mentor in secondary school. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting up weekly with the first-year students to talk about problems they were having in the year. It was our goal to ensure the switch from primary to secondary school was as seamless and as unintimidating as possible. We eventually became good friends with the younger students which they said allowed them to adjust easier to their new student life.

Apart from this I have babysat younger kids on many occasions as well as assisted my mam in her job as a physiotherapist by dealing with kids with physical and intellectual disabilities.

I am a naturally welcoming person and strive to be inclusive of everyone. I like to think that I present myself in a respectful and confident manner.

I have worked hard throughout my life to ensure that I achieve my fullest potential. My work ethic and determination has been commended during my various employments. This included work as a labourer in New York and Vancouver, a waiter working for a catering service and finally during two internships with Pfizer.

During these various jobs my communication and interpersonal skills improved greatly.
I have the utmost confidence that I will apply myself to a teaching job in a similar manner. I can ensure you that you will be satisfied with my employment.

I enjoy learning foreign languages. I started with French and took French for 5 years and even did French immersion in Quebec. I use my skills from learning my foreign languages to better understand my friends who have trouble with speaking or writing in English. Learning foreign languages has changed my view on how I look at the English language and how to present the way I speak and write to non-English speakers.

I am a highly passionate English literature graduate with 2 and a half years of
classroom experience alongside a TrinityCert TESOL certificate that I gained while studying at the English Teacher Training College in Austria. While studying there I was introduced to, and immersed in, a wide variety of educational theories and methodologies. My theoretical background in education was then complemented during my time in Austria where I was privileged enough to be given the opportunity to teach a widely divergent set of students that encompassed beginner level students to upper-intermediate level students (A1-B2 on the Common European Framework). In order to meet the language learning needs of such a disparate and contrasting set of learners I had to refine, adapt and successfully apply the methodologies I was introduced to. This experience has given me a rich grounding in education which has been perfectly complemented by my time at First Leap in China where my pre-existing theoretical knowledge has allowed me to successfully navigate the problems I faced in applying teaching methodologies to new students that have different learning needs, and possess a different linguistic structure than what I was previously exposed to when I gained my teaching qualification.

After a year and a half teaching for a nationally expanding teaching company in China – First Leap – I was awarded a promotion to Teacher Advisor after attending a rigorous management-based training course administered by my company. As a Teacher Advisor, I am responsible for the professional development of all teachers in four First Leap centers across Beijing. As a part of my role, I utilise my theoretical and practical teaching knowledge in one-to-one and group training while administering assessments of teachers to establish a consistently high level of teaching quality across the region.

Throughout my employment history in Austria and China I have proved I am very adaptable to new cultures, and I am ready to immerse myself in a new compelling culture to continue my personal and professional development.

I am an independent, hardworking and outgoing person. I have recently completed my Bachelors degree in Business & German from Trinity College, Dublin. Experienced working as an individual or as part of a team in various fast-paced environments from the service industry to manufacturing.

I also have experience working with children. I volunteered to work on the Clongowes Special Children Holiday during the 2014 summer. During this period, I was personally responsible for the care of several young children with varying disabilities. I also worked for two summers as a state examinations supervisor and aide. I worked 1-on-1 supervising and helping students with learning disabilities sit their leaving cert examinations in special learning centres. In this role I was given a great deal of responsibility to ensure proper protocol was followed and to make certain the student received the appropriate amount of aid he/she was entitled to.

I feel my skills learned while working these jobs will help me in teaching children of all ages. I am also adept at learning new languages having achieved fluency in German. I hope this skill will translate well as I attempt to learn Korean during my stay. I have also lived away from home before, spending a year in Germany. This has allowed me to become more independent and I believe this makes me suited to dealing with the challenges that often come from living abroad.

Experience: I have recently completed some work experience with a primary school here in the U.K. During this time I performed the role of a Teaching Assistant, and I worked with children aged 5-11 years old. Duties included: reading with the students, supervising in the classroom and out of class activities, key learning focus was english reading, writing, phonics and spelling as well as lots of creative based learning.

Personality:
I consider myself to be a perfectionist and I take great care and commitment to everything I do.
I am a very open minded person who is always keen to learn new things, meet new people and improve on my skills as much as possible.

My name is Darius Allen Livingston Mills and I currently live in Hwajeong-dong, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

I’m currently looking for an English teaching position that begins in September.

I have experience teaching in Korea at Hwajeong POLY Language School and 2 years teaching Biology on a community college level in the USA.

I am currently on an E2 Visa already so the lengthy paperwork process will not be required.

I am a social, inquisitive and motivated individual which means I fit well into teams and integrate well with people. My inquisitive nature means I am always looking to learn and challenge myself in ways to improve. My motivation pushes me to be the best I can be in any area. I'm a patient individual which helps me to monitor, reflect and gain the best perspective for situations.

I have experience in managing a team of assistants, training existing and new employees. I also have experience of preparing lesson plans for classrooms. I often childmind so I have experience of dealing with children. In my most recent job role I frequently dealt with customers face to face and had to manage to find ways to communicate complex issues to them in ways which they could understand.

My skills are that I am a strong communicator so am able to convey information well. I am able to organise and schedule effectively as I did this daily in my previous role and had to do this whilst working full time and studying for a degree alongside this. Further skills are that I am resilient, I enjoy challenges and welcome the opportunity to learn from them so that I can adapt, adjust and prepare better for future challenges

I am a native English speaker and ESL teacher with experience teaching a wide variety of students. I have taught for two years as a public school teacher through Japan's INTERAC programme, placed in Elementary and Junior High schools in Kanazawa, Japan. Additionally, I conducted conversational classes with adult learners and helped prepare private students for IELTS examinations and overseas studies. I am very strong at creating entertaining and engaging lessons. I owe this to strong lesson planning, using (and making) fun, profession- al multimedia, having a strong sense of humour and being adept at public speaking.

I majored in English at University and have since worked as a tutor, journalist. newsreader, copywriter and junior editor. All these positions require a strong command of the English language as well as impeccable grammar and spelling. I started teaching a radio news broadcasting class in 2018 as a Saturday job and realized that I love teaching.

I like children because they're completely unfiltered and haven't been conditioned yet, making them open-minded and willing to learn new things. Their curiosity fascinates me! I would love the opportunity to be able to use the skills of language use I have acquired to help children and adults reach their full potential.
