ESL Teachers

I have a very focused mind and love helping others be the best they can be. My Masters from the University of Glasgow focused on how different uses of the English language can effect people in different ways. I have over 4 years experience teaching from my involvement with Natural Eclipse Theatre, an educational theatre company I co-founded.

I have numerous qualifications in the area of education and it is something I am truly passionate about. I have been involved in educating others in various capacities since the age of 15, when I first started volunteering in my local sports club as a youth coach. And more recently, I have gained valuable classroom experience working as an ESL teacher with Apax English in Vietnam.

Since my youth, I have worked and volunteered in a number of different roles involving coaching and teaching both children and adults. I have worked with children from a range of age groups (5years-17years) in my role as a sports coach, camp leader, and teacher. However, through my work as a Games Development Administrator and a Personal Trainer, I have also gathered valuable experience working with, and tutoring adults in both group & one-to-one settings.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary school teaching, specializing in the areas of Physical Education and Geography, as well as numerous coaching qualifications. My recent TEFL qualification has added greatly to my knowledge of teaching methodologies and has further enhanced these qualifications. I also hold a Master’s degree in the area of Sports Science, something that proves I am a hardworking and motivated individual.

I have spent the last year working as an English teacher in Vietnam, something which has allowed me to apply all I have learned throughout the years, but in a school setting. I have taught children ranging in age from 3 years to 16 years old and have really enjoyed the challenge of teaching English as a second language. In June of last year, I was promoted to the position of Senior Teacher at my centre. This involved the new responsibility of reviewing my peers’ lessons and providing them with critical feedback on how to improve in their role as teacher. In November of last year, I was promoted to the role of Head Teacher at my centre, which made me responsible for all admin, scheduling, staff training and staff assessment at the centre, as well as still making sure to maintain my own high standards of teaching in the classroom. I really enjoyed the challenge of this new role and I look forward to applying all I have learned this past year in a new environment.

My name is Megan, I am 25 years old and I have been an ESL teacher for two and a half years now. I truly enjoy teaching and I love to travel and learn about different cultures.

Before starting my ESL journey I dabbled in a few other things.  I've been part of a volunteer outreach to a children's home in South Africa,  and worked as a volunteer temp at church for a few years.
In terms of previous employment, while studying I worked at a bookstore called Exclusive Books.  After obtaining my degree I worked for Education First  Hefei China.  I've since moved to China and have been teaching at a company called Education First.

Currently I have two additional Cambridge Certified TKT qualifications and am working towards obtaining another. 

I have previously worked in retail and an office job where I was always working as part of a team, communicating with coworkers and customers and problem solving. I have experience working with the public, working using microsfsoft programmes and customer service. I believe from my expeience within these jobs I have a very humble personality. I have always been laid back and easy going but very motivated to work hard and see results.

I have 8 years of professional experience working in a challenging environment in London. I began professionally working in the city directly from school at 18 years old so I have learnt to build confidence and to accept new challenges with enthusiasm.

During my career I have lead a number of courses for my colleagues so can comfortably state that I enjoy teaching and that this is a new adventure I would like to pursue.

I am out-going, sociable and someone who always wishes to learn from others.

Since completing my Master’s degree, I have pursued opportunities to teach English as a foreign language. Not only am I committed to inspiring students and maximising individual performance, I aspire to work within a team and advance my teaching skills.

Last year, I completed a CELTA qualification, achieving a Pass-B grade. The programme was both challenging and rewarding, and I have included and adapted the teaching techniques that I learnt in my lesson plans. I always use different methods in my classes in order to motivate children and introduce them to new experiences within the classroom.

In my most recent position as an English teacher at a Hagwon in Gwanggyo, I am dedicated to helping students acknowledge and reach their full potential whilst sharing my subject knowledge in innovative and inspiring ways. It is a pleasure to witness students develop their skills within the English language. Part of my role involves planning diverse and exciting material for lessons. This helps the children to learn conversational skills while they enjoy learning a foreign language.

As an English teacher in Thailand, I developed a curriculum for children aged between three and twelve years old. It was my first time teaching outside of the UK, and it cemented my decision to encourage a love of language in children in foreign countries. In my carefully and creatively planned lessons, I simplified complicated terminology for younger and less confident students, helping to increase their confidence when speaking English.

The skills I have gained at Goldsmiths College are also transferable to this role. The experience provided a valuable opportunity to deliver original ideas and produce excellent written material, which demonstrates my proficiency in the English language. I recognise the importance of self-motivation and self-management in order to maintain a professional demeanour and strong work ethic.

My educational background was in design, however after travelling for a few years a realised that the industry I was seeking wasn’t fulfilling me. As someone who is interested in the expression of self and the human condition, I believe is so Important for humans to express themselves through communication effectively. If I can give that to someone through teaching than I would thoroughly enjoy that.

I love to challenge myself, and learn from new environments and absorb culture. I’ve never been comfortable at home to being somewhere new has always been my desire. And south east Asia has always held a small place in my heart. I’ve never been to Korea, but boy would I love to experience it.

I come from a big family, and I’ve always been a child at heart, though it feels like the world wants us to grow up so quickly. I believe this new step forward is the right choice for me and I’d love to be considered.

I am a very hard working, extroverted individual who is dedicated to achieving the best out of every situation; this can be witnessed in the first class honours grade I achieved in my BA International Relations (Global Politics) degree.
I have experience teaching people aged 6- 21 in various different capacities from teaching in summer schools to providing care to a child one-to-one. My most recent occupation involved me closely engaging with students to provide an enriching university experience through the hosting of thrilling activities, teaching life skills classes and working in a team to run major events. I have also taken on the role of senior mentor at a summer school teaching children aged 6-11. My tasks included leading workshops, activities, tutoring, and mentoring. My excellent communication skills that I have acquired through my many years of work experience will enable me to effectively communicate and thrive in various types of social contexts within the workplace.
I enjoy relating to people of all ages and backgrounds and will be sure to create an approachable, fun environment within the classroom which will enable me to build lasting connections as well as empathise with my students when necessary. I welcome every obstacle that comes my way as it is an opportunity to push myself to the highest capability in order to overcome challenges and gain new skills. My ability to plan ahead, organise and manage time efficiently will serve as a great benefit to my job role and I will wholeheartedly engage in every task placed before me with a positive attitude.

I have taught English in South Korea in the past would love to move back to Korea to teach. Here is some relevant information about me:

I am a Canadian. I am single. I have been teaching English for almost 3 years. I have lived in both South Korea and Japan. Within Asia, I have traveled to China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. I love traveling and learning new things. Living in a foreign country has been a great opportunity to broaden my mind. I'm adventurous and silly. I like to read books, try new foods, and have coffee in a new cafe. . I'm quite relaxed and patient so I'm able to have fun while keeping them engaged for learning. I feel comfortable working with children, especially elementary school level students. I don’t have any prescriptions or handicaps. I am both physically and mentally healthy. I also feel comfortable signing for, and completing, a year long contract. My fingerprints and diploma are currently being processed in Canada, so I am unsure of the exact date they will be ready. I can start working in South Korea as soon as a position is available and my visa documents are ready. I also feel comfortable waiting for a position in February.
