I am a licensed teacher with a genuine interest and passion for English language teaching. (I hold a B.Ed & B.A)+ M.A TESOL – both from Flinders University of South Australia).

I have taught in South Australia for the following:
.15 weeks of full-time teaching as part of my teaching degree
.6 months of part-time contract work for Baptist Care SA. I taught English, math, and research project (South Australian curriculum)
.Relief teaching for the Adult Migrant English Program + New Arrivals Program for Thebarton Senior College

I have all my documents ready (apostilled degrees and a recent national criminal history check).

I have accumulated a wealth of professional experience across multiple industries since the age of seventeen. I have previously worked in Southeast Asia during my time in the Merchant Navy, so I am familiar with working abroad and with people who do not speak English as their first language. I have a friendly, inquisitive and outgoing personality. I love new challenges and strive for success in everything I do.

Through my Geography major while I was in university, I discovered a great love of storytelling and intercultural communications. This love, when combined with my creativity and warm demeanor, make me an approachable and engaging teacher. Language is a fascinating communicative tool; my openminded approach and knowledge gained both through my studies in university and while getting my TEFL certification have shaped me into a curious, driven, and empathetic person.
I have worked teaching young children before, including children with learning disabilities such as autism, and I ensured every day felt both productive and fun for my students.

I have 8 years teaching in public schools in Korea. The majority have been with a co-teacher in the room but leading the class and activities on my own. I have experience planning lessons as well as testing after lessons. I easily connect with students and find ways to have then engage in class even if they are not as interested in English. I am willing to help students outside of class as well as play games in spare time. I like to prepare interactive activities so that students are not spending the whole class time listening to me speak but also having time and chances for them to practice. I get along well with other staff members and in the past have attended staff events outside of work.

I am a compassionate individual exciting about teaching and helping others achieve their goals. My aspirations as an ESL teacher is to contribute towards my student's academic success and help them uncover their learning potential.

I believe I can bring valuable contribution to the ESL students and co-workers within your community. My skill-set is varied and combines writing and conversations skills, and people management skills. Furthermore, acquired knowledge in obtaining my TEFL certificate would allow me to fulfill my duties according to your needs. The following highlight my skills:

University of Seoul: I provided friendly and thorough tutoring services to students. I worked with fellow co-workers to accommodate student needs in a university environment. I adapted different education techniques to ensure measurable improvement in English language comprehension.

I believe I am suited to this role as I am a native English speaker, with previous teaching experience, a passion for helping other people, and an interest in new cultures. I am a hard-working, conscientious person who loves to share knowledge and see others progress. I am able to confidently deal with problems that may arise and use my initiative to overcome challenging situations. I love to communicate with different people, and I have a lot of experience working with children of various ages. My previous teaching position was at a Kindergarten in China.

It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my resume in consideration for a position as an English Teacher at a school in South Korea. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies with a Minor in Asian Studies from Susquehanna University. I have also earned a CELTA certification through Teaching House. Currently, I am completing my final student teaching requirements in order to obtain a Masters in Elementary Education through Grand Canyon University. I am set to receive my Masters’ Degree in May of 2021. I am a highly motivated, outgoing creative professional, looking to utilize my skills as an Educator in order to promote English Language education and cross-cultural understanding as an English Instructor.

I have experience in teaching Adult ESL through my CELTA, and during my time at Susquehanna University I created lesson plans and conducted weekly English conversation classes for the Japanese Exchange students; holding discussions, working on their grammar, spelling, and pronunciation. My most recent teaching experience is teaching English online through “English First Kids.” Every day I teach students in China; Phonics, Grammar, Reading and Listening Skills. Previously, I taught Young Learners, ages 6-9, for one year in South Korea at the former Jayeon Global Leaders Center. There, I taught children English utilizing the school curriculum, World Fairy Tale Adventure. Every day I would teach English through song, games, art, science, math, acting, and various English activities. In addition, I developed educational materials to supplement each lesson to make it enjoyable, and interesting for each of my students. By April 30, 2021, I will have also completed 180 hours of classroom teaching through my Elementary Education Master’s program.

Through my experience teaching ESL, one of the most effective ways I find when teaching is creating stimulating lessons that students will find in everyday life they can relate to and comprehend. By utilizing audio, visuals, songs, creating games, and providing them with positive reinforcement I have seen my students blossom and excel, actively participate, and use the knowledge they have learned in real-world situations. My goal as an educator is to ensure my students have an open, honest, and supportive classroom experience.

I am a hard working individual and have already received a TEFL 120hr certificate and one year work experience teaching in South Korea. I worked at a private academy teaching English as a second language to Kindergarten and Elementary students.

As someone who has been thinking of travelling abroad to teach since leaving university I know that this is something I really want to do. It is not on a whim, or spur of the moment that I will regret, I am passionate about embarking on this new adventure. I have already completed my 140+ TEFL certification and I had an amazing time learning these new skills and way of working. I will be so happy to finally be able to put these skills to use in a real classroom environment. I know that, at first, I may not know everything and that it may feel challenging and different, but I am the kind of person who pushes themselves to do better, and I will always put in maximum effort to succeed. At home, I have two younger siblings who are aged 7 and 10, there is a big age gap but it is something I have grown comfortable with being able to interact well with younger children; to teach and guide them through new experiences and encourage them to be successful. Although it will be different in a classroom environment, these are transferable skills which can be carried through into teaching English abroad. Finally, I have been considering doing my masters degree in education over the past year, but feel as though I have not had enough experiences, or seen enough of the world yet. This would be a great way for me to combine these two things so that I am able to get the most out of this opportunity. I am a positive and energetic person. Having grown up in a big city, I enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy day to day life and like to be out and about exploring and visiting new places. I am a bit of a lone wolf who likes to do things on their own and is more than happy in my own company, however, I like a balance and am excited meeting new people and hanging out with friends in my spare time. I am the kind of person who will adapt well to new environments as I am confident in myself and my abilities. I like to think I am a glass half full kind of person who approaches every challenge with a can do attitude. Even if I am having a down day, there is always something which can pick me up and bring me a spark of joy. I have been interested in visiting Korea for a while and it is something I had looked into a great deal before the corona-virus pandemic. From my research and love for Korean culture, I know that education is held in the highest regard where children are given great opportunities and encouraged to succeed and be the best that they can be. From what I have read online, Koreans are a wonderfully respectful and kind nation, something that is not always true of my home in the UK, I would relish living somewhere people are appreciative of their city and is generally rule abiding. As well as this, I love Korean food, I have a friend who lives in Seoul who is a wonderful chef whom I met whilst at university. She would make amazing traditional Korean dishes of kimchi and bulgogi among others that brought great happiness to everyone who tasted them, I would love to be able to try these foods again and maybe even learn to cook some myself. I am a big fan of Korean entertainment as well, I was introduced by my friend (previously mentioned) to K-Dramas and K-Pop as well as K-Beauty which I was instantly adoring of. Overall, I would say that I have gained a very good idea of life in Korea through friends as well as researching online, however, to be given the opportunity to live there first hand whilst working would be such a great and wonderful experience.
