I enjoy learning and teaching new languages and immersing myself in new cultures. I love connecting with other people and truly being part of my local community and I hope to continue learning and growing more while teaching. I currently have my 120-hour TEFL certification and I do have some experience in math tutoring and childcare. I also have worked in a management capacity in multiple other industries and am very well-acquainted with public speaking.

I bring a solid foundation in ESL teaching through my CELTA training, where I had the opportunity to teach diverse adult learners from Brazil and Japan in six different sessions. This hands-on experience helped me develop a deep understanding of language acquisition, along with effective strategies for engaging students from various cultural backgrounds. My training has honed my ability to tailor lessons to meet individual needs, ensuring both linguistic growth and learner confidence. This experience has equipped me with the practical skills to create dynamic, interactive, and communicative lessons, fostering an environment where students feel motivated to improve their English proficiency.

If one were to ask my friends and family to describe me, they would describe me, as a very caring, diverse, perfectionist and energetic intelligent woman. I am a private yet enthusiastic person that enjoys whatever I do in life. As a perfectionist, I take great pride in many things, particularly school and work. Organization is important to me in both my personal and professional lives because it allows me to make the most of my opportunities.

I believe that one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the range of my experiences. In addition to my master's and bachelor's degrees, I am fluent in English and have a natural talent for applying the foundations of information technology to convey human experiences.

My expectations and thoughts about any job position are consistent with all other occupations and future obstacles I will experience in life. Tolerance, acceptance, and understanding are all different in everyday life, including tolerating or accepting persons who are different from ourselves.

Experience: I taught Sunday School and led youth Bible study at my church back home in San Francisco for four years while in High School. Today I like to volunteer with the youth programs at my local church. I enjoy working with kids. I learn more from them and they bring me joy.

Personality: I am bubbly, have a ton of energy and have a very positive outlook on life. My personality type is ENFP; the campaigner. I only want to see others win and achieve their highest goals. I am a cheerleader and supporter and a people person. I am extremely outgoing, can adapt to any environment and talk to any person.

Skills: I am adaptable, a fast learner, a problem solver and I am very empathetic. My strongest skill is that when a problem arises, I immediately go into solution mode rather than panic. I am excellent at time management, organization, leadership and offering good direction. If there is a goal set before me, I achieve it.

My name is Mackenzie and I am currently a Student Services Specialist at a community college. I have been teaching kids at various jobs for about 8 years now. I started off as a summer camp counselor, where I would independently lead classes of up to 15 kids (ages 4-13, depending on the class). I taught dance classes, theater classes, cooking classes, and engineering classes. I also worked as a teacher’s aid for a class of 3rd grade students (ages 8-9). In that role, I focused primarily on reading and writing skills with the kids, and finding creative ways to engage kids in making learning fun! In college, I volunteered reading books to primary school kids, as well as helping them read and develop their skills.
I also have my 220-hour Level 5 TEFL certification, which included Zoom sessions that allowed me to practice preparing and delivering English lesson plans to an actual class. I learned a lot of really great skills and techniques from the TEFL course, especially about teaching English in an understandable way and making English fun and engaging! After all, I believe that students learn best when they are truly engaged and interested in the material.
I am passionate about teaching and helping people, and I think that makes me a great English teacher. I am observant, compassionate, and I really pay attention to each individual student’s goals and progress. I have always had a knack for teaching in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. My TEFL teacher mentions in her recommendation letter that I have a confident teaching style and a great ability to establish rapport with any class.
Also, I am familiar with Korean culture and customs because I studied abroad at Hanyang University!
