With a Master’s degree in Journalism and six years of experience working in media, I have developed an exceptional command of written and spoken English. My work as a journalist required me to communicate complex ideas clearly, understand the structure and nuance of language, and engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds. These skills, combined with my recent TEFL training, have given me a strong foundation for teaching English.

I have also taken on management responsibilities in recent years, mentoring and supporting junior journalists as they developed their skills. I found this highly rewarding, and it played a major part in motivating me to pursue teaching.

Alongside my professional experience, I possess a strong interest in cultural exchange. I have travelled widely across Europe, North America, and South-East Asia, and these experiences have strengthened my ability to adapt to new environments and connect with people from different backgrounds.

In terms of personality, I am warm, outgoing and charismatic. These were also essential qualities during my years in journalism, and they put me in a great position to bond easily with students and colleagues.

I recently returned to the United States after working with kindergarten and elementary students at SLP Osan. I taught phonics, reading, speaking, and writing. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a 120-hour TEFL certification.

My strengths come from a mix of classroom exposure, strong communication habits, and a calm, people‑centered personality. Through substitute teaching, I’ve supported learners by giving clear instructions, breaking down information simply, and helping students stay focused and confident. I’m patient, adaptable, and empathetic, which helps me build trust and respond well when students are unsure or need extra guidance. My background in coordination and communication also means I stay organized, prepare thoroughly, and keep lessons running smoothly, while my creativity helps me design engaging, easy‑to-follow activities for English learners.

I have a strong background in communication and working directly with diverse groups of people. Through my roles with organisations supporting refugees and survivors of trafficking, I gained experience engaging with individuals from many cultural backgrounds and communicating information clearly and sensitively. I have also organised large-scale events, managed forums and written professional communications for a wide range of audiences, which has strengthened both my written and verbal English skills. These communications include social media, open letters and speeches for events.

Personality-wise, I’m friendly, curious and adaptable. I have a very positive demeanour, and I enjoy creating open, collaborative environments where people feel included. Within the context of my work running refugee drop-in sessions, my personality helped create an environment where people felt comfortable participating, asking questions and seeking guidance.

In terms of skills, I bring strong organisation, clear communication and attention to detail, as well as the ability to explain ideas in an accessible way. I’m also currently completing a 120-hour TEFL course to establish my English teaching skills.

I have a bachelor's in Ecology from the University of Georgia, and a TEFL certificate from The TEFL Academy. I have all my documents ready including apostilled background check, diploma, and passport. I'm very excited about the opportunity to teach English in Korea.

I have a background in accounting, but I do also have some experience teaching. I was a graduate teaching assistant at New Mexico Highlands University for one year, where I was grading students' assignments and holding office hours once a week. Later on, I worked at the Athens Georgia YMCA for 2.5 years as a lifeguard, and also teaching swimming lessons to children ages 6-12 and adults. I believe I'm a naturally good teacher. Since I'm a naturally inquisitive person and I love to learn new things, my teaching philosophy is to try to tap into students' natural curiosity and get them excited about the learning process.

I am a friendly and open-minded person, and I do well in a team dynamic. The reason I'm interested in a hagwon job is that I've heard it's a good place to start one's teaching career. I would prefer to teach primary, but am open to teaching some kindergarten classes if the job requires it.
