I am a clear and effective communicator. I am a able to speak English at the highest level and am an excellent educator. I have a background as a tutor with dozens of long term clients.

I bring a unique perspective to teaching English. With a strong professional background in
business and finance and experience working abroad, I understand the challenges and
opportunities students face when learning a second language for academic, professional, or
personal goals. I have successfully taught students from diverse backgrounds, tailoring my
lessons to suit individual learning styles and needs. My time in Brazil, where I also developed
Portuguese fluency, has reinforced my ability to connect with students in multicultural
environments and adapt lessons to their context.

As a teacher, my greatest asset is my bubbly and energetic personality, which I use to create an infectiously positive learning environment. I thrive on making personal connections with students, fostering a classroom atmosphere where enthusiasm is both encouraged and contagious. My ability to maintain a high level of optimism and approachability means I can quickly put students at ease, making them feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and fully engage with the material. This combination of warmth and clear communication ensures every lesson is not just understood, but genuinely enjoyed, driving both student participation and academic growth.

I am a passionate and adaptable individual who loves travelling and the cross-culture experiences that come with this. Being a Youth Worker, I also enjoy teaching children and working out how their minds work in such differing ways. With an English Literature degree from a Russel Group University, I have an aptitude for learning myself, as well as the skills to not only teach the English language, but look for ways in which to excel the children's vocabulary. I am eager to create engaging, student-centred lessons that support students of all levels to not only gain an interest for English, but come to love the language and the learning process that comes behind this.

The prospect of living (and working) abroad truly excites me. I love immersing myself in whatever culture I'm thrust into and would say I thrive in diverse environments. Growing up in London and studying in Liverpool, I have already lived in progressive places that uphold these diverse values and am enthusiastic at the prospect of continuing this.

I am originally from the USA, but attended school in Cape Town, South Africa for 3 years, and have been living in working in Mauritius. I have experience living in foreign countries and am able to quickly adapt to new cultures and environments. At the University of Cape Town, I took courses in French and Xhosa, so I understand what it is like to be a student of a language and what methods of teaching are most effective and engaging for students. Taking these language courses has also allowed me to understand the fundamentals of linguistics and the basic building blocks of how languages are structured.

During my time at university, I worked as sports coach at a local high school in Cape Town, in which I gained invaluable experience as an educator, and how to work effectively with teenagers. This job really taught me not only how to manage a group of students, but how to effectively plan out a lesson in a limited time slot, all of which are extremely useful skills that will translate to a classroom setting.

I have also participated in a language exchange program, which gave me the opportunity to meet with a student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo every week and teach them English while they taught me French. This program allowed me to gain experience with instructing non-native speakers in English.

While I may not have formal English teaching experience, I have completed a 120 hour TEFL course, and have worked in various situations that have given me experience with languages, working with students, and teaching. I also believe that my enthusiasm, ability to adapt to new environments, and my communication skills will make me an excellent teacher.

I am a TESOL-certified ESL teacher of 13 years with experience teaching youth/juniors as well as adults. I am a Canadian citizen and resident of 27 years and have taught in two of the biggest ESL schools in Vancouver, BC, Canada: SELC Canada and ILSC Education Group. Further, I have tutored ESL students and taught 3 weeks of online Zoom ESL classes. In addition to teaching general English classes, I also teach specialized ESL like pronunciation, film and drama, and screenplay writing workshops as well as resume/cover letter writing workshops.

I am a dynamic, caring, and energetic teacher who makes it a goal to keep classes an interactive and fun learning experience for my students!
