My name is Kritina Maharaj and I am from Durban, South Africa. I currently hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Science (Cum Laude) from the University of South Africa and a National Diploma in Video Technology from The Durban University of Technology. I also possess a TEFL certificate from The TEFL Academy, where I completed 168 hours Level 5 Diploma.
During my time at Independent Media, I was able to hone my instructional skills by leading sessions where I taught interns the nuances of video editing. This experience enhanced my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, tailoring the learning process to individual needs, and fostering an engaging educational environment. Moreover, it solidified my belief in the importance of adaptable and innovative teaching methodologies, a mindset I am eager to bring to your programme.

In addition to my video editing mentorship role, I have completed 10 hours of classroom teaching practice, providing me with first-hand experience in delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons. This hands-on experience, combined with my dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, has equipped me with the skills necessary to effectively engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.

I have always been captivated by the richness of Korean culture. From its deep- rooted traditions to the dynamic modernity seen in its entertainment and technological advancements, Korea has always held a special place in my heart.

I'm passionate about teaching and believe that Korea offers a vibrant and rewarding environment for educators. The dedication of Korean students to their studies and the emphasis placed on education resonate deeply with me. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to their educational journey.

My ideal location would be Seoul and the age group that I would like to teach is kindergarten.

I also volunteered with my local secondary school during the State Exams and acted as a reader for students with dyslexia. In my personality, I am conscientious, friendly and organised. I have a great attention to detail and am dedicated to providing the best service possible. In terms of skill, I possess both a Bachelors and Master’s degree, as well as my TEFL qualification.

In terms of experience, while I may not have prior experience in teaching English as a foreign language, I have a strong background in customer service and communication which has honed my ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. In addition, my passion for learning new languages and cultures has fueled my desire to pursue a career in TEFL/TESOL, which I acquired my Level 5 Diploma.

In regard to personality, I am patient, adaptable, and empathetic which are crucial traits for a TEFL/TESOL teacher. I believe in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and making mistakes. I also value collaboration and am always open to feedback in order to continuously improve as an educator.

Lastly, my skills include strong interpersonal communication, time management, and creativity. I believe in tailoring my lessons to suit the individual learning styles and needs of my students in order to maximize their language acquisition. I am also resourceful and able to adapt lesson plans on the spot to ensure that students are engaged and making progress.
