From June 2018-February 2020 I worked as an English Teacher in Beijing, China, thus giving me nearly two years of experience. During my time in Beijing, I learned the challenges and joys of teaching English to students as their second language. I believe a student is best engaged and learns effectively when they are developing intellectually, emotionally, and physically. By focusing on whole child development, the students will get more out of each lesson, as no area is being neglected. Because of this, I strive to make each one of my lessons fun and engaging for the students, and make my classroom a safe and inviting place for students to be themselves. To make the students comfortable, I always greet each student individually and practice patience, especially when students are struggling with the material. Having patience with young learners is critical to their success, and perhaps one of my most valued strengths as a teacher. In addition, I make my lessons engaging by incorporating games and interaction in my lessons. I enjoy doing activities in my lessons that involve all types of skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I do my best to incorporate multiple skills at a time, so children are continually challenged throughout the lesson. Because not every student learns in the same way, I try to vary each activity to best cater all students. For example, I believe each lesson should contain activities that include things for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Some lessons will include games that get the children up and moving, some include songs and chants, and some may be focused on drawing and using fine motor skills with craft projects. I enjoy diversifying my lessons so each day provides something new and exciting.

I am a hardworking yet kind hearted teacher. I am very open and positive, which I believe has been one of my greatest strengths as an English Language teacher. A joy and passion working with children and adults. Experience educating in my local aquarium with tour sizes from 4-20 students and ages ranging from 3 years old to college students. Teaching topics would include species identification, adaptations, habitat, water quality and conservation. Organization, patience and time management are skills that I excel in.

My most recent experience in teaching is when I taught English in Shenzhen, China to 4-6 year olds from sept 2019 to Jan 2020. I have gained many skills though this, most notably my confidence, when teaching those at a young age its important to make the lessons fun with games and songs, so I had to let go of insecurities like 'looking silly'. The second most important skill I learnt was patience, I had a class of around 23, all at different stages in the English language development, not only did I have to be patient with those who lacked behind, but I also had to be flexible in ensuring those who were at a higher level were still engaged with the lesson.
I perform well in stressful situations, and find it easy to work with my colleagues. I love to explore and experience new things, and I'm not afraid to throw myself into new environments for example, when I arrived in China, it was the first time I had ever been abroad! Despite this, I was able to adapt very easily to the new culture and climate.

I have come to a path in my life where I want to pursue something I’m passionate about doing which would be teaching children. I had research and looked into TEFL courses which would help me take the step in the correct direction for my goal. I have since completed my TEFL course (December 2019) which has helped push my personal growth and development.

My name is Hope Warren and I am an English graduate and communications professional holding a 120-hour TEFL certification. I have over 100 hours experience teaching ESL online to children.

I have a passion for communications and the English language which I love to share with eager learners. In my experience so far, teaching has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done. As someone who has worked in a foreign country for a year prior to this year, I was interested to see the vacancy you had open in Korea to teach English as a profession and feel this is something I could excel in. Throughout the years I have been teaching, I have gained experience in catering for the learning needs of students. I have had the opportunity to work with students that have disabilities and specific learning needs who require additional support. To best support students, I always ensure my lesson plans incorporate differentiation and resources that allow students to excel in their academic learning to the best of their abilities.
