I have quite a bit of experience in teaching various subjects and taking care of young children. I've looked after and tutored children for a number of years and taught English for a year to mainly preschoolers as well as elementary and middle school aged kids in Taiwan.

I have always been fascinated by language. This fascination is what drove me to get my bachelor's degree in linguistics with a minor in French. In the past, I have studied multiple languages formally and informally such as French, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, and German.

I am passionate about the English language and have a great deal of experience working with it. This includes through my English literature degree and my work as print news editor for my student newspaper.

I also have a great deal of professional experience working in a team. I currently work at UBS where I collaborate with others on a daily basis to achieve a variety of goals. I also oversee long term projects and help to see them through.

Finally, I am a positive and enthusiastic person who will throw myself into any challenges or new experiences. Furthermore, I am kind-natured and friendly which makes me well suited to working with children.

I have often been told by my students’ parents that their children feel loved and cared for in my classroom. When I started teaching, one of my student caught my eye as being constantly aggressive and hostile. I kept him after school for an hour each week, but instead of detention, I asked him to help me clean up the classroom and prepare the lessons for the next day. He just wanted to talk, and I could sense that. As part of my bachelors degree, I studied a module called 'Communicating and teaching Mathematics', which involved researching and evaluating how effective various teaching methodologies are in different scenarios. From this, I am able to determine which teaching style is most suitable in specific contexts and develop a good understanding of child development. In addition, we were also required to design two learning resources for secondary school students. My creativity enabled me to produce original and engaging content that aided the students in transitioning to their next level of education.

Having worked as a private Maths tutor for Primary and Secondary school students and as a Mentor for first year university students, I have experience in working with a variety of age groups. I was able to successfully adapt my style and produce the appropriate learning material for the differing audiences. I created a positive energy within my lessons to inspire confidence in the students and to motivate them to achieve their full potential. Also, my personable approach allowed me to quickly build trusting relationships.

As a hobby, I have a huge interest in travelling and embracing different cultures. Given there are over 160 nationalities at my university, I am experienced in working in a multicultural setting and I am sensitive to different cultural values and customs. A personal attribute of mine that I think will benefit this workplace is that I am very patient. As children grow, they learn how to socialize and communicate with others. At first, it may be difficult to understand children as they learn these developmental skills, but I am willing to calmly interact with the student in order to fully comprehend their perspective of the situation.

In addition to patience, I am very friendly. In fact, strangers often ask me for directions or other types of assistance while I am walking around town. With childcare educational programs, I want children to be able to have fun with a variety of activities, and I believe that if I present myself with an optimistic yet professional attitude, I can become more approachable to children if they require assistance.

An experience that may contribute to my qualifications is my employment with the City of Richmond as a substitute sports instructor, preschool worker, and day camp volunteer. During those times, I interacted with a variety of age groups including preschoolers, and I was able to support the children by planning and implementing games into the class. If situations arose where children misbehaved, I was able to digress the matter by calmly speaking to them about their actions. Resolving issues also allowed me to communicate well with other employees and meticulously carry out duties assigned to me.

I am a native English speaker with elementary Spanish skills (I will be completing A2 Spanish in June 2021) and I am looking for new career opportunities abroad and online. After university I obtained a TEFL qualification that trained me to teach English as a foreign language. That helped me focus on the fundamentals of English.
For those reasons, I have exceptional writing skills in English and a great eye for detail when it comes to writing and speaking.

My knowledge of a foreign language, among other South African languages, allows me to be culturally aware and use this diversity as a tool in my my work.

In my experience as a teaching assistant at a local secondary school I gained an insight into both the demands of teachers and the importance of teacher/student relationships. I have developed the ability to interact with pupils on a professional and nurturing level. As well as subject planning, I was responsible for preparing worksheets, activities, and homework to enable students to improve their grades. I became aware of the satisfaction that can be gained in working with children through observing their development, progress, and achievements. Initial teaching skills were developed when I began working as a tutor which consisted of two hours per week at the local community centre. I planned and delivered revision sessions allowing the students to compare what they knew before the revision lesson and what they knew after it was discussed as a class.
I am a motivated individual who is realistic and acknowledges the many challenges that teaching will bring and strives to meet them. Recent teaching experience has taught me that every child is capable of reaching tremendous heights and it is my goal to possess the required skills, qualities, and attitude to successfully play a key role in helping them to achieve their true potential.

Despite my degree being in literature, I minored in cultural studies which included but wasn't limited to sociology, psychology, education and so forth. Due to the extensiveness of my educational practice, I got to intern in multiple classroom settings. I had the opportunity to intern at a culture based daycare to teach Japanese to children ages 2-5 and to be an assistant teacher in a social justice literature class with students age 14-16. Outside of internship experiences, I was also a classroom aid at the local daycare near my college and also volunteered to teach Japanese at the accommodating elementary school. During the summers, I worked at day camps with children from low-income families ages 4-16. Through these diverse experiences I was able to learn how to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to the environment. I was also able to gather a sense of leadership and teamwork by having the chance to both lead and assist in classroom settings.

I am writing this as I am very interested in your available teaching position and believe I would be perfect for the position. I have just completed my History degree at Queen’s University Belfast and am expected to graduate with a 2:1 in July. I am hoping to pursue a career in education and completed a TEFL qualification in my final year in order to get closer to this goal. I became interested in teaching when I started to help other children learn to read in 2016 and after this I joined a programme within my high school where I gave aid to disabled children who also went to my school. I am a native English speaker and have experience of studying and teaching at a university-level in the UK. I am currently finishing a PhD in Film Studies at University College London (UCL), having previously studied BA History and MA Film Studies at the same institution. I have considerable teaching experience, having taught at both BA and MA levels in UCL’s History and Film Studies departments, as well as experience teaching high school students. While the age groups are different to elementary children, I believe many of the core teaching skills are transferable. An engaging presentation style, patience, energy, and enthusiasm, for example, are all attributes that I would bring to the position. Most importantly I love children and am both passionate and committed to helping and challenging students reach their full potential.

In 2018 I took part in a teacher training course offered by UCL which developed my teaching skills. The course focused on offering practical advice on teaching practices and methods to create an effective and comfortable learning environment. It really developed my teaching practices, and much of the advice learnt on this course would be transferable to this position too. I am currently undertaking TEFL training, to further my teaching skills. I intend to obtain the 120-hour certificate by the end of this month.

Alongside past teaching experience I have many other skills and attributes to bring to the role. I have, for example, excellent time management, problem solving, and organisational skills. I am also a creative person, enjoying art and crafts in my spare time. I am confident in my ability to work independently but also enjoy working with others as part of a team. I have worked in a variety of jobs, all of which have taught me unique, valuable skills. In these jobs, I have been to over 40 countries and encountered countless people from all over the world. It has made me more openminded and boosted my social and communication skills.
I have worked in many different teams and I have learnt I thrive in social environments, the main reason for this is because I enjoy socialising. I am no stranger to hard work, I worked 7 days a week on a cruise ship for over a year, I take pride in my work and strive to make everyone I work with enjoy what they’re doing. My outgoing personality helps me to do this as I connect with people and aim to bring out the best in them.
While working on the cruise ship as a photographer I would take group pictures, ranging from 2-100+ people. This was a great way for me to speak with large groups while communicating my ideas to them and instructing them in a precious manner. It was also a job which helped me maintain patience and a calm attitude.

I am a recent graduate from Boston University, where I studied Economics and Korean. Currently, I work in the finance field; however, I am looking to transition to a career in teaching.

I understand that this can be seen as an odd jump, but I believe that my personality and skill set may be an excellent fit for teaching. I pride myself on my time management skills, resilience, and understanding. When teaching, I hope to be flexible and resilient and adjust to working with others and my fellow students effectively.

Outside of my current professional experience, I also have experience working with students in various capacities. I worked as an admissions associate at my university, where I worked with high school students, held information sessions, and taught them about the college process. I also have experience tutoring SAT Math to individuals.

My strengths are that I am a good communicator and am able to listen and evaluate different opinions reasonably. I am also able to adjust easily to new environments and work with others to achieve the best outcome for any project. As, a recent University graduate I have become more efficient with the work I do and am able to manage through hard situations and take initiative when needed. Also, when working as a Tutor for AVID, I became responsible for middle school and high school students by leading them to complete their work and ask questions if they didn't understand concepts being taught to them. As an AVID tutor you have to motivate students to achieve their own understanding instead of just presenting them the answer, which can be difficult for students but with asking the right questions it will eventually lead them to it. From my experience of being a University student and Tutor, specifically, I have learned how to adjust to new environment and people as well as engage/ motivate students to learn and ask questions to get a better understanding from what they are taught. Through past experience with working as a teacher’s assistance and tutor, it has allowed me to develop communication skills needed to effectively assist and teach middle school and high school students. Additionally, it has allowed me to gain confidence in being able to adapt to all students’ needs and learning levels. It has also allowed me to develop traits that make a teacher efficient with communicating with students and make them more engage in their learning.

Throughout my career, I have had many experiences as a teacher, specifically as a senior trainer at Kings wood camp in Guangzhou and while teaching university exchange students as an assistant language teacher in Sheffield. These experiences have led me to growing my skills as a teacher.
