I am a recent graduate of The Open University, majoring in English Language and Literature and I am highly interested in obtaining a position in the field of teaching English as a second/foreign language through Gloii. I am positive I would be able to fulfil the duties required for the various positions available as I have experience in teaching both children and adults in online and classroom settings.

My interest in the role stems from my warm and welcoming personality as well as my desire to help people fulfil their language learning goals. My work with Cambly Inc. consisted of speaking with people from all over the world; specifically South Korea, Japan, and China where most of my regular student reside, teaching course materials provided by both myself and Cambly. The course materials covered a range of subjects, such as grammar, vocabulary, business English, casual conversations, travel phrases and more. My involvement with Cambly has further helped me to enunciate correctly to ensure understanding amongst my students, and it allowed me to expand my teaching skills.

In addition to teaching online, I have experience teaching in a physical classroom through Little English (Gibraltar) where I teach English as a foreign language primarily to children as well as general English for local students. Little English (Gibraltar) involved interaction with the students and playing educational games in order to make it more engaging. Furthermore, in Little English (Gibraltar) I was required to create my own lesson plans and provide feedback to parents when necessary. Additionally, I became familiar with a classroom setting and using physical materials, such as flash cards and worksheets.

Apart from the above I am a keen individual who is willing to learn the language and culture of South Korea. I am confident in my abilities and consider myself able to meet the job specifications as my education and experience match the required criteria. I am well-spoken and professional, and computer literate. I would highly value the opportunity to provide my services to your organisation.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. My main subjects were Anthropology and Sociology with electives in English literature. I am proficient in the English language and have assisted with editing art related texts for interviews, newsletter entries, exhibition texts and catalogues. I volunteer with an organization doing outreach with young people within my community and tutor an elementary student with English reading. I am hardworking, friendly, adaptable and have excellent cultural competence.

I am a professional candidate with communication skills that build a safe and friendly environment.

In my work experience as a youth worker, I developed my teaching skills. In this role, I supervised and supported activities and citizen workshops. My interpersonal skills created an effective line of communication for mentoring; I used creativity as a way to interact with service users and create a safe space.

My 150 hour TEFL teaching certificate structured my teaching and management skills. I now have skills in classroom management, lesson planning and teaching English as a foreign language. I have a fun and logical personality, this is great for interactive methods in a classroom setting. As an online ESL teacher, I was able to put these skills into practice.

Experience wise, I have demonstrated my commitment to education and childcare through roles such as Camp Manager at Starcamp, where I showcased leadership and organisational skills, and my current position as a special needs assistant at St. Vincent's Convent Primary School. My background in BA(Hons) Early Childhood Studies and ongoing pursuit of a Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy underpin my passion for working with children. Additionally, my previous employment at ABC Childcare further solidified my understanding of childcare practices. Recently, I completed a TEFL Level 5 Diploma, enhancing my qualifications for teaching English, particularly relevant for the position I am seeking in South Korea. I have previously worked with children between the ages of 3-10 whilst at Tinies. This included supervising the children and helping to plan and carry out activities that were engaging for them.

Whilst volunteering in Nepal I had to work with both children and adults who spoke a different language to me. I was still able to communicate with them in other ways and had good relationships within the community. As a group we also planned and presented informative presentations for the community which involved role plays – this included presentations specifically to school children.

Whilst working at the Eddystone trust I had to do presentations for college age students (aged 16-19) on sexual health topics. I had to make presentations engaging and also incorporate audience involvement. We also had to work at freshers fairs and speak with hundreds of people about sexual health. Both show I am confident and able to speak in front of a group of people.

I am patient and know that people learn at different speeds and in different ways so would be adaptable to this. I am also friendly and approachable so hopefully students would be happy to come to me with any questions. I am very enthusiastic and enjoy working with children as I love their creativity and energy.
