I am a dedicated and hardworking individual with excellent communication skills which I've consolidated through my years of service in the hospitality sector. I demonstrate a high level of leadership both in and out of the workplace, being responsible for up to twenty staff and also captaining sports clubs in my extra-curricular life, both at university and in my post university life. I am very excited for the opportunity to teach English abroad in South Korea. I have been a working professional in the music industry for 10 years and have been considering shifting careers into a teaching position since last year. I have built quite the creative skillset due to the artistic nature of my career so far. Innovation, creativity and Empathy are among my greatest assets. I have a wealth of experience teaching music in one-on-one private lessons and small group learning environments. My first exposure to teaching was as a TA in University during my Master’s Program. I designed my own syllabus and curriculum based on the resources the school wished for me to use. I taught that class for three semesters. After graduation, I started teaching privately at an after school music academy in Loveland Colorado called the Loveland Academy of Music. My voice studio there consisted of 8-12 students at any given time. I also ran a master class once a month for a small group of up to 5 students for a group lesson. Eventually I opened my own private practice and have been teaching independently ever since.

In addition to those experiences, I also served as the Children’s Director for the Mountain Ancestor’s Grove Church in Longmont Colorado. Through this experience I had the opportunity to plan, prepare, and deliver curriculum and programming for a small group of children of various ages.

Other teaching experiences I have gathered over the years include substitute teaching in Conroe ISD as a part-time substitute teacher and working at a summer camp for St. Bartholomew in Katy Texas, the church that currently employs me. I have been internshiping with elementary school students, from grades 3 to special education. What I do love about being a part of the educational system is that there is ways to improve a students scores and behavior in the classroom. For example I have used to engage with students during reading time, by reading a specific sentence that they are having trouble with and also asking them their own thoughs into the sentance. In the future I would like to also engage students before a exam/quiz, using fun games like kahoot, quizet and more apps to engage. Not only I experienced the curriculum but even outside of the classroom there is potential for students to engage in nature and culture of the city or place. My skills usually are complex like engaging with the student on a specific word or problem, behavior managment to control stong emotions into positive emotions in the classroom, engaging in numerous of educational toys like building blocks and sticks, being attentive into students needs or care, creating lesson plans that are fun and engaging to students.

Some qualities that I believe would make me a good candidate are that I am very punctual, level-headed, creative, easy going, and patient. I have been teaching in Korea for almost two years now and really love living and working here. I lived in Korea for a year, around seven years ago, too. I have experience teaching children and adults in other countries too, having taught in Spain and Madagascar. So I have gained a lot of experience, mostly teaching elementary age children, although I have taught all ages, from 4 – 60.

These years of teaching have allowed me to develop my teaching style carefully. I am a calm and patient teacher who likes to create strong working relationships with my students. I am fair and consistent with my temperament and I am a teacher that students can trust. This is my natural personality. I never get angry and I am kind and generous with my colleagues and students.

I have a postgraduate degree in Adult Education, Community Work and Youth Work which is an education based course. This course taught me a lot about how to be a stronger educator.
