I am a passionate and adaptable individual who loves travelling and the cross-culture experiences that come with this. Being a Youth Worker, I also enjoy teaching children and working out how their minds work in such differing ways. With an English Literature degree from a Russel Group University, I have an aptitude for learning myself, as well as the skills to not only teach the English language, but look for ways in which to excel the children's vocabulary. I am eager to create engaging, student-centred lessons that support students of all levels to not only gain an interest for English, but come to love the language and the learning process that comes behind this.

The prospect of living (and working) abroad truly excites me. I love immersing myself in whatever culture I'm thrust into and would say I thrive in diverse environments. Growing up in London and studying in Liverpool, I have already lived in progressive places that uphold these diverse values and am enthusiastic at the prospect of continuing this.

I am a passionate, hard working, easy to get along with, and really enjoy working with kids of all ages.

I am originally from the USA, but attended school in Cape Town, South Africa for 3 years, and have been living in working in Mauritius. I have experience living in foreign countries and am able to quickly adapt to new cultures and environments. At the University of Cape Town, I took courses in French and Xhosa, so I understand what it is like to be a student of a language and what methods of teaching are most effective and engaging for students. Taking these language courses has also allowed me to understand the fundamentals of linguistics and the basic building blocks of how languages are structured.

During my time at university, I worked as sports coach at a local high school in Cape Town, in which I gained invaluable experience as an educator, and how to work effectively with teenagers. This job really taught me not only how to manage a group of students, but how to effectively plan out a lesson in a limited time slot, all of which are extremely useful skills that will translate to a classroom setting.

I have also participated in a language exchange program, which gave me the opportunity to meet with a student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo every week and teach them English while they taught me French. This program allowed me to gain experience with instructing non-native speakers in English.

While I may not have formal English teaching experience, I have completed a 120 hour TEFL course, and have worked in various situations that have given me experience with languages, working with students, and teaching. I also believe that my enthusiasm, ability to adapt to new environments, and my communication skills will make me an excellent teacher.

I, Tshireletso Boitshepo Bonokwane, am applying for the English teaching position. I’m
from South Africa. I currently live and work in South Korea. I am a 31-year-old female. In
2023, I graduated with a degree in forensic science and technology. I received my 120-
hour TEFL certificate on August 10th, 2022. I’m currently employed at two public schools
in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea. My main school is a middle school
where I work four days a week, and my travel school is an elementary school where I
work once a week and teach five sixth-grade classes. I started my contract in this current school and my travel school on 26th April 2023, and I’ll be completing my contract on 28th February 2026. I would like to start the job preferably in March or April 2026.
I think of myself as a diligent worker and a leader. I’m quite good at solving problems. I
value honesty and a hands-on approach, and as a team player, I am equally adept at
conveying the goals and vision of any organisation I work with. I collaborate with people on
a technical and human level. I ask questions and provide detailed explanations while being
patient. I have a strong background in education and a strong interest in kids and learning
in general. I believe that working as an English Native Teacher in South Korea for nearly
three years, together with previous experience in my home country as an Educational
Assistant at a combined school, has provided me with the necessary knowledge and skills
as a teacher.

I am an empathetic and hardworking educator with a strong work ethic and a passion for ensuring each of my students reaches their full potential.
I am a qualified teacher in the United Kingdom, holding Qualified Teacher Status, with four years of teaching experience. I taught at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate for two years between 2022 and 2024. This is a private, independent, and international boarding school, in which 53% of the student population comes from overseas. Queen Ethelburga’s offers education to both primary and secondary-aged students, with varying levels of English as an Additional Language ability.

Over time, I have developed my teaching practice to become an adaptable and responsive teacher, able to identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate support to ensure every student can succeed. I am well versed in pedagogy, and as an advocate for lifelong learning, I strive to continually improve my teaching through research, observations, and current best practices. In addition to my PGCE in History, I am trained in phonics through the Ruth Miskin Fresh Start programme, and I also hold a Team Teach Level 2 qualification. I also hold a 120-hour TEFL certificate from TEFL.org, completed in 2017.

Prior to completing my teacher training in 2021, I worked as an SEND Lead Practitioner at York High School, supporting the effective running of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities department. Within this role, I was responsible for identifying students with additional needs. I also taught phonics and targeted reading interventions to 170 students three times a week, in small groups of 10–12. I hold a Certificate of Higher Education in Primary Education Studies from the University of Cumbria (completed in 2011), and I have experience working with both primary and secondary-aged students in mainstream and special educational needs settings. To supplement my studies during this time, I also spent a month teaching English as a foreign language to primary and secondary students in a school in Nepal, as well as providing English lessons to school staff in my spare time.

Since leaving Queen Ethelburga’s in August 2024, I have been working as a supply teacher with Just Teachers. I have worked in a range of mainstream and special educational needs settings, in both teaching and pastoral roles. This experience has been highly beneficial to my teaching practice and has equipped me with the ability to walk into any classroom and create a safe and secure learning environment where each child feels valued and empowered to do their best.

I am currently based in the UK and am looking to start a new role in December 2025 or January 2026. I have a flight booked to Thailand on Tuesday 16 December, with a view to travelling to South Korea from there. I would be available to start from Friday 19 December. All of my documentation, apart from the CBC (which I have yet to apply for), has been apostilled and is ready, if needed.
