I am a graduate of the UTJ2 University in Toulouse, where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Foreign Languages, an English and Spanish International Business Course. I master the linguistic and cultural foundations of English and Spanish and, as you will see from my CV, my voluntary and paid work as an English teacher has given me experience in teaching both children and teenagers but it has also given me the opportunity to instruct a wide variety of students from various countries and all faces of society. As a result I am a compassionate teacher, who can adapt to my students personal needs in order to see them grow in confidence through their newfound joy of English studies.

My name is Royon Meerzadah. I graduated from Duquesne University in 2020 with a degree in International Relations and a minor in Political Science and Law. Throughout my time at school I gained experience in teaching by tutoring many foreign exchange students in English, the students I primarily worked with were from Saudi Arabia and Japan. Over the summer of 2020 I worked at a summer camp where I tutored kids from 1st grade to 7th grade in math and science as well as spelling, reading, and writing. Currently I am a teacher's assistant in Spain helping teach kids from 3rd grade to 6th grade English. In my current position I converse with the students in English as well as teach to them American grammar, slang, vocabulary, and culture so they may better understand the language.

I come from a multicultural and ethnic background, due to this I have developed into a very open-minded person. When I was young my family moved back and forth between America and Uzbekistan which made me a type of person that can adapt to different environments easily. I am also a very friendly and outgoing person. I love meeting new people and going to new places. My ability to adapt easily, friendly and outgoing personality is how I found employment in Spain as a teacher's assistant.

I have great time management skills and I am very detail oriented. I developed my time management skills due to working part time and doing internships, while also being a full time university student. This disciplined me into making sure I managed my time wisely. In the past, I worked at a law firm as well as a research facility. Both of these internships emphasized the importance of being detail oriented to make sure there were no mistakes made in our research or projects.

I currently teach English online to Chinese students, both adults and children. Using the curriculum provided, I teach grammar, vocab and conversational English using props, rewards and games to engage learners of all ages.

I have also taught English to local Koreans in my area, as part of an English-Korean Language Exchange I was a part of. We met once a week and the students directed the topics we spoke about.

I am currently a support worker, aiding adults with learning difficulties. I arrange educational and engaging activities to help improve their speaking and understanding, as well as support them in daily tasks. This job enables me to stay patient, creative and find alternative ways of communicating – as many of the adults I care for are non-verbal and require signing, images and gestures – much like teaching someone who speaks a foreign language.

I've been an ESL/MATH teacher in China for two and a half years, working with students aged 2-16 – currently teaching ESL online for 6 months. I've also worked as an Academic Coordinator for the school, and created marketing events for promotion. I have a wide array of knowledge stemming from K1- Primary level. I have developed a significant degree personal autonomy which manifests itself in a strong sense of self-direction, discipline and initiative, from combined experiences in the hospitality and retail sectors as well as experiences in various volunteer roles carried out during my time as an undergraduate student. I am capable of effective time management and am able to communicate ideas, concepts and facts concisely to groups of diverse ages and capabilities. What I lack in practical teaching experience, I make up for with advanced TEFL qualifications and the ability to learn quickly and attentively, thus being able to adjust my techniques and activities accordingly. My degree in theatre has helped me develop confidence speaking to a room full of people. I believe this confidence will help me transition to my role within the classroom and not be able to command the attention of my students effectively. I am a very organised person who likes a challenge and I think this is a challenge I can rise to. Throughout my time at university, I had to work to and meet strict deadlines, which has led to me having good time management. This strength will help me to complete lessons plans promptly and ensures all tasks in the classroom can be completed in the allocated time slot.

My previous roles working in retail have enabled me to be confident in adapting my approach to a wide variety of people and groups. I think this is important when working with students of different abilities as ill be able to tailor my approach to them to ensure they feel valued in the classroom and excel in their learning.

During my time in retail, I had to watch customers and look for 'buying signals’. I think this skill can be transferred into monitoring student's needs, especially when monitoring those who are struggling but are nervous about asking for help. As I have taught English online before I have the skills to build rapport with students even if we do not speak the same language. teaching children in China online, I used props, body language and engaging activities to keep students interest and get the most out of our lessons. During my time I also have some experience teaching face to face so know how to run a class and keep students engaged. I am also used to working with a wide range of stake holders and so know how to keep a balance of different groups wants and needs and make sure they get the most out of it. My experience in both education and the work place has taught me how to effectively and politely resolve problems if they are to arise.

I have completed a 120-hour TESOL online certification with the International Open Academy, and am currently waiting to complete the 20-hour classroom practicum of a 120-hour TEFL certification with The TEFL Org, which has unfortunately been postponed due to COVID-19. Taking two different courses has enabled me to gain a varied knowledge of methodologies, in addition to my exceptional native proficiency, which I can utilise to great success within your school.



I have also held tutoring and student mentoring roles during my time at university; I worked as a mathematics tutor at California State University Long Beach, helping younger students work through topics and concepts related to their courses, and a student mentor at the University of Hertfordshire, providing support and guidance to new students as they settled in to college life. These experiences have given me a solid foundation of knowledge to build upon and succeed in the classroom.



Having lived in the UK, US and Australia, and travelled to many more countries, I am very familiar with immersing myself in new cultures and surroundings, and being around people whose first language is not English.
