My name is Delfina and I’m applying from the United Kingdom for a position at one of your schools.
I have worked with children and young people in many capacities – as a tutor, as an assistant to a language teacher and as a representative of my university – helping them to choose the right place for their higher education.
While in high school, I worked as a private tutor for a kindergarten-aged child in English as a second language, numerical skill development and basic acquisition of Spanish as a third languages. Later, I also worked with young people (13-15) to develop Spanish language skills, providing administrative assistance to main teacher.
Alongside my course at university, I was a Cub Scout Leader, working with 5th grade children on skill building and social skills, as well as having some responsibility for event planning.

During my time working with young people, it became evident that children find me approachable when establishing rapport. Upon further working together, I have found students comfortable in making mistakes, due to my correcting by example and allowing for a comfortable environment for learning.
Friends and peers have described me as adaptable, both to new environments and to fast-changing situations. This makes me a strong candidate for working with young children, who can also be unpredictable.
All students in my care are there to grow and excel in English, in which we share a common goal. In my opinion, it is very hard to become a teacher if one does not care for their students. Working as a student ambassador for my university gave me access to people with dreams, as well as the ability to help them choose the right path for their fulfilment. A position at one of your schools would help me to bring a new generation of language speakers into the virtual, worldwide Anglosphere.
Apart from my dedication to sharing the language, I am also enthusiastic about sharing elements of culture and stories of experiences as they differ between our countries. I believe that culture is best when shared and that is a goal to which I am wholeheartedly committed.

My general people skills from previous customer-facing roles give me confidence in speaking in front of people.
I am a strong communicator with a passion for the international education industry.
Throughout my time at school, I developed a good work ethic, which was only strengthened while at university, allowing me to work with the Scout Association at the same time as studying. Taking on this role also required quick learning, as I had to assume joint responsibility for the young people from day one.
While I have social, cultural, and historical knowledge of the United Kingdom, having lived here for the majority of my life, as a child I did emigrate here with my family. Having overcome culture shock as a child, I have never had trouble with this when travelling in my adult life – I could quickly adapt to new conditions in the workplace. Not only that, but I also have experience in learning English as a foreign language, from zero to native-like fluency.
Perhaps most importantly, I am multilingual, and often find myself in the student’s position when studying Spanish and Korean. Here, I can observe the best practices of my teachers from a student’s point of view and use it to teach others in a way that is not overwhelming.

I have never formally taught but I have over a decade of experience in hospitality, leadership, and training. My passion is creating moments of positive impact for everyone I interact with. I love hospitality for the ability to serve our guests as well as developing my team members. I am bubbly, outgoing, and extremely calm under pressure. I am organized yet flexible, fun loving but always in control, passionate but not overly emotional.

I am a native English speaker, Business graduate and recently became TEFL certified. I have a background working in finance and have helped train new employees in several of my previous roles. Helping people improve has always been an amazing experience, and I feel now is the right time to move into English teaching. I believe that I can use my experience and enthusiastic personality to really make a difference to the lives of others.

I am a highly adaptable person and have spent a number of years studying, travelling and living in other countries, so will be able to quickly adapt to any new environment.

I've taught elementary and middle school students. I am a hardworking, dedicated individual with verve both inside and outside of the classroom.

As a teacher at Avalon LanGon, I presented myself as a role model. I taught various age groups the skills they need to succeed in learning English as a second language. Responsibilities included maintaining and collecting student data to give progress reports every semester as well as monthly comments to parents. Very eager to use this information for the betterment of the students.

I would consider myself as bright and cheerful. Tending to bring a joyful ambition to work every day. My time at Avalon Langcon I have worked on holiday preparations and activities without hesitation.

Through the year I have overcome many obstacles. Learned how to guide myself through different language techniques and quick-thinking to solve problems. Due to my qualifications, experience, as well as my thirst for progress, I would like to use my skills to help the organization in anyway.

Throughout my life I have thought of myself as a leader and a teacher. I have always been the vocal leader of my baseball teams I have played on and coached, as well as the jobs I have had. I am a very passionate, hard worker, with a great sense of humor and am always told I make people around me smile. Growing up I was taught to be respectful, loyal and determined. I have been more focused and dedicated on my journey to being an English teacher than any other aspect the past few years of my life. I have been awarded my 4-year degree from Evergreen State College and successfully completed my 120-hour TEFL course. I am currently enrolled in Online Korean classes on “Duolingo” and I am learning more and more everyday. Teaching English has been my dream job and I believe the steps I have taken in life have helped lead me to this point. While in the beginning of my college career I was placed in a dorm with three people that have never been to the United states, two from South Korea and one from Japan. While becoming friends, I often caught myself teaching them English and helping them with their grammar and pronunciation. I soon grew to be very happy and joyful teaching them and it gave me a great sense of pride seeing the progress they have made. They would always tell me I was a great teacher and the feeling of accomplishment has never left me. I want to make that feeling a forever thing and finally take the next step in teaching English in South Korea.

I am a hard working and caring individual, with an engaging and fun approach to teaching. I believe empathy and a caring nature are crucial skills for a teacher, as children will connect and engage more with learning if their teacher is caring. I am also keen to try new things, and explore different approaches to teaching, as I think that children learn better and engage more when each class is different and they don't become bored.

Another important strength to have is an understanding of other cultures and the ability to adapt to different cultures. I studied Modern Languages at university, where I not only studied the language of a country, but also the history and cultural differences of the country. This has broadened my horizons and allows me to have a deeper understanding of the cultural differences which are crucial for ESL teaching.

As part of my compulsory year abroad for my degree, I undertook an internship with a charity as an English Language volunteer, helping to teach English to underprivileged children in Peru. In this position, I was responsible for planning, creating, and delivering English language lessons to a group of 10-15 beginners between the ages of 3 and 9. It was here where I discovered my passion for teaching; I believe that education is the most powerful tool one can have, therefore having access to a good education is fundamental for all children to succeed. This role helped me develop my teamwork skills, whilst also allowing me to expand my communicative skills in a different environment.

I am currently working as an Au Pair, wherein I am delivering one-to-one teaching with a student of 9 years of age. One-to-one teaching requires a different approach compared to classroom teaching in a school environment, and has allowed me to develop a focused and patient way of teaching. I believe that this role has also helped develop my communication skills, as I have had to balance being a teacher with also being a friend, as it is not a school environment.

All in all, I believe myself to be a well rounded individual, with a wide skill set and experience which would make me an asset to your schools.

I am person who very polite and very calm. I also have a good work ethic. I love to work with people Although I have no experience in the ESL industry I am open to learning.

I have an honours degree in Languages and Intercultural Communication in which I specialised in Spanish and Chinese. I have been teaching young people and children for over 4 years now. All through university, I have been tutoring high school students Spanish in order to pass their yearly exams. Since graduating university, I have been teaching people of all ages. From children as young as five to adults in their fourties'. I do this by teaching English online. All the students that I teach have very different needs and different types of learning abilities, so I am constantly adapting to make sure they are gaining the knowledge they require. I have a very upbeat and friendly personality that I find work well with children as it means I can make learning feel fun and less of a chore.

I have worked as a tutor and baseball coach for Berkeley Unified Public Schools as well as a kids baseball coach in Tianjin, China.

Children bring me a lot of joy and I love helping kids succeed being in sports or academics. I am very outgoing, animated, charismatic and thoughtful.

I have extensive sales experience as well as experience working in television, fintech and the start-up world.

Experience

I previously taught English in Florence, Italy, to children between the ages of 5-13 years old. The school provided me with training, firstly by observing lessons and learning the syllabus, before putting all of the necessary information into practice and teaching classes myself. Coordinating classes myself enabled me to develop my own teaching style, while applying the skills I had learnt throughout my 150 hour TEFL course. My teaching experience reiterated the importance of communication and clarity when conveying new subject material to students. It is essential to make sure every student understands the information being taught and that they are digesting it. I view every lesson as a puzzle piece of English that, over time, forms a clear picture.

Personality

I consider myself a friendly person; I am always happy to converse with new people and make others feel comfortable in unfamiliar environments. My friends describe my demeanour as warm and welcoming, and this comes from genuine care for the people around me. I believe these attributes become strengths in my teaching persona as students find me approachable and can relax around me. I truly care about my students’ success, and so treat every student with importance, giving them the attention they require. Because of these character traits, I thrive best and am most satisfied in jobs where I am working to better other people’s lives, as I have experienced in my previous work teaching, as well as caring for the elderly.

Skills

My main skill is my creativity when it comes to problem-solving. As a teacher, there are many instances when you have to think on your feet and overcome an unexpected situation. For example, I was once unable to access my classroom, and so had to teach a lesson in the hallway without my lesson plan or the students’ workbooks’. Using my creative skills, I was able to devise a new lesson plan on the spot, and ensure the students still received a high-quality lesson, that was fun and interesting.
I also have good listening skills and am very patient with my students. This is essential for a teacher to be able to provide good lessons tailored to the student’s needs. I will never get annoyed with a student for not understanding, and instead of questioning the student’s ability, question my explanation and try to improve it.
