I am very excited for the opportunity to join your team as a passionate and enthusiastic summer teacher. I am a full-time history teacher at a college-preparatory school and have been admitted to an MA in Historical Research Methods program at the University of Sheffield. I plan to be in Seoul, South Korea from June-August.

I have extensive teaching and tutoring experience in a wide variety of subjects as well as with a diverse range of students. In particular, I have taught ESL, English literature, composition, US and world history, and algebra 1 to preschool to college aged students. This has included students studying for AP, SAT, and TOEFL tests. Rather than push rote memorization and drills, I have focused on helping my students grasp the conceptual knowledge behind the material. After mastering the material, I instruct my students how to clearly articulate the content through verbal and written mediums. As a history teacher, preschool teacher, and private tutor I have gained experience in curriculum development and have learned how to shape lessons to fit the specific needs of my students.

In 2015, I spent a year abroad in South Korea where I studied Korean Language at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. By studying at a Korean university and living with a Korean family I quickly fell in love with the culture. I am so excited for the opportunity to go back again for a summer.

Throughout college I consistently worked full time while maintaining a full course load and a perfect GPA. This experience has made me a self-starter with an incredible work ethic. I've been teaching in all kinds of classes, both physical and virtual classes, across a vast variety of subjects: IB, AP, SAT, TOEFL, essay writing, English competitions, Spanish, etc. I have experience teaching 1:1, smaller groups, and bigger groups.

I have a very passionate and outgoing style that captivate the student both in physical and virtual classrooms. I've also lived all over the world (US, Spain, Russia, Korea, Mexico, and Tanzania), which helps me connect with students from all background. I've spent the past 2 years leading a French accelerator in Mexico, so I'm fluid in Spanish too.

I currently hold 3 offers for MA this fall (starting end of Sep) from University of Cambridge, LSE, and Columbia University for Development Studies MA. I have a very flexible schedule until my departure and I'm looking to dedicate my summer to teaching, once again!

During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered weekly as a Math and English tutor for high school students. I really enjoyed the experience of connecting with students and helping them achieve the marks they wanted. The students I helped all had different backgrounds but they all had this common goal to attend university with scholarship. Their endeavor was inspiring and pushed me to work hard as well.
Prior to this, I volunteered many years as a Sunday school teacher for young children which made me a very patient person. I am very dedicated in everything I do, and this position would be no exception.

I am a critical thinker, reader, and writer– honed by my discipline in Philosophy and my global experience. I am a quick adapter, as I have lived in seven different countries since I left Korea at the age of three. I have been in the American curriculum for 15+ years, acquiring perfect fluency in both Korean and English. I have been attending Gordon College, a Christian liberal arts college, located in Boston and am projected to graduate magna cum laude. I served as a Korean Augmentation to The United States Army (KATUSA), and recently came back from a study abroad from Oxford University– where I studied Philosophical Theology, Post-Kantian Philosophy, British Literature, and conducted personal undergraduate research.

Not only am I skilled at what I do, but I am also driven by strong moral character. My global experience provides me with a deeper level of understanding and empathy for those who are different, and I have channeled these understandings to better the community I encompass. I am very familiar with ELL (English Language Learner) students, not only as a TEFL/TESOL certified teacher, but also as a global citizen who can connect and relate in a unique and meaningful way.

I have worked for over 20 years as an engineer and this enables me to teach math, physics, mechanics and science from a hands on perspective. My students comprehend the subject matter because I teach them from an expert yet accessible perspective, I teach from real life experience, so the students learn real application of knowledge, not just abstract notions.

I retrained in computer science to keep pace with this fast paced changing world, and yet within ICT there are many parallels with engineering because they both build systems, and I find the process of software development both structural and modular in design. It is these insights that my students will benefit from.

The better I understand how my students learn the easier it is for me to tailor my lessons to them, so they can fully immerse in their material and not waste valuable time. I'm Hyunseung Yang, a Korean citizen and a life-long New Yorker, currently living in Korea. I am a Stuyvesant High School graduate and received my Bachelor's degree at NYU Stern School of Business. I have finished my military obligation in Korea recently and am applying for a job teaching SAT in Korea.

I believe I am a great candidate for this job due to my educational background, as well as my extensive experience tutoring various subjects such as SAT, Japanese, TOEIC and ESL. I love British and American literature, with particular fondness for Shakespeare, Vladimir Nabokov and Paul Auster.

My biggest strength would be clear, effective communication and adaptability in terms of tailoring to individual students. From my 5+ years of teaching, I have experienced various students with different learning styles. Having the flexibility to satisfy a variety of students and their parents has resulted in improved grades and performance, and goals achieved. People would describe my personality as exuberant, affable, open minded and compassionate, all of which have aided me in thriving in the tutoring business.

I have been working as a teacher in Korea for the past 7 years. I spent my first 4 years as a public school native English teacher in Korea. I worked for DGEV for 2 years and taught classes for the Adult Program in business english, conversation, and teacher training. Currently, I am working at JM Academy in Jeju teaching core curriculum reading and writing classes for elementary age international school students and adults preparing to take the iBT TOEFL exam. My wide range of experience gives me a unique insight in to many different styles of teaching and ways to get the most out of my students.

As someone who has lived and worked in Korea for 7 years I have learned that flexibility and adaptability is an important quality for longevity in working here. I pride my self in being very flexible as well as highly motivated and goal oriented.

I am a personable teacher with a bevvy of experience teaching effective reading comprehension techniques and practices. Over the past two years, I have helped a number of students maximize their reading ability both through group and one on one tutoring sessions.

By employing evidence based coaching methods and through personalized feedback, I have helped innumerable students improve their TOEFL reading scores. When I started my job in Silicon Valley, I went from working part-time in my job to having 3 jobs. I worked as a math tutor and statistician for Stanford Athletics and San Francisco 49ers. I worked with middle and high school students in all subjects of math. I have a friendly, bright, and optimistic personality that helped me in my teaching job. For the statistician job, I sought out to the head coaches to obtain the job. Starting from high school, there was no job that allowed students to work on the football team besides an athlete. I reached out to the coaches and showed my passion and knowledge for the sport and my determination to help the team. I worked as a manager and statistician for high school, UC Davis, Stanford Athletics, and San Francisco 49ers. I am very determined and ambitious and like to think outside of the box.
I am fluent in English and Korean. I lived in Seoul, Korea for 14.5 years attending an American school. I understand the culture and language from both countries. I am seeking for a job to live in Seoul, Korea on my own this time around.

I have taught basically all my life. It started with tutoring and extended to teaching students in an organization. That is when I officially can say that I am a teacher. My personality is kind and very patient with students. Although I try to be funny with my students, when they give me a hard time, I always manage to get through the day without hitting or corporally punishing my students. You see my students are Black and Hispanic, two of the worst kinds of students, and I managed to teach them without touching them or striking them. I think that is a skill that shines and I should put here. Other skills include teaching Chemistry or Physics or even Math. My skills are very wide in terms of teaching. I also am good with any Microsoft products and have some knowledge with Java.
