I am an enthusiastic TEFL tutor looking for an opportunity to teach English in South Korea. I have 10 years experience in public service, and am now looking for a chance to try something new. I took my TEFL qualification last year and passed with flying colours. Since then I have been tutoring students at a prestigious private school in London, who need extra help with English as an Additional Language. This is both aimed at preparing them for exams (GCSE, IELTs) and helping them get the most out of their time in the UK. I have found it really rewarding to work with the students, from assessing the areas they need to to work on, to identifying the topics and areas that enthuse them and help them learn the lessons that they need.

I have found it best with the students to always remain calm and confident, and to listen to both their interests and their concerns. Sometimes the students have had stressful days at school, or have tests to prepare for, and then I make sure that we just focus on the key points of the lesson and I try not to place any additional pressure on them. Sometimes the students come prepared to tell me about something interesting or fun that happened to them in the last week, and then I try to incorporate that into the lesson so that they can feel engaged with what I need to teach.

I have visited South Korea several times since 2015 and love it! I have loved visiting places throughout Korea, meeting Koreans, trying new foods and shopping for amazing Korean skincare! I know several people from the UK who have taught in public and private schools in Korea and they have all said they had a fabulous experience and found it difficult to leave when their contracts came to an end. I would love the chance to experience this for myself and share my skills with some new students!

I am a dedicated individual with over 7 years experience in customer service. The skills I have picked up in this industry are highly transferrable and relate to many different aspects of teaching. I am excellent at communicating clearly and effectively, this is both with colleagues and customers. I am a great problem solver, which I believe is a fundamental quality for those teaching and working with children and young adults.

In 2011 I took part in a charity programme called CatZero and obtained a sailing qualification. Through this I learnt the importance of team work, time management and health and safety. I’m always looking for ways to push myself and achieve new qualifications.

I really enjoy exploring, whether it be around the UK or other destinations around the world. I like experiencing other cultures and believe that this can only enrich life. For example; in June I will be travelling to Thailand to volunteer as an assistant teacher for two weeks. I am extremely excited to live within their culture during my time there as well as visiting some of the more usual tourist destinations in out-of-school time.

Additionally in July I am travelling to America, spending time in Michigan sailing on scenic lakes and enjoying time with my family out there. I will also be visiting New York for a few days and I am looking forward the cosmopolitan atmosphere ad the fast-paced life of the city.

Essential Qualifications:

Education – A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience:
I graduated from McMaster University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy. In 2010, I also obtained my Bachelor's of Education from York University. I currently work in the education field but am looking to make the transition into a field more directly related to public service, as that is my passion. I am currently working on my Masters degree in Langauges and Literacies at the University of Toronto.

1) Experience providing service to the public in an environment dealing with clients
I have experience providing service to the public in an environment dealing with clients. For six years I have worked as an elementary school teacher. During this time, I have dealt with students, parents, teachers and administrators, ensuring that all of their needs are met collectively and individually. I had to ensure that my lessons corresponded to the Ontario curriculum but also engaged my students and that they fully comprehended what they needed to. For example, if I was teaching writing, I had to be sure that the level of writing corresponded to the suitable criteria for the grade level within the curriculum but that I was also teaching this in a manner catered to numerous learning needs within my classroom. Through constant communication with parents I had to make sure that they were satisfied with my services (ie: what their children were learning) as well as the role that I played in their childrens' lives. I had to be certain that this role was a positive one. Finally, through my work with my fellow teachers and administrators, I had to be certain that administrators were satisfied with the results the school as a whole was achieving and that my fellow teachers and I worked at a similar pace with all of our students and that we ensured cross-curricular connections in all subject areas.

2) Experience in providing general administrative support services in an office setting 
I have experience providing administrative support services in an office setting. For one year, I worked as an office assistant in an optician's office. During my time in this position, I took care of various administrative tasks in the office. First and foremost, I helped clients choose frames, processed their order and made sure it was properly catalogued within our files. Also, I regularly corresponded with insurance companies, ensuring that all of the necessary paperwork was in order for each individual claim. For example, when a client came in to find a new frame, I was their starting and ending point. I would be the one who would book the appointment with the optometrist, upon receiving the prescription I would help the client find a suitable frame and finally I would handle all of the necessary paperwork that was required from the insurance company. It was also my responsibility to telephone clients and remind them of frame pickups as well as appointments they may have had with the doctor. Finally, it was my responsibility to keep the stock up to date and order new items as need be. I would regularly keep track of all of the frames we had in the store, catalogue them and as they were sold I would place new orders for whatever may have been necessary.

I meet all essential education and experience criteria pertaining to this position. I have over six years experience providing public services in various work settings. As a great people person, I excel at providing guidance and support, orally and in writing. I have the ability to work autonomously but also enjoy working in a team setting. I find it essential to plan and prioritize my responsibilities in order to achieve maximum productivity within the expected deadline. I work well under pressure with changing priorities by processing a variety of requests within the expected service standard time lines.

I am a dependable, hard working person and take pride in my work. I respect the diversity of my surroundings, and demonstrate excellent judgement and tact. I am a motivated, diligent and well organized employee seeking advancement opportunities in a challenging and dynamic work environment.

I am a kind and caring person, I enjoy working with children especially younger children because I can get on their level and help them open up to me. I volunteered for 5 years in my daughter's classrooms. I worked with the kids in groups helping them with any art work or class work they were doing. I corrected class work and returned it to the teachers. I also worked one on one with a student that other parents had a hard time dealing with, I was able to get on his level and get him to do hid work. I also helped the students with their reading, they had to read allowed and if there were any issues I helped with pronouncing of words.

Throughout my college years, I had volunteer experience at JC Blair Hospital (in PA). The first volunteer site was the Dietary department, where I did typing, printing, photocopying, running all kinds of errands, supplying the entire office machine, and even fixing the mechanical problem with the machines. Not only I did office work but also coordination work such as greeting patients, talking to them about their daily life, walking them through the dietary menus, asking them about dietary issues, and helping dietitians to correspond to patients. I also volunteered in the Children Partial Program at the hospital. The Children Partial Program is where practitioners intervene children with behavioral issues. My responsibilities were to eat with the children in the cafeteria, to help the children to understand school materials (math and English), and to prevent the children from misbehaving. From these volunteer experiences, I learned that actively and genuinely interacting with individuals is very helpful for them to be mentally stable and behave appropriately, and I gained much knowledge of how to approach people and make them feel comfortable in multiple setting.

I had studied in the states for 8 years from high school to graduate school. Throughout this time, I often experienced caucasians' tendency to look down upon international students like me. In order to be friends with them, I had to put up with their jokes about my country and ethnicity, and this may have shaped me to react to any their negative name-calling with a positive and calm attitude toward them. As I became more used to these types of situations, I developed into a more flexible and easy-going person. Because of this new enlightened attitude, I was able to form trusting and lasting relationships with many American students, and I also made friends of many other Europeans and international students, regardless of their classes and majors. People may have thought that I am stupid and wondered why I put up with all the racism assaults to make friends, but in result I could develop myself to be flexible with any possible discriminated situation in the future.

I have three strengths in terms of teaching.
First one is creativity. I can constantly think of new and interesting ways to conceptualize ideas and planning new method to teach students effectively. For example, I research and make a possible speaking question which may appear in real TOEFL test. So i can challenge my students to think and borad their perspective more to be ready for most of the speaking prompt.
Second one is attention. I generally ask students why they choose this answer or why they speak certain contents, so i can have them interact with me and engage in class. If i see certain student having difficulty in catching up with lecture, I try to customize my course pace for the student.
Third one is humor. Since i believe that humor helps solidify student learning, I often use celebrity issue or joke for students to stay concentrated and form a lasting memory about lecture content.

With these strengths, I am confident that I can do my best to maximize any opportunity in any given situation at your company, and I strongly believe that I am capable of going through many obstacles ahead of me in terms of work or personal issues at your company.

I have had a strong interest in teaching for a number of years now and have been working hard to achieve that goal. I also wish to travel and see new parts of the world and I believe teaching abroad offers me the best of both worlds.

I have an easy going but professional personality and can fit in well, working efficiently as both part of a team and individually. I believe South Korea has a strong and rich heritage, which is something I wish to be a part of. I am a CELTA-trained teacher with over 6 months of full time teaching experience, which I undertook after graduating with a First Class degree in English Language and Linguistics. I taught a range of levels of English ability, in classes of mostly adults. I did however spend a month teaching classes of children and teenagers, so I have some experience with these age groups also. Around 50% of the lessons I taught followed a curriculum set by the school and the rest were planned and prepared by me. Therefore I am skilled in teaching with a textbook and also in devising and delivering lessons from scratch.

My personality helps me very much in the classroom. I am warm, friendly and patient, so my students feel comfortable and ready to learn very quickly. I always endeavor to understand each student's individual learning needs and be considerate of these in class. I am focused on my lesson plans, but relaxed enough to allow certain discussions or activities to extend beyond my plan if the students are becoming very engaged and are developing their English language skills in a productive way.

Since I learned English with fun when I look back on the past, I also made point of giving fun to my students when I teach them English. When I do my best with this principle, I feel happy and rewarded. I always strive to create a learning environment where students take the lead, instead of passively following lessons. By doing so, I could elicit active responses from students and carry out long lessons without making students getting bored. Also, I can manage time very well without having my student exhausted.

Building on such experiences, I am confident that I would be a great teacher for the students especially young students like teens. From my perspective, students should learn from super talented teachers since the teachers are those who are the guidelines for the young generations. Plus, great teacher improve students’ English skills that might improve students’ life in many ways. I wish I am one of those who can effect on students life positively.

I have been teaching English as a foreign or second language for 13 years, during which time I have lived and taught in the Russian Federation, Mexico, Italy, Germany, and my native Britain. I have taught a full range of levels from beginner to advanced, and a range of ages from 3 to 70, but I especially enjoy working with children and teenage learners. I am a very patient instructor who tries to identify a student's strength in an area within the subject first, and using that strength as a way to first build the student's confidence and then use that as a motivation to work on the weaknesses. In addition, regarding test preparation, it is best to identify the problems early on through a series of examinations and practice tests and making sure that the students work on the type of problems that they struggle with the most. I enjoy working with ambitious students and especially those that are passionate or interested in the subject, and I try to encourage a friendly and open dialogue to make sure that the students are comfortable bringing up certain problems or issues during the teaching process.

I have experience of working on Summer schools in the UK and Spain, which also involved boarding duties and the organisation of and participation in activities.
My qualifications include a Professional TEFL Certificate and a Master’s degree in International Studies. My professional experience includes over ten years as an English teacher in Zimbabwe, The UK, Japan, China and Spain.
As a teacher at Idiomas Seif in Madrid, I oversaw the instruction of over 200 students in a multi-lingual environment and personally trained many in the Cambridge exams and London Trinity certificates. This role demanded the regular creation of learning materials, the teaching of lessons, workshops and intensive courses, the preparation of progress reports and delivery of in-house testing. I helped oversee a period where the school achieved among the best student retention rates in the country and was commended for my performance due to very positive student feedback. I did teacher observations and enjoyed very much giving feedback and passing on my experience.
As an English Instructor in Zimbabwe, I gained a wealth of experience teaching young learners. This involved developing customised materials for each class in trying conditions. I’m currently teaching English to students aged 11-17 at a school in Chongqing, China. I am also the school football coach and I often participate in excursions and other extra-curricular activities.

I believe that my greatest asset for this job is my educational background in the Sciences. I had an opportunity to create my own curriculum while I was teaching English at an academy and incorporated topics like physics, chemistry, etc. into daily teachings. Having been enrolled in educational institutions until recently, I understand how to take exams efficiently and the methods of preparation. Another of my teaching strengths is that I am able to and enjoy creating PPT lectures with visual aids that help students stay focused.
In terms of personality, I strive to always exude positivity and energy, at least in the classroom. I am a multitasker and am always able to meet deadlines.
It is not noted in my resume and I have not marked the options above but I have credit for AP Computer Science and have taken multiple college statistics courses so I am able to teach those subjects if given time to review and prepare.
