Hannah: United Kingdom: Jan 01, 2020

Building on my array of experience from five years of university based on primary education and childhood studies, my highly developed skills as a former trainee teacher, my fluency in both English and Greek and my pure passion and enthusiasm for this particular profession, I aim to pursue a career as a teacher for students overseas.

Over the past seven years I have worked in various positions alongside young people and children, equipping me with an array of relational, enthusiastic and versatile skills. Furthering my experiences with various teacher training placements in multiple settings, and my studies surrounding young people as a whole, I have become the understanding, positive, approachable and curious individual I am today. I have also been able to build a substantial amount of knowledge and experience of the education sector. Moreover, given the opportunity to grow up on the island of Cyprus and live there for ten years until I returned to the UK for university, has vastly broadened my horizons, opened my mind and improved my language skills and respect for local culture.

With a bubbly personality, a friendly disposition and the ability to use diplomacy and nonjudgmental behaviour in all situations, I am an easily approachable person and thus work well with others as well as alone. The opportunity to help contribute to raising a student’s aspirations, knowledge and motivations is very exciting to me as not only does that encapture the career path I am aiming to go down, but I also would take great joy out of it on a personal level. The learning experience varies from person to person, from culture to culture, through listening, observation, encouragement and personal experience. I find this process absolutely fascinating. I pride myself on my interpersonal skills and capacity to work well under pressure. My experiences in various positions and settings, working with a plethora of people, my great enthusiasm to have a career helping young people, my flexibility, linguistic skills, and hard work ethic make me an ideal candidate for this position.

I am available to work as soon as possible, ensuring that all goes to plan with my visa application for this job.

Tyler: United States: Jun 07, 1994

Having taught English as a Second Language over the past year between Vietnamese schools and online adult education for Chinese students, I have not only grown comfortable with teaching ESL as a subject, but also am familiar with the different needs of students of all age ranges and the various skills specific to each.

My education consists of having graduated with high honors with a degree in English, creative writing, a skill-set that has made me excellent at critical thinking, rhetorical strategies and the precise theory and application of written English. I have also received high reviews from my current students for my excellent English pronunciation and accent and have been featured in voice-over work for various Vietnamese marketing campaigns.

Within the classroom I prefer a trusting atmosphere with students at the secondary level or above, looking to meet them halfway with their own interests to motivate them with relevant conversations and lessons in English that not only grab their attention but push them to think critically in a second language–a skill in itself. For younger students, constant engagement and patience is necessary to create an environment where they can be comfortable learning in order to gain the trust needed for quality instruction.

Nia: United Kingdom: Mar 02, 2020

I have had experience of English language teaching since 2007 when I began to study the Trinity TESOL programme at the University of Exeter as part of my undergraduate degree. I have subsequently taught both adults and children across the globe in Latin America, the UK and Vietnam. I love teaching English and helping students build their confidence and reach their language goals. I have a friendly, approachable and optimistic personality and use this to facilitate my English lessons and to build a positive rapport with students. I am hard-working, committed and creative and have managed to successfully create engaging English lessons for hundreds of students over the last 12 years. My most recent position was a full-time teaching job in Haiphong, Vietnam where I taught students aged 3 and upwards. I also ran a 3 month summer drama group for students lacking in confidence. I love encouraging students to come out of their shell and become more confident with their English. I have recently completed a Masters degree at the University of Bristol in Education (Teaching and Learning Pathway).

Hayley: United Kingdom: Jun 01, 2020

Something I have always wished to do is to help others. Being able to share knowledge with others and gain a lot in return, excites me. Seeing people being happy and knowing I was the reason for their happiness, is something I always dreamt of.

I have a strong desire for teaching. Being interested in a lot of foreign tv shows, films and music, I knew that languages would be the area I would like to teach in. I recently completed a TEFL 120 hour certificate and would love to put the knowledge I have gained from studying, into practice, gain valuable experience, and become who I have always wished to become.

I have work experiences of helping out in a nursery and a primary school. Those experiences opened my eyes to the world of teaching and gave me a desire to want to teach. Seeing the teachers at the primary school teaching, and seeing the children's joy and happiness about learning new things, made me happy and motivated. I have two nephews who are of primary school age. Asking them about what they have learned at school, and seeing them talk happily and positively about their teachers further adds to the passion and desire that I have to help others, specifically, through teaching.

I have some knowledge of the South Korean culture, by watching tv shows, listening to music, reading websites and forums for around 2 years and as such have been very interested in visiting the country. Being able to not only visit, but to work in South Korea is a once in a lifetime opportunity and to have that opportunity, excites me. I have also recently started learning Korean and would love the opportunity to see the language being used/gain knowledge first-hand.

What I would bring to teaching are my best qualities, kindness, patience, optimism and always having a smile on my face. Being a teacher is not easy, it is something I am prepared to work hard to become, and is something I wish to do for the rest of my life.

brea: United States: Mar 01, 2020

As an excellent communicator and presenter, I’m now seeking to apply my skills in a second career as a teacher of English. While working in corporate America the past 5 years, I’ve taught several classes, conducted countless presentations, and trained new hires one-on-one. I’ve worked voluntarily with youth the past 3 years, so I know a bit about how to keep kids interested and learning. In addition to the skills I learned while obtaining my Bachelor of Science, I also learned how to create meaningful lessons and activities while earning my TEFL. Certification.

While I am new to EFL instruction, I have much to offer you and your students, including:

• Extensive experience in preparing and delivering presentations
• An educated, neutral U.S. accent
• An excellent command of grammar (My mother is an English professor.)
• Superior writing skills
• Teaching experience, training experience, and international experience

In addition, I view teaching as a service, and my management experience at The Welfont Group has developed in me invaluable teaching skills. Running training sessions has improved my leadership abilities, while supervising a multicultural staff has helped me to communicate with all types of people. These skills, along with my creative approach to language education, make me a strong candidate for the position of ESL Instructor.

I’m certain I can make an excellent contribution to your teaching staff. I am attaching my resume and a recent picture. Copies of transcripts and references are available upon request. I look forward to hearing from you.

Rhiannon: United Kingdom: Jan 02, 2020

I I am Rhiannon Croker, a 23-year old English Literature graduate. I am currently studying a part-time distant MA in Humanitarian Action, whereby I liaise with group members across the world. I have a desire to learn, travel and immerse myself in different cultures. I feel as though this role is the perfect fit.

I have a 120-hour TEFL qualification, which I obtained in 2014 and since then, have taught in Romania and at an international summer school called SAMIAD in the UK. I am very experienced working directly with children, which I have gained through various work experience and volunteering. I have assisted with learning experiences when I volunteered at the Story Museum in Oxford. I helped run educational workshops for children between the ages of 4 and 10. My role was to escort the students around the exhibitions, show them how to interact with the exhibits and also run little focus groups where we wrote stories, rhymes and sang with musical instruments. Proceeding this, I helped run an arts and crafts workshop, whereby students would make informative posters about their favourite books using collages. I undertook a similar role when I volunteered at the House of Illustration in London and at the Salisbury Playhouse, whereby I designed table tops that are still present in the main foyer. Whilst at the Story Museum, I was a steward at Oxford Literary festival and also a steward on mornings dedicated to children with learning difficulties, so that they could immerse themselves in a quiet and more serene environment. I have had experience in the teaching environment, which I practiced whilst working in Romania as an English Teacher and at SAMIAD international summer school in Trent. In Romania, although the camp was comprised of mainly privileged children, the organisation sponsored some children from various orphanages. In my class I had an orphaned boy from Brasov, of whom needed a different care plan. It was my responsibility to implement this care plan and to see that it was performed, of which I managed successfully. At SAMIAD, I taught students from all over the world including China, Russia and the Ivory Coast. When I volunteered at the Salisbury Journal, I helped lead Stage 65, the internal Youth Group. This was a fun, supportive community group with young people aged 4-25. Every member was given a role within the plays. In 2017 South Wilts Mencap awarded the Salisbury Playhouse organisation the Betty Williams Award for going the extra mile for people with learning disabilities and making them feel included. Currently, I work part-time as a residential support worker with unaccompanied asylum seeking children and young care leavers, of whom are placed in semi-independent living. I encourage them to go to college, attend extra curricular and to acquire life skills, such as cooking, budgeting, travelling etc.

I am hardworking and love a challenge. Therefore, I hope that you consider me for this role.

Jodie: United Kingdom: Feb 01, 2020

Over the past few years through my own travels, I have met many people who are currently working as TEFL teachers all over the world. Hearing stories of their experiences in this role has excited me into this career change. I believe that although I have not had any experience of teaching in a formal manner, through my work history I have a lot of skills that I could bring to this role, which I will detail below. I am also excited for this change in direction as I like to remove myself from my comfort zone, not only in that I have not taught before but also living in a whole new country. I thrive off arriving in a new environment and being fully immersed in the culture, food, colours, language and rituals. 2 years ago, I completed my first solo trip when I backpacked Asia for 4 months. Although filled with trials and tribulations, I came out the other side smiling and craving more. I have, for a long time, wanted to experience living and working in a new country. This would give an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a new culture in a lot more depth.
Over the past few years I have run a youth club and previously ran a holiday play scheme. Being the lead worker, I have been responsible for creating the plan for each session. When creating these plans, I have had many factors to take into consideration such as: the individual abilities of each young person, the budget available for the session, the timing of the session, how many activities need to be planned to keep the young people from getting bored and any props or resources that need to be prepared beforehand. I would then take note of which activities work well and which do not work for future planning. I also consult the young people on what activities they enjoy / don’t enjoy. I use my planning as an opportunity to create a fun and engaging environment for these young people.
With regard to my youth club, we can get anywhere up to 40 young people each week. This has meant that we have had to develop skills in managing large groups of young people. This group can display challenging behaviour which as a staff team we have had to challenge. As part of my current TEFL course, I will also cover a module on teaching large classes. While working as a support worker in a college, I supported teenagers in classes of up to 30 students.
While working as a crisis / family intervention worker, I worked with families from other continents. This was an interesting contrast to the other families I worked with, as I would have to take on board their own cultures and experiences when developing my session plans. I also had the experience through working with these families, to work with people whose English was very limited. Although this was a challenge, I would adapt my working processes to ensure that they understood what I was discussing. One example of this can be seen with a family from Afghanistan, the mother had very limited English-speaking skills. I would therefore use a lot of demonstrations, visual props and explaining things in simple terms as tools to aid in understanding. I really enjoyed making a range of props and visual cues for all of the families that I worked with at this time, including a 3D bedtime reward chart for a visually impaired family, and a ‘busy bag’ full of spelling activities (made from print outs, clothing pegs, lolly pop sticks etc) for an autistic child who struggled to concentrate when doing extra learning at home.
I have previously worked as a support worker in a college. I supported a first-year childcare and first year plastering class, with class work, understanding the course material, challenging behaviour and preventing bullying. Through this role I supported the teacher is reading out materials, and ensuring the young people understood the task given through concept checking. I would also support the young people in reading the course material, providing examples to help with insight, support with practical tasks and writing skills. Whilst at college I also volunteered to be a reading mentor for year 8 students who were struggling with their reading skills. This involved encouraging the young people to read through materials, working on pronunciation and supporting at points in which they struggle.
Furthermore, I can work as a valued member of a team going beyond the needed expectations in order to complete the task to the best possible standard, I also enjoy contributing ideas. I work efficiently as an individual and can show the initiative to do so. I am very flexible on how I carry out a task at hand, taking a person-centred approach to ensure the client’s needs are met. I enjoy learning new things and would be enthusiastic about further training. In addition, I would take feedback on board to help self-improve, asking for guidance when unsure. I also strongly believe in equality and diversity with a distinct view that everyone should be treated with respect and not judged, giving each individual the same level of care and commitment. Additionally, I am very good at time-to-work planning, meeting all deadlines set in place. I like to keep myself organized and plan ahead.

I have been in the British Army for 5 years and in that time I have promoted to the rank of Corporal and have been on many military exercises in different countries. As a result of this I am very adaptable and can work under pressure. I work mainly in administration and finance so I am organised and analytical. The job requires me to take on a leadership role as I command and manage others in the team.

In my free time I enjoy music, playing the drums and practicing contemporary dance. I love to learn languages such as Korean and I enjoy exercising and trying new outdoor activities.
