I am writing to apply for your position opening for an English teacher. I believe that my experience in teaching ESL and English Education in the diverse contexts of South Korea, China, and the United uniquely qualify me for the position you are offering.

My work in EFL/ESL and secondary English education has afforded me opportunities to enhance the content knowledge and agency of my students within diverse cultural and linguistical settings. As an associate professor in English Education, I employ an interactive, student centered approach to teaching, invoking students’ experiences through a praxis of content, technology, field work, research, and reflexive inquiry. My undergraduate courses in Applied Linguistics include traditional theories of SLA and ESL pedagogy as well as theories from critical sociolinguistics and critical literacy. As a researcher and teacher in the Professional Development School program in English Education at Penn State University, I taught English methods classes, supervised students’ teaching, and helped high school students, pre-service teachers and English teachers pursue inquiries and multimedia pedagogical applications.

When I was 18 years old, I moved out of my parents house for the first time and left Canada for Ireland. I moved over with no family or friends and created a life for myself there, returning to complete m BA in it entirety in Ireland. I have been traveling on my own for 8 years and have no problem going to new places and meeting new people on my own. I have being working since the age of 14 and have worked in many different types of jobs, giving me ample experience in multiple different sectors.

I always believe each person has their own strengths and its best to cultivate those, which is why as a keen Business Graduate, I have gained knowledge and experience through my tenure at Southern sun for the past 9 years, however, my passion is to become an Elementary teacher, hence my PGCE admission through the University of Unisa. I am passionate to get to know students as individuals and dedicated in helping each student reach their full potential regardless of academic challenges and I will strive to foster strong relationships with all students as individuals.

I am intelligent, ambitious, and passionate about teaching. I graduated #1 in the College of Business at my very large university while working throughout school. I became a tutor in my final year of school, and it was my favorite job that I have ever held, and cemented for me that I wanted to teach. I became very good at understanding how different students learned, and how to craft a lesson to their enhance their understanding of difficult concepts. I have a very calm and thoughtful personality, which I believe helps me to understand students and how to best attack a concept or problem.

I am a purpose driven, motivated and patient young lady. I have 3 years tutoring experience as I tutored at the Durban University of Technology, while obtaining my degree. I am kind, patient, skilled and good at communicating.

I'm a rather adaptable person and being in new environments for work has always made new experiences exciting and enjoyable for me. Languages come to me naturally and throughout my years in school I learned to speak German outside of the classroom and in both primary schooling lessons and German lessons in college. I greatly aspire to experience the world and work overseas with people of different cultures to garner an experience greater than what I could imagine while making a difference. Interpersonal communication and team work skills have always come naturally to me as I have grown to become a well organized and natural leader in work environments and projects.

I am currently in my final year at the University of Exeter studying for an English BA. Through pursuing my degree, I have improved in my ability to communicate effectively and creatively in the English language. In writing essays and delivering presentations I have gained a greater understanding of the power of precise language. I have enjoyed the in-depth research processes of higher-level studies and feel confident expressing complex ideas and concepts in comprehensible language. I feel equipped with the necessary skills to embark upon a fulfilling teaching career.
Whilst studying for my degree, I have also completed a 120-hour TEFL qualification. I have learnt a range of skills, the foremost being the nuance and intricacies of the English language, which often go overlooked by native speakers. I found learning ‘how’ to teach fascinating and am looking forward to applying this in an educational setting. When my degree is completed, I am looking to develop these skills through employment at language schools in the UK for the summer period.
