I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Political Economy) from the University of Sydney (Australia), and a Graduate Diploma of Information Technology from Charles Sturt University (Australia) where I received the Executive Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. I’ve recently completed a TEFL 220 hour Masters Certification from the International TEFL and TESOL Training (ITTT) centre. This also included a 50-hour Teaching Business English course and a 50-hour Teaching English to Young Learners course.
I began my professional career as a Film Journalist, writing for Australia’s only print film magazine, FilmInk. I wrote film reviews and articles, and conducted interviews with prominent international filmmakers. One of the highlights of the job was getting the opportunity to attend the 2015 Berlin Film Festival as a member of the press. Following this, I worked for four-and-a-half years in television at Viacom (MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central) where I began as an Operational Project Manager, and later moved into managing information technology projects in the Sydney office. Part of my role here was to educate and train all new members of staff on a key software system and operational procedures.
Working in Information Technology bought me across the world to Belgium, where I completed a sixteen-month contract as an Analyst for a software company in Brussels. Among my responsibilities here, I was tasked with gathering software requirements and training users on new software functionality, both in-person and online. As previously mentioned, I am currently working in Finland as a Husky Safari guide. One of my roles here is to give customers an entertaining twenty-minute presentation on our operations and a general husky history.
To every role I take, I bring my greatest strength – my ability to build rapport with almost anyone! I find people really interesting and love to find out more about them, their interests and their motivations. This is really important when teaching English, as everyone has different learning styles, personalities and motivations. I’m passionate about the English language and believe my experience and education has equipped me with the necessary skills to provide an outstanding English education to your students in Korea.
