To Whom it May Concern,
My name is Regina Krawiec and I am a recent graduate of Vassar College. I am writing to apply for the position of SAT Teacher in the Summer Vacation Seasonal Temporary category, hoping to tutor Critical Reading/English. I am very enthusiastic about this position and after reading the description I believe I am the perfect candidate for the role.
My tutoring background extends far back into high school when I used to tutor classmates in Mathematics after school. I had taken a series of honors and AP math classes, so by the time I was a Junior I was well equipped to tutor those who were struggling in math. After high school, and having scored a five on the AP Calculus test, I went on to tutor classmates at Vassar beginning in my Freshman year. I distinctly remember a friend reading her Calculus textbook, which was written in a particularly obtuse way, and struggling to grasp the material. I was able to extract the information she needed and offer some clarity on the subject, so that she could understand what was being described. In these instances, I felt a sense of fulfilment that I was able to assist my fellow classmates and discovered that I had a keen ability to explain difficult material. I continued to tutor my classmates during my undergraduate years in subjects beyond Mathematics, including: Chemistry, English Language Arts, Italian, German, French and Classical Music.
Beyond my tutoring abilities, I believe I have an amiable personality that is easy to get along with. I know how to establish an atmosphere in which students feel motivated to do well, and encouraged to ask questions. I understand the importance of this stage in a young person’s life and am excited about the opportunity to lend a helping hand during this challenging period.
Along with my interest in education and tutoring, I also have a keen interest in South Korea. I would love the opportunity to learn more about the country’s rich cultural heritage and experience what South Korea has to offer.
With my tutoring experience and capabilities, and my interest in learning more about South Korea, I believe that I would be an excellent SAT teacher.
Thank you for considering my application.
Best Regards,
Regina Krawiec
