I have several years' worth of combined experience as an educator, working as a small class-size teacher and private tutor. My students have ranged in age from 5 to 65, and all have shown improvement by the end of their course work. I am a skilled public speaker with decades of performance/presentation experience.
I am a Bachelor of Theatre Arts, providing me an education in intra-personal communication and public presentation, creative problem solving, project management, and working independently as part of a team.
I am skilled as both an educator and as a learner, but I am also skilled in using Microsoft Office applications, using databases, conducting independent research, and the composition/editing/publishing (and of course presentation) of original material.
I am inquisitive, and I thrive on new experiences. I love to laugh, and generally have a sunny disposition.
In my free time, I enjoy playing board games with friends, sightseeing, and relaxing with my dog.
What draws me to education is difficult to describe: it has been such a ubiquitous facet of my life, I do not know there is any truly effable distillation of what drives me as an educator. I live for the thrill of discovery, so watching that same sense of wonder ignite in other people’s eyes is exhilarating. Education is the linchpin of an unfettered existence; the idea of gifting that freedom to others, and making the world a better place by molding future generations with compassion and logic, is what drives my yen for learning and educating.
