I love working with little children and have good knowledge of various teaching strategies,
resources and activities that can help these young minds grow and develop in exciting ways. I
have experience of working with young children as well as teaching actual lessons due to
four years of practical teaching. I am also well equipped with the knowledge I need for
preparing lesson plans that cater for a diverse range of learners. These include visual,
kinaesthetic and auditory learners. In my classroom, I often take on a learner-centred
approach whereby I allow learners to construct knowledge for themselves through hands-on
activities as I feel these make lessons more fun and memorable for learners. In the past 4
years, my teaching practical’s and studies in the field of education, has equipped me with the
right knowledge and skills that I need to carry myself professionally within a classroom
environment. I understand the roles and responsibilities of a professional teacher within the
classroom as I have spent a lot of time in different classroom environments (from under￾resourced schools to well resourced schools). Therefore, I am also able to adapt to different
classroom environments and can plan lessons around the context of the school I am in, all in
the best interest of the learners.

My experience as a sales consultant and book saleswoman has also allowed me to develop excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which I believe are essential in creating a secure and stimulating environment for students to express their ideas.
I hold a TEFL certificate and a Bachelor of Arts with Upper Second Class Honours from TEFL University, which have equipped me with the necessary skills to teach English effectively. I am confident that my passion for teaching, problem-solving skills, and caring personality make me an excellent fit for this position.

Previous employment experiences have taught me the importance of working well with others. This includes having clear communication and of being prepared to adapt to a given circumstance. I am currently employed by an online tutoring platform MyTutor, where I work as an English language and literature tutor to school students across the UK. I am working with a range of ages and abilities, from 11-18 years old, tutoring small groups as well as individual sessions. I love working as a tutor, as it enables me to share my love of a subject by helping others grow in confidence. Through this company I have encountered students who need additional supports for their learning, either due to having English as an additional language, or having Special Educational Needs. With these students I have found it is especially important to establish clear, mutual respect and to give frequent verbal encouragement. As a tutor, I am responsible for familiarising myself with a given child's exam specification and developing my own lesson plans and activities. Above all, I must always be prepared to adapt my lessons to support both stronger and weaker students, and children with a variety of learning styles. I also have previous experience working in retail, where I learned to always be friendly and approachable while delivering good customer service. I have proven myself to be an honest and trustworthy person when handling cash and managing till protocols.

In addition to this, while completing two degrees which hinged upon large amounts of independent study, I have become strongly self-motivated. I developed good time-management skills to ensure I always met deadlines. During my studies I volunteered with student-run peer mentoring programmes. This involved building a positive rapport with fellow students and participating in essay writing and exam technique workshops outside of class hours.

I was fortunate to be selected to represent my undergraduate university on an international exchange programme, studying in Haverford College, USA 2018-2019. This was an invaluable experience for broadening my horizons and allowing me to be more self-sufficient. I was able to adjust my learning style, appreciating that American classroom etiquettes were not the same as the UK's, and their accreditation system also differed. I made new friends for life, and learned just as much from hearing about the backgrounds and beliefs of others as I did inside the classroom.

I have recently completed a 168 hour Level 5 TEFL course, including a 10 hour observed classroom teaching practice course. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how language learning and teaching works, and am now eager to put my new skills into practice. I am flexible on hours, type of school and the age of students. I will be available to start in the coming months, preferably from August onward.

I am a native English-speaking graduate and a South African citizen. I have completed my degree in Social Science (Majoring in Psychology and Counselling) and my TEFL Course with The TEFL Academy and have received my TEFL certificate.
When it came to deciding what I wanted to study after high school, on my list was psychology and teaching, and I ended up choosing psychology. My reason for going into the mental health field, as cliche as it sounds, is that I wanted to make a positive difference in my family’s lives, my life, and, mainly and importantly, other people's lives. It is a choice I don't regret because it has taught me so much about mental health and created a self-awareness and self-reflection that I never thought possible. After completing my degree, I felt I needed a break, but I did not want to stop or change my main goal of making a difference, so I decided to look into teaching. Not long after I saw an online post about becoming a TEFL teacher, I was inspired and spent the rest of that day researching. The next day I applied to the TEFL Academy, the idea of becoming a TEFL Teacher has made me feel excited, motivated, and hopeful about making a difference.
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” These words have motivated me since starting this journey of becoming a teacher. Now I know my lack of a teaching background might set me apart from other candidates, but I am passionate and driven, and when I put my mind to something, I aim to achieve it successfully. I have a genuine desire to make a difference and help improve the lives of others by teaching English and assisting students to develop, understand and enhance their knowledge, helping them build a sense of confidence and enable growth within themselves. I am optimistic that the skills, theory, and knowledge I have learnt and developed in my TEFL course, such as how to teach English, create lessons plans, and classroom management, to name a few, as well as skills I have developed in high school such as my computer skill and language and my tutoring experience will be beneficial for this position. I also know that my psychology degree will be helpful as a lot of the work included group work, creating and presenting workshops, communication and interpersonal skills, time management skill, and collaborating skills which can assist me within the classroom, working with the learner and fellow teachers as well as to help me perform well under pressure.

I have experienced teaching small classes of students between the ages of 4 and 15 years in Maths and English at Explore Learning, a UK-based private tutoring centre. As part of my work, I have to tailor my teaching approach to classes of mixed abilities, and to cater to those with special educational needs. I feel that my time at Explore Learning has allowed me to realise my passion and enthusiasm for the profession, whilst developing my own teaching skills and methods.
