ESL Teachers

I am a very energetic person who loves to travel and learn new things. I have traveled to many countries outside of the US and lived in several cities within the US. I love to explore, go on hikes, and learn new things. I am currently learning to speak Korean, and I have a strong base for the language. I have volunteered with children of all ages in programs that help them in various ways, such as teaching/tutoring them in many subjects, organizing outings and events, and playing sports.As a former military personnel, I am active and healthy and would like to stay that way for many years. With all my life experiences and an eagerness to help others, I would be a great candidate for teaching. At the same time, I want to learn more about South Korea and its strong culture. I hope you will consider me for this position as well.

I believe I would make a fantastic English teacher due to my educational background in Creative Writing, Publishing, and my TEFL certification, as well as my professional experiences as a teacher with Elite Education, Oxford Learning, and Frontier College.

My undergraduate degree in Creative Writing & Publishing provided me with many classes that would assist me in teaching English, including editorial classes with a specific focus on English grammar and a Creative Writing pedagogy class where our assessments were based on how well we could teach lessons to our peers. I have also completed the TEFL from TEFL.org, which built-on my already-established skills and gave me a framework of what to expect when teaching abroad.

I have extensive teaching experience through a multitude of companies that focus on after-school, holiday, and summer classes. I am currently employed with Elite Education, where I teach a variety of group and individual lessons for children aged 10-17. In this position, I primarily teach English reading and writing skills with a focus on teaching grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and essay writing. Many of my students have newly immigrated to Canada, so I am familiar with teaching students who do not speak English as a first language.

During the summer of 2019, I worked as a Literary Camp Counsellor for Frontier College. This position required me, alongside a co-teacher, to develop a 6-week curriculum with an emphasis on teaching literacy skills in a fun, camp environment. This taught me how to create interactive, interesting lesson plans that convinced students that they wanted to return to camp every day. This position relocated me to live on an Indigenous reservation in northern Ontario, so I have experience leaving home and teaching in an unfamiliar place. As my students were all Indigenous, I also learned cultural sensitivity and how to incorporate cultures that are not my own into my lessons.

I want to teach in Korea because I am very interested in the culture and am excited at the prospect of living in a new country.

Though I do not have a lot of experience teaching, I have a lot of experience working around children. From in a cinema organising events on film release days like face painting for Frozen 2, to working in a toy shop and showing children how to use certain toys and helping them find their perfect toy.
Aside from that, as a teenager I used to go back to my primary school and assist the teachers in the weeks leading to the summer holidays. This would range from organising 1-1 reading sessions, to observing the class and helping any children who had questions.

Thanks to my work experience being mostly retail from a teenager, I feel very confident with my interpersonal communication skills. As I am also currently an accounting assistant, I feel that my strongest skills are my communication and organisational skills.

Most importantly however, I have always wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I have always been young at heart, and enjoy talking to children about what they love and helping them, and my main goal for my life is to use my skills and abilities to help children and young people.

In terms of experience, my background as a teaching assistant has equipped me with a deep understanding of educational dynamics, particularly in forming strong connections with students and assisting English language learners. Additionally, my leadership roles, including coordinating team-building activities at GoApe and overseeing playtimes at my current school, have further enriched my experience in fostering positive environments for growth and development.

Personality-wise, my empathetic and caring nature has been pivotal in building meaningful relationships with students and colleagues alike. This, coupled with my natural inclination towards leadership and collaboration, enables me to thrive in diverse settings and effectively connect with individuals from all walks of life.

In skills, I bring strong communication abilities, organizational prowess, and a dedication to fostering inclusivity and positive change. My experiences have honed my adaptability, teamwork skills, and capacity to drive impactful initiatives, making me a valuable asset in educational and community-driven endeavors.

I am in my second year of teaching and serve as both Head of Year and Rights Lead, showcasing my leadership qualities and organisation skills. I am passionate about creating inclusive learning environments, with a dedication to fostering academic success and personal growth in every child. I have a QTS and PGCE qualification, with a BA (Hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies and a TEFL level-5 certificate. I have experience teaching children ranging from 4 to 10 years old, and have experience supporting ESL learners in the classroom. I have a caring manner and a genuine passion for fostering positive learning experiences. Communication is one of my strong points, with an ability to building trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. I am driven by ambition to continuously enhance professional skills and contribute meaningfully to the educational community.

As an individual, I am intelligent, efficient, and strong willed with logical reasoning skills. I hold myself to very high standards, enjoy leadership and responsibility. I am a cooperative and highly practical individual, who embraces authority and creates order. I am known for being team-oriented, meticulous, exceptionally loyal, responsible and dependable. I include dedication, enthusiasm and passion in all my strategies.

I have worked in a variety of retail sectors, this has allowed me to develop my communication, listening, and time management skills. by working in this sector, i have developed my empathetic skills to ensure all customers feel seen and heard in all interactions.

I have an empathetic personality, which ensures that I'm fully adaptable to every interaction no matter the demographic. I also have experience with children with learning disabilities, due to my sibling, this allowed me to develop the skills need to ensure people feel comfortable, seen, and understand, even when at times there is a language barrier.

I am an experienced ESL homeroom teacher that has profound verbal and writing skills. I have been working in South Korea for a year and nine months. I am currently teaching kindergarten, elementary and middle school students. I have a passion for teaching as I am an independent thinker and I have excellent class management skills. I am confident in my teaching styles and method. I work well under pressure and I easily adapt to a work place. I have background knowledge of the Korean culture and it continues to interest me. I am an energetic person and I enjoy contributing to students' academic progress. My stregnths include having the ability to be attentive when given instructions and I am an overall patient person. My other stregnths also include being able to resolve conflict.
I believe that my skills, personality and stregnths will contribute to the growth of the school.

With diverse experiences spanning teamwork, communication, and leadership, I possess adaptable interpersonal skills crucial for an ESL teaching role. Coupled with a determined and organized approach, I excel in managing responsibilities and fostering relationships. Proficient in communication and IT, alongside effective time management, I am well-equipped to engage students and facilitate learning effectively as an ESL teacher.

During my time at Prior Park College as high school student, I successfully balanced academic responsibilities with school administration duties as Deputy Head of Clifford House. This role involved facilitating communication between students and staff, fostering strong relationships, and implementing new ideas. These experiences have honed my ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively, essential qualities for an ESL teaching role.

I am a recent graduate of The Open University, majoring in English Language and Literature and I am highly interested in obtaining a position in the field of teaching English as a second/foreign language through Gloii. I am positive I would be able to fulfil the duties required for the various positions available as I have experience in teaching both children and adults in online and classroom settings.

My interest in the role stems from my warm and welcoming personality as well as my desire to help people fulfil their language learning goals. My work with Cambly Inc. consisted of speaking with people from all over the world; specifically South Korea, Japan, and China where most of my regular student reside, teaching course materials provided by both myself and Cambly. The course materials covered a range of subjects, such as grammar, vocabulary, business English, casual conversations, travel phrases and more. My involvement with Cambly has further helped me to enunciate correctly to ensure understanding amongst my students, and it allowed me to expand my teaching skills.

In addition to teaching online, I have experience teaching in a physical classroom through Little English (Gibraltar) where I teach English as a foreign language primarily to children as well as general English for local students. Little English (Gibraltar) involved interaction with the students and playing educational games in order to make it more engaging. Furthermore, in Little English (Gibraltar) I was required to create my own lesson plans and provide feedback to parents when necessary. Additionally, I became familiar with a classroom setting and using physical materials, such as flash cards and worksheets.

Apart from the above I am a keen individual who is willing to learn the language and culture of South Korea. I am confident in my abilities and consider myself able to meet the job specifications as my education and experience match the required criteria.
