My biggest strength is my compassion. I always have a smile on my face and I am very approachable. I am also resilient. Even if I am tired or if I am just having a bad day, my face never shows it. I never let negativity affect my actions or my work. In other words, my kindness and compassion does not waiver. I have been a guitar teacher for many years and I have become proficient in building rapport with students. I have a knack for engaging young learners and making their learning experience fun. My experience working as a music teacher and as a summer camp counsellor has allowed me to understand what it takes to be a fun but effective communicator. I intend to carry these strengths with me into the English classroom. After completing my TEFL certification at ITTT, I am confident in my abilities to conduct a classroom of young learners. While I recognize I have much to learn in the realm of formal teaching, my experience as a music teacher has allowed me to excel at building rapport with children and engaging them in learning material.

I am passionate, determined, and adaptable. I believe that these qualities are what will make me a strong ESL teacher. I have worked in many different environments where I was tasked with training and teaching people from various walks of life, including varying ages, cultures, and English language levels. These teachings have included the knowledge of legal documents to those whose first language was not English such as clients from Pakistan and Türkiye. Additionally, I have given speeches to prisoners with mental health issues to ensure that they had the relevant information upon their release. I currently work as a clerk in a warehouse where English is not the first language of the majority of the staff. This has been a barrier to learn and overcome so that we can work professionally and efficiently whilst also learning about each other's cultures.

My skills include time management, organisation, written and verbal communication to a high standard. The time management can be seen by my current work where I undertake many tasks in one shift to ensure that the warehouse runs smoothly. It can additionally be seen between my professional life and my spare time where I ensure that I make time to relax whilst also writing my third novel.

I am eager to learn more about the world, and to learn from different cultures, languages, and people. This eagerness and passion for other ways of life stems from my own upbringing where my childhood was spent in the Caribbean surrounded by different people and cultures. I have enjoyed travel and the idea that there is so much left to learn about the world, ever since.

I have experience teaching mathematics to both primary and secondary students. I was a teaching assistant for two years as well as a private tutor. I have also been a volunteer football coach, working with children age 10/11. I have found all my experience to be extremely rewarding and beneficial for my leadership and organisational skills. I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated person and believe my experience has proven that i know how to motivate my students and help them succeed.

With over five years of teaching experience, including public schools in China (Chongqing) and holding a TEFL certification, I excel in creating dynamic, student-centered learning environments. My background in psychology enriches my teaching and leadership, allowing me to tailor my approach to individual needs effectively.

In addition to my educational expertise, I have extensive experience in the Corporate sector, showcasing exceptional organizational, communication and leadership skills.

Moreover, my background in nutrition and life coaching enables me to support holistic well-being, fostering both personal and professional growth. My personality is characterized by enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong commitment to excellence. I am a proactive problem-solver and a dedicated motivator, always seeking innovative ways to enhance learning and streamline operations.

Firstly, I have a strong academic background. In Secondary School I gained 5A’s at higher level, and was the recipient of several prizes, including for my abilities in the English subject. Afterwards, I continued my studies at Edinburgh University, undertaking a law degree, which I completed with a first class result. These achievements are a testament to my ability to work hard and balance heavy workloads, and demonstrate that I can rise to meet the challenges and rigours that teaching English as a foreign language presents.
My time at the University of Edinburgh was enriched by a year long exchange programme at Fundação Getulio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro. Participation in this exchange fostered a deep appreciation for cultural and intellectual exchange- qualities I am excited to share with students in Korea. Moreover, this experience was highly rewarding, and hence I am confident that teaching abroad, despite being in a new and unfamiliar environment, would be an opportunity where I would flourish.
Secondly, I believe that my experience in education and other fields equips me with the skills and knowledge that make me an ideal candidate for this position. My early experience as a Maths and English tutor at Kumon created a strong foundation for working in educational environments. At Kumon, I worked with children of various ages and was responsible for a number of tasks, including marking the children’s work and explaining concepts that they struggled with. My time at Kumon taught me the importance of building rapport with children to identify where they may have difficulties. It also showed me how to work effectively with others in structured educational environments to achieve the best outcomes.
As I continued on my own academic journey, I built on my existing skills and continued to work as an English tutor, in settings of varying formality. I helped students to improve their reading, writing, comprehension skills and study of English literature. My approach is to ensure education is engaging for my students, tailoring each lesson to fit individual learning styles and needs. I believe that patience and creativity in the learning process has a crucial impact on student success.
Beyond teaching environments, I have gained important skills and traits in my other pursuits. My work as a journalist for The Herald has sharpened my communicative skills. As a journalist, I have learned to convey complex ideas clearly and engagingly—skills that are directly transferable to teaching English as a foreign language. Additionally, my role as an intern at the watchdog for the Scottish Government, Environmental Standards Scotland serves to highlight my professionalism and organisation skills. The tasks I undertook in this position required attention to detail, timekeeping, and the ability to quickly process and relay information. These transferrable skills are crucial to being a dependable and responsible teacher and colleague.
Thirdly, my traits and motivation make me an ideal candidate for this position. I am a hardworking and diligent individual, who brings enthusiasm and passion to everything that I undertake. My experience working collaboratively with others has honed my ability to contribute effectively in team environments. With Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English Language Philology and Linguistics, along with extensive experience working with children in the UK, safety and holistic development have always been at the forefront of my approach. I have gained valuable experience working with children in several outstanding children’s centers.

Currently managing After School Programs at one of England's leading Outstanding (OFSTED) academy schools, I am deeply committed to creating an environment where students not only excel academically but also grow socially and emotionally.
