ESL Teachers

I am a British citizen from Jersey, Channel Islands, and I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Politics and International Relations.

I have gained valuable teaching experience through volunteer placements, including 20 hours of English instruction at a school in Vietnam. I am currently on a placement in Tanzania working with a local NGO, where I am teaching English and Woman’s Rights. By mid-February, I will have completed a total of 80 hours of English lessons from both placements, working with students of all ages and abilities. Through this experience, I have developed skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and confidence in managing a class.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have four years of office experience, working mostly in Civil Service roles; including a year working in the “Children, Young People, Education and Skills” department. There, I completed courses in child safeguarding and domestic abuse awareness.

Personality-wise, I am a fast learner who takes pride in my work. I bring enthusiasm and creativity into the classroom to motivate and engage students, and I am committed to expanding my teaching skills and pursuing a full-time teaching career.

My prior work in the Australian Sports Industry has allowed myself to develop strong leadership and general management skills as I have managed volunteers and interns with ease. I have been the point of contact for visiting sports teams and the sports team I work for, which has excelled my communication skills.
I approach my work with absolute passion and strive to make others around me smile while maintaining a great work ethic. I am understanding and always ensure communication is a two way street.

In relation to children, I have babysat my little for 4 years, as well a pair of twins over a 3 year period. This included helping them with different reading and writing homework, and giving general advice about school. I found this to be natural for me and I believe I really connected and was able to communicate well with them, making an impact on how they perceived their studies.

In regards to teaching/training; throughout the different employment roles I have had over the last 6 years, I consistently develop myself into a position whereby I am entrusted with training new staff on systems, processes and general company culture.
Throughout these roles, specifically as a sales manager, I have developed strong organisational and time management skills, ensuring all deadlines are met. These are qualities I know can be transferred into the role.

Additionally, in two boxing gyms, I made sure I was approachable to allow those less experienced than myself to come and ask for advice. I found myself training a group of women for a charity boxing event, and leading training sessions for a group of under-16 children.

In summary, I am an approachable, open-minded and passionate person, who gets satisfaction and sense of achievement out of developing others. Helping others stay motivated and exited about bettering themselves and learning is something I thoroughly enjoy.

I have two years of teaching experience in which I have taught English, various levels of mathematics and film studies. I have taught in local schools, specialised colleges and have experience with private tutoring. I am patient and empathetic; my own goal within a classroom is to create a safe, nuturing environment where each student's individual needs are met to aid their personal growth and the development of their knowledge. I have strengths in adaptability and behaviour management, with the ability to maintain high expectations to successfully manage classroom behaviour, sustaining a positive learning environment.

Experience: I have two years experience in the TEFL field. I have taught conversational English to European high-school students who came to Ireland on short stays, from one week to a month. We would have English classes in the morning and then cultural excursions in the afternoon. I managed classes of up to twenty pupils and supervised up to sixty on excursions.

Whilst in Vietnam I had the privilege of teaching students from kindergarten up to adult, in both private and state school settings. Part of the experience I gained there was in preparing students for the IELTS suite of exams. On a personal level, I thrived in Vietnam, having enjoyed the immersive experience that came with the different culture and way of life. I found my experience there to be thoroughly enriching, and one I hope to emulate in South Korea.

In Italy I had my first experience preparing students for Cambridge exams. This was an invaluable experience, and a place which I may someday wish to return to.

I am a humble, conscientious and quietly determined person. I am curious and love to learn, one of my favourite sayings is “every day's a school day.”

I have completed the 120 hour TEFL course.
I also have experience coordinating young learners, instructing them through activities, teaching new skills, and helping them achieve their goals, from my job as a social care worker.
In many other jobs I have trained in new recruits, and explained complex knowledge in a way the they can easily understand.
I am very approachable and good with kids and all ages.
I have a background and understanding in psychology.
I am a very good listener with strong observation skills.

I am described as a personable, enthusiastic and bubbly person who is passionate about learning and helping others. I have experience private tutoring for primary school students in English, Maths, Chinese and Japanese. I thrive to exceed expectations and attempts each task effectively and efficiently as I am a diligent, organised worker who is goal-orientated and people-focused.

As English is my first language, I would love the opportunity to be able to teach a class while improving the basic Korean that I know. I have never been to South Korea before but its rich culture and history fascinates me.

I want to develop both my professional and personal skills. Some skills I already have include language (English, Japanese, Chinese and basic Korean), customer service, hospitality and administration.

In terms of experience, I have a diverse professional background that has allowed me to develop adaptability and a strong work ethic. My roles have ranged from equities trading, where I conducted thorough market analysis and managed risk, to hands-on positions such as car detailing and laboring, which required attention to detail and discipline. Additionally, my experience coaching soccer for kids and teenagers has helped me build strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to engage and motivate young learners.

When it comes to my personality, I am highly ambitious and goal-oriented. I take pride in my meticulous attention to detail and my ability to stay organized and focused in any task I take on. I am also a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, which allow me to connect well with others, whether I’m working independently or as part of a team.

Regarding my skills, I am technically proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, which help me stay efficient and organized in my work. I excel in both independent and team-based environments, and I am committed to delivering high-quality results in everything I do.
