ESL Teachers

While I don't have any prior professional experience in teaching as of yet, I have achieved and completed my 120-Hour Premier TEFL Course certification via The TEFL Org. I am a highly passionate and dedicated lifelong learner who is always looking to spread that enthusiasm for learning onto others. It makes my soul ignite when I help people gain more confidence in their language abilities, as I know the struggles of tackling a new language firsthand. Through my program with The TEFL Org I have a strong foundational understanding of how to structure an effective lesson plan and possess the interpersonal skills necessary in order to efficiently run an engaging class session. I also have a flourishing knowledge of the Korean language as I've been self-teaching myself for the past year and have taken an online abroad course (Basic Korean I) through Seoul Women's University.

My experience is mostly academic as a recent graduate. However, I do believe it does provide me with a great level of perspective. I have strong performance in Linguistics (my major). Demonstrating my ability to grasp complex concepts and apply them effectively. Courses such as Cross Cultural Communications honed my analytical and critical thinking skills especially in relations to being respectful and appreciative of other cultures and people.
In my brief professionally experience as a waitress required me to interact with many people from different walks of life. This strengthened patience, confidence, listening and negotiation. As a co-worker I strengthened communication, team work, leadership, adaptability and time management.

My personality can be summarized into 5 words: Optimistic, curious, adaptable, proactive and resilient.

My skill sets is versatile. On the technical side I am proficient with key skills in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe package and Canva. My soft skills is my interpersonal and organizational skills, communication and collaborative/leadership.

I am a twenty-four-year-old, degree-educated, qualified TEFL teacher. I love traveling and experiencing new people. I’m passionate about using my creativity to produce stimulating lessons and discussions that inspire and engage a class. I work hard and diligently in a team. I love effectively communicating with any age group at all levels. I have experience as an Elementary English and Math tutor, Middle School AVID tutor, and substitute teacher for all grade levels.

With a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo and certifications in TEFL and Asana Workflow Management, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and educational passion. My experience in STEM mentorship, leadership development, and cross-cultural communication equips me to foster an engaging, inclusive learning environment. As the founder of the Upward Bound Initiative and Toledo Early College Initiative, I designed and delivered STEM-focused programs for high school and middle school students. I guided them through the engineering
design process, helping develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, my work with the KLAR Leadership Academy refined my ability to mentor diverse learners and organize community-driven projects.

I am an affable, confident and energetic individual with high levels of empathy and plenty of patience. I have a calm and cool demeanour and feel comfortable around people of various ages, and enjoy being confronted with new ideas and challenges. I have experience in one-to-one tuition of mathematics to teenagers, and I have become used to speaking in front of audiences at university and in running tennis sessions there. I have also sporadically coached tennis, which was generally with young learners. In any kind of teaching, I strive to be a good role model for my student(s), and present myself accordingly. I hold a 120-hour TEFL certificate from The TEFL Org, and have also completed a separate 20-hour weekend TEFL course with the same organisation.

I taught ages 5 and 6 at Mount Pisgah in Jeongja for a year and a half. I loved teaching the younger ones and always wanted to make class a fun yet insightful experience. I believe making class a safe spaces and mistakes made are not something to feel bad about but opportunities to learn and grow. I had an array of personalities in my class and I can see how each student has individual needs, and I do my best to make sure each and every student feels praised and is given attention to during class. I also had some after school elementary classes which was fun to get into some deeper themes and ideas but overall I love working with the younger ages.

As a certified ESL Teacher holding a 180-hour Advanced TEFL Certification and additional qualifications in Teaching Business English and Adult Learning Principles, I have successfully trained diverse learners, ranging from young students to high-level corporate executives. My experience as President and Corporate Communication Trainer at GSMC Podcast Network—a global media organization—has allowed me to excel in designing and delivering customized, interactive lessons focused on executive communication, negotiation, persuasive writing, and public speaking.

In my role as a freelance ESL instructor, I have created engaging, multimedia-rich lessons tailored to the specific needs of learners of all ages and proficiency levels. My approach is consistently student-centered, culturally sensitive, and highly adaptable to varied classroom environments, both online and in person.

Teaching is something I feel comes naturally to me. I grew up with a younger brother, and I had to routinely teach everything from life skills like how to tie a shoelace, to how to deal with bullies. I learned through this how to strike a balance between helping him, and letting him help himself. Sometimes, the best approach was for a gentle push in the right direction, letting him figure it out by himself, and othertimes he needed clear and blunt guidance. I feel this has prepared me for being a Teacher in my adolescence, I know when to guide, and I know when to step back and let the student learn independantly. Furthermore, personality-wise, I am a very level-headed person, slow to anger and quick to rationalise in situations that require a calm and collected approach. I feel this is a great strength when dealing with students from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and personalities.

Skill-wise, I come from a background in IT where I used to work as a specialist fixing computers for people daily. I therefore not only know how to use technology effectively, but also how to teach people in a way that isn't patronising. I feel my experience transfers well to this new teaching role, providing a strong foundation to build my teaching career upon.
