ESL Teachers

I am a kind and approachable person who always acts with compassion and integrity. Within my friendship group, I am often the person who people will come to first, whether they need help with work or advice with a problem. I am passionate about the English language and eager to pass on my knowledge to the next generation.
My first teaching experience came from teaching an Aviation Studies course to 13-18 year old cadets whilst I was a Sergeant in the Air Training Corp. It was this that first interested me in teaching, and my Commanding Officer praised my progression during my time teaching there. Also, whilst volunteering at a museum, my roles included teaching members of the public about Ancient Egypt, and helping to manage classes of visiting school children. From these experiences I have accrued relevant practical skills such as classroom management and how to interact with young children.
Ultimately, my main strength lies in my attitude and work ethic. I commit fully to any task and never leave a job half-done. I am organised and dedicated and believe that I will make a great addition to any school.

I am fully committed to the things I care about. I believe this is essential when teaching, as you have a responsibility to yourself and your students. I also like to have a clear thought process when dealing with work and I have a warm and friendly personality which can allow students to feel comfortable and enhance their learning experience.

I have lived abroad in the past, which has allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures and languages, and has helped develop my communication and organisational skills.

Recently, I have been giving informal English lessons to a friend, which has allowed me to understand the ways in which English can be difficult to understand and how to teach effectively.
I have completed a 120 hour TEFL course, which included modules such as grammar and language, teaching young learners etc.

I believe that I am well prepared for this opportunity, because I have been looking for chance to teach in South Korea.
I have no problem living or teaching either in a village or in a city.

I am a recent graduate (MA Professional Writing – Merit) looking to start a career as a language teacher in Korea. I currently hold a BA in Digital Media (2.1) an English-related masters degree and am also enrolled on a 120-hour TEFL course – which I intend to have completed by next month. I am someone who connects well with others through interaction, conversation and listening. My natural ability is to lead and motivate others to see their potential and worth. I have over five years experience in the world of international relations, where I worked on three different continents and countries. Through my experiences, education and travels I have always wanted to work with youth and people; while developing human capacity, which I have done throughout my career. I have developed experience in cross cultural competency in dealing with diverse groups of people, ranging from different backgrounds.

My personality is outgoing, approachable and compassionate toward the needs of others. I am naturally energetic and love children and youth. In a role of an educator, I can bring this same passion to the classroom, while teaching students.

I have experience with teaching from being a first-year Geography practical demonstrator at Rhodes University. This job entailed facilitating first-year Geography practical sessions and helping students in these session and then marking their work. I also have experience in teaching from volunteer work I did with the Khanya Maths and Science Club co-ordinated through Rhodes University and with NOAH (Nurturing Orphans of AIDS for Humanity) through Roedean School. For both of these schools, I tutored Grade 9 students in mathematics. I have experience with teaching elementary school children from work I did at Little Johnnies Aftercare, where I helped students with their homework (reading practise, preparing for spelling tests, maths exercises) and helped the staff with play activities.

I am an intelligent, responsible and industrious person. I work well independently and with others and I am friendly and approachable. From my studies at university, I have acquired skills in presenting, research and analysis. I have a lot of experience with public speaking and I am able to speak clearly and with confidence.

Punctuality and creativity are central to my character, as is a hardworking and positive attitude. The ability to adapt to different circumstances, excellent people skills, and an aptitude for coping under pressure allow me to succeed in goals I set in life, both professional and personal.

Volunteering as a student representative for the Open University Student Association on the Languages & Applied Linguistics programme committee has given me insight into problems students face when learning languages. Through volunteering and working at the Open University I have gained experience in presenting information in a professional context, in verbal and written form, and feel comfortable transferring these skills to a classroom setting.
I have used my mathematical abilities in teaching contexts, both with children and adults. During my A Levels I volunteered in a primary school, taking groups of six children of 9-10 years of age through extra maths lessons. In my current volunteer role at Sheffield’s Conversation Club I offer help to non-native English speakers who are working towards mathematics qualifications, working on understanding what questions mean when written in English.
During the classroom course component of my TEFL qualification I was able to practice many skills including eliciting information, focussing on student talking time, concept checking and activity planning. I feel these skills will enable me to create a safe and fun learning environment for students.

EXPERIENCE
I spent 2 years at a Private school (Cowan House Prep School) as an intern and sports coach. I worked with children between the ages of 8 – 13 years. After completing my 2 years as intern, I started studying my Post Graduate Certificate in Education through UNISA. I began my first teaching job in January 2016 at Riverrun Educational Facility, whilst studying through UNISA part time. At the end of 2018 I will complete 3 years of teaching at this facility. I have been exposed to working with children on the Autistic spectrum as well as learners who struggled in the mainstream education environment.
