ESL Teachers

During my gap year, i lived abroad and volunteered as a teaching assistant. Since then, i've been working with or around children in a school environment for 5+ years. These experiences have giving me a different perspective on teaching. It has allowed me to be open minded. It taught me to be flexible and to easily adapt to things which i may not have been familiar with. I love working with children because they are such fun to be around and no two days are the same; and i equally love travelling and immersing myself in a new culture.

I have a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and I just finished my 120-hour TESOL course. I am eager to start teaching and share my English knowledge to other people. I am not a native speaker, but here in the Philippines, English is one of our two major languages. Also, I am studying online to get a certificate in teaching Business English and Teaching Young Learners.

As for my experience, I have informally tutored Korean children one to one to introduce to them the English language and some Korean adults to help them improve their English skills.

I am fond of Koreans and I have some basic background information about Korea. I also know how to read and write Hangeul and I can speak few basic conversational Korean.

I am passionate about work and willing to relocate. I can work independently but also work so well with a team. Most importantly, I have the will to learn. I am a fast learner and can easily grasp things. I hope you consider my application.

I know this is a long shot because some countries prefer Native English speakers but I know I can be a great English teacher to Koreans.

As a Mass Communication graduate, I also have some knowledge with basic marketing, public relations, photography, videography, basic photo and video editing, hosting, news and content writing.

I am a published writer. I also shoot photographs as a hobby. I also am an artist, drawing mostly. Love athletics, particularly wrestling or grappling sports. As for work experience, I have worked with youth in the US as well as in Korea. Ages between 10 and older. My goal is to teach while creating an stress free environment.

I have over 12 years of professional work experience, the last 3 years have been in teaching. I have excellent communication, efficiency and the ability to adapt to any environment. I am very positive, hard working & love to develop my professional skills.

I have taught a health class to over 200 students over 4 months in 4 different schools. Students were aged between 10-14 years old. I also taught and ESL adult summer course for 5 weeks. I have experience working with children and enjoy being around children of all ages (babies to teens). In one of my previous positions I taught a variety of subjects to teens that were developmentally disabled – so, they were at the intellectual level of elementary school students. We had activities such as dancing, singing, art, music, etc.
I am an easy-going person that can get along with anybody. I am a positive-thinker and optimistic. I have lived abroad before where I was the only English-speaker for about 20 miles, so I understand how it is to not be understood or be able to communicate effectively. I've learned a different language and understand what that's like. I bring those perspectives to this position. I also respect other cultures and values and don't pass judgement for any differences from my culture and values.

I am a self-motivated person with a positive outlook and very tenacious in everything I do. I can demonstrate this by being committed to my leisure interests having taken ballet lessons for 12 years and attending Stagecoach, a performing arts school, for 7 years. Both of these helped to increase my confidence by performing in front of people. During my second year of university I undertook a five-week placement at Marlwood School where I was a teaching assistant in the drama department. I assisted with both lessons and after school activities such as rehearsals for the school play. I also enjoy travelling and learning about various cultures and in August 2014 I travelled to Australia on my own to visit family living there, which gave me a sense of independence.

I also have a keen interest in learning languages and find I am able to pick them up very quickly. In high school, I studied French and Afrikaans. I also lived in Greece for a short period of time when I was younger and can still speak it at a basic level. I feel that since I have learnt different languages I am able to teach them in a enjoyable and stimulating way.

I have been involved in different forms of teaching for the majority of my life. I grew up teaching other kids how to play basketball or sing. Then in middle school and high school I was the Vice President of my grade. I would spend time teaching others how to adapt to new and different situations. Currently, I am studying journalism and I consider that to be a form of teaching as well. Through journalism, I got spend time with someone, I learn what they do, then I break it down to simple, understandable forms and teach it to my viewers.

I a person who is easy to engage with. I love listening to people and in turn providing feedback. Many people I meet tell me I am very easy to be around. I'm always open to change, adaptation, and problem solving. One of my main personality strengths is the desire to develop other people. When I recognize a need in someone else's life I have an desire to provide help in providing the need. This would make me a great teacher because it is in my nature to buildup others.

Administration, logistics, organization and orderliness are among my top skills. Through my education I have become proficient in Microsoft programs as well as Adobe Creative Cloud programs. I am also skilled in public speaking, planning, and special events.
