I am a very animated person, which means I use bodily expressions to emphasize a concept and that is why I was a successful teacher with pupils at a young age. In other words I dramatize words and sentences and use music to emphasize what I am teaching. I haven't mentioned this on my resume, but I was a singer for a little while with a band in Washington D.C.

I have written two books so far. I haven't published my first one, although I have been accepted by one publisher. I wasn't proud of my work, so I decided to embark on a new venture by writing another book that I am planning on publishing once I have completely edited my work. Essentially, I am a writer which will add value to students as I can use that skill to help them develop stories.

I am also very diplomatic, honest, and friendly. I have been offered a position as a client relations representative when I was a journalist because of how customers really liked me, so I would end this by saying I excel in customer service, which translates to a skill I have whereby I can manage relationships and mediate with mothers and staff members.

I am a reliable, friendly individual who is outgoing and hard working with good time management, communication and organisational skills. During my final year of high school, I trained through CCEA (Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment) to become a Reading Partner to mentor younger pupils (aged 11-12) in their reading & English skills. In my final year of university, I was a StAR (Student Academic Representative) for the English department.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing and listening to music. I collect vinyl records and early editions of novels. I have a keen interest in history, psychology and mythology as well as learning to understand other languages and cultures by reading books in another language and listening to foreign music. I also enjoy travelling, going for walks with my dogs, spin classes and dance cardio workouts to keep healthy and spending time outdoors when I am not working and studying.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with Drama and Theatre Studies in July 2018 and my TEFL course in December 2018.

I am an ESL teacher with one year of teaching experience at a hagwon in Busan. I am very personable and get along with everyone very well. I am also a very quick learner, and have always excelled in both education and work environments. I am organized and punctual, and will always act in a professional and efficient manner when it comes to my job.

At my previous hagwon, I had many responsibilities including teaching, lesson planning, and creating and grading tests. I worked with many other teachers to provide an ideal learning experience for the many students at our school.

I have a passion for teaching English and have taught English in my native South Africa for more than three years. I really find that teaching language not only bonds people together by creating a bridge of communication between them, but is also a necessity if wishing to express yourself clearly and share your ideas and philosophies with those around you. I have been involved in the field of teaching English in Asian countries for more than five years.

As an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, I have been teaching in the People’s Republic of China for over four years, teaching English language at training centers in Kunshan, Yangzhou and Jiangdu in Jiangsu province.
Before coming to China, I stayed in Thailand for over a year, where I earned the TESOL/TEFL teaching qualification and taught English language at various schools. In July 2013, I travelled to Thailand to enroll in a formal in-class TESOL/TEFL training course there.

I am from South Africa, holding university degrees in the building disciplines (B Architecture and B Building Arts). Further, I have completed various short course certificated university or college level studies relating to business and management, project management, technical subjects and soft skills courses. I also engaged art study and practice classes at a technical college and with private art teachers.

Prior to entering the field of teaching, I worked in both the public and private sectors as an architect and project manager in South Africa.

In 2006, I joined a major British multinational design consultancy in Qatar, Middle East, as an architect. Two years later I returned to South Africa and worked in the field of real estate as a property consultant for two different property companies.

Globally, I have travelled or worked in nine countries, including trekking with friends in the magnificent Annapurna mountain range of Nepal.

My name is Beth Jones and I have graduated from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, with an Honours degree in Arts (First Class Honours).
