I am highly educated, and very well-read, with a superb command of the English language and a passion for correct grammar and punctuation. I have recently completed a 120 Hour TEFL course online, and I am eager to pursue TEFL as a new career.
I have resided in the UK for 34 years, and have a BA(Hons) First Class degree from the University of Manchester, and a MSc degree from the University of Huddersfield.
I have a clean Police Certificate from the UK police.
I am currently employed as a web/graphic designer at a leading online retailer specialising in electronic and white goods. As part of the role I write copy for web pages and I also design and create email campaigns.
In addition, I have had previous experience of teaching. I worked on a fixed-term contract basis for Bury College, Lancashire, as a Creative Web Professional Tutor. In this role I trained owners of small businesses in the use of web and graphic design software. I created and produced a range of training materials, and engaged in marketing and promotional activities for the courses.

My name is Tanya Burks, I am 45 years old. I graduated from University of North Texas with a Masters in Library Science in May 2015. I received a TESOL certificate in February 2019. My daughter, Suzanne, two cats and myself reside in Killeen, Texas. I served nine years in the US Army. In Germany, I met my wonderful husband, who loved life and encouraged me to follow my dreams. My dreams were to be a teacher and/or a librarian. My few passions in life are working, taking care of my family, reading books and fixing up my home. Through the military I have achieved my dream of becoming a librarian.
The next phrase in life has brought a new challenge such as finding employment and a secure retirement plan. I am hoping with a graduate degree in multilingual education (TESOL) my employability will increase, therefore allowing another childhood goal of teaching to manifest. Currently I am working as an educational aide at South Belton Middle School in the Academic Assistance Center in addition to the enrollment in the TESOL certificate program. My goals are to learn, teach, help others, and travel the world which are a continual driving force for me to achieve personal happiness and satisfaction.

Experience:

I have not really had an awful lot of experience, really. When I was doing a college course many years back I had to volunteer at a local school as part of the college course. I was a teaching assistant for the ages 4-6 years old. As the course was in Sports, at the time, I gave my first swimming lesson. However, the volunteer placement was for a few weeks only, so I am looking for some longer key experience with younger children.

Personality:

I think I am firm but fair. I do, however, like to bring something fun to the table and always like to create something interesting to do. I class myself as the soldier type, where I may take a hit one day but I always bounce back ready to fight on. I like to achieve things and have my own bucket list where I set out goals in life and over a period of time always achieve the set targets. I like helping others where they may not understand or find difficulties in learning because I feel everyone needs a chance to know and understand how things work. I like researching and learning and passing my knowledge on to others.

I am a British graduate who is very keen to begin a career in teaching. I have travelled extensively in Asia and I love learning about other cultures and languages. I don't have any previous English teaching experience, but I have worked for three years as a support worker for adults with learning difficulties, which taught me excellent people and communication skills. I studied English up until A-level and I think that with the right training I could be an excellent English teacher.
