I have previously studied in Seoul at Sungkyunkwan University for two semesters from 2017-2018. After visiting South Korea as a tourist in 2015, I fell in love with the country, its culture, its history, food and lifestyle. During my time at University of Leicester, I have mainly focused on Asian history modules and have gone on to write my dissertation on the Korean War. When I went on to study in Korea, I developed a lot of personal friendships and relationships with Korean people and their kindness and enthusiasm towards welcoming me has confirmed that I would love to live there in long-term and give something back. The best way to do this is in the form of teaching. Koreans have an incredible passion and respect for their education and they are always striving to improve their English speaking skills, often asking me to help assist them in their learning, or things they were struggling with. I am a helpful, kind person by nature and was always happy to oblige. Teaching English would be a really rewarding career, knowing that you are able to assist somebody's development and help them to connect with people across the world. As a native speaker, I am in the privileged position of being able to develop peoples' skills in learning the global language.

I am an outgoing person and believe I would be an excellent teacher when I gain experience in the classroom. I have the energy and enthusiasm to begin teacher career and always strive to develop myself as much as possible.

I am currently teaching at a Public Middle School in Korea. This year I have learned how to develop effective lesson plans. Before this year I also have experience in teaching in the United states. I worked at a Pre-k and as an English tutor for foreign college students.

I'm very polite and easy going. In the past I worked at Disney World which has one well known rule for employees, they must always smile! This was not difficult for me in general I am a happy person.

English Teacher
Gloii Korea ESL
South Korea

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in regards to the English Teaching job position with Gloii Korea ESL.

I am highly interested in this job opportunity and believe I will be an excellent candidate for this position due to my current and past work experiences including my international experiences acquired since my high school years overseas. My global perspective will also significantly factor in to the unique viewpoints I will provide as an English Teacher. When I attended Taejon Christian International School in South Korea, I had a rare opportunity to experience different cultures from my peers and gained a global perspective by traveling to countries such as Cambodia, Thailand and China. I also lived in Argentina and Mexico and gained fluency in the Spanish language which allowed me to gain a greater international perspective. By living and experiencing life in various nations, I acquired the ability to translate and often times teach others in the English language.

As an English teacher, I will add to the global perspective and culture of Gloii Korea ESL and provide valued insight from my extensive writing and travel experiences. From my experience as a Departmental Analyst, I will provide a high caliber in teaching the English language as well as research and analytical skills from working in the Research, Analysis and Data Unit. As a Pastoral Assistant/Overseer of Administration, I assisted in the management, organization and implementation of various groups and structures as an organization. These experiences will positively impact and greatly add to Gloii Korea ESL as well as add to my ability to teach and interact with students.

With my work experiences, I will be able to effectively provide teaching, analytical and evaluative skills to guide students and maintain a high level of professionalism along with exemplary communication, planning and organizational skills that are required for this position.

Sincerely,

Danielle Chun

To begin with, I have 7 years of English education experience altogether. Moreover, I have a TESOL degree, so I am highly informed on how to teach first language and especially ESL students. I chose to get a teaching degree but it is my passion and joy to see others enjoy learning. I am very organized and creative. At my current job in Korea, I have had to make so much supplementary materials and a lot of them I made from scratch myself. I am very loving towards students but can also give a healthy and appropriate amount of discipline by showing students what they did right or wrong. I hope I am the right person for this job.

Alice: United Kingdom: Sep 01, 2019

Alice: United Kingdom: Sep 01, 2019

I would be an excellent candidate for this role as I have a strong desire to start a career in teaching English and I am a native English speaker from the UK. I have a great amount of experience and skills, as well as many strengths and characteristics which would make me a great ESL Teacher.

To begin with, I have a lot of work experience gained through a variety of roles. I first took an interest in working with children when I completed a two-week work placement during high school working within a nursery. During this placement, I gained experience working with children between the ages of 3 to 5, and I enjoyed assisting the nursery teachers in organising activities and games to play with the children. I gained experience working in a team with the other teachers, as well as experience working independently and supervising small groups of children during activities, which was really enjoyable and fulfilling to assist in their learning. More recently, I have been working on the Visitor Team in an art gallery in the UK for the past three years. This role has provided me with a lot of experience with communicating with a wide range of people, including children of all ages and I have enjoyed talking to children and teaching them about the art and artists on display in the museum. In this role, I have also organised and delivered arts and craft activities and workshops for families and their children, which will be advantageous for this role as a teacher, as I have had experience coming up with engaging and creative activities as well as supervising a group of 10 – 20 children in workshops. I have also had experience in speaking to large groups in this role, as I have delivered tours of the museum to people of all ages, including children and students. Through my role at the museum, I have also received training including emergency first aid at work, health and safety, and fire awareness and evacuation. Therefore, I have had a lot of work experience in public facing roles and working with children, which will help me in the role as an ESL Teacher.

I also have many great skills gained through my work experience and university. I developed excellent verbal and written communication skills whilst studying for my BA (Hons) History of Art degree through writing many essays and have also gained great presentation and public speaking skills through doing presentations to small groups. I have further developed my communication and public speaking ability through delivering tours to smaller and larger groups at the art gallery and through managing the main reception desk and answering enquiries. I have good IT skills and have the ability to use a variety of Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook gained during university and through my current role, as I have had to create spreadsheets and deliver presentations to my team and other departments at the museum. I am very organised, motivated and I have a great skill in time management and ability to meet deadlines, gained through completing assignments at university and organising the art workshops in my current role.

Also, I have many strengths in regards to my characteristics and personality traits which really match those needed for an ESL Teacher. I’m very kind, caring and nurturing, as well as very empathetic which will be important when understanding and addressing student’s individual needs. I am also very sociable, friendly and approachable which will allow the students to feel welcomed and comfortable during lessons. I am a great listener which is essential for the role when answering questions from the students and listening to any worries or concerns they have in regards to their English skills. I am very creative, artistic and very organised, which will help me to plan engaging and varied classes and activities.

Therefore, I believe I would be a great teacher and I see this job as the perfect opportunity to utilise my strengths, experience and skills and a unique chance for further development and as an enriching experience. I have previously visited South Korea and would be thrilled at the opportunity to live and teach my language in Korea and hope to learn Korean also which would help my teaching also.

William: United Kingdom: Sep 01, 2019

I would say that I have an array of strengths that would make me an asset in any ESL school. First, I have extensive experience in both professional and voluntary ESL work. I have a combined total of over four years of working with non-native English speakers. I received my first TEFL qualifications in 2012 and worked with groups of foreign workers and their families in my University town. I then went on to work for Chungdahm Learning, a reputable Hagwon, in Bundang, South Korea. I stayed there for 15 months. In 2016 I earned both my TEFL Young Learners and CELTA qualifications while living in Edinburgh, before moving to Fujian province, China. There, I worked with another after school ESL provider, and quickly moved from teacher to Academic Coordinator (essentially managing my own branch) within my first year. In March of this year, I left China but continued working with Chinese students through an online learning provider, Say ABC. This range of placements has allowed me to become much better acquainted with the needs of non-native learners who are trying to improve their English skills.
Second, I would say that my personality would make me an ideal match for your school. I am approachable (something that made me both an adept Senior Teacher and Academic Coordinator), creative, hard-working, and enthusiastic. I also like to have fun in whatever I do, and I feel confident that my current students especially would say that I like to have them work hard but also enjoy themselves in class.
Last, I would say that I have a skill-set that is highly suited to this industry. I'm passionate about working with learners, and this is demonstrated by my strong feedback (98% positive from March to present) from my current students and their parents. I am also highly flexible as demonstrated by my extensive work history, but also by the different types of students I've worked with (at York in Fujian I worked with learners aged 3 to 16 years, and enjoyed each age group immensely). I am also highly organised, and in each of the above locations I worked full time hours while planning my own classes, providing customised lesson materials, and providing tailored feedback for students: all in a timely manner. Not to mention that I have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Jeanette: United States: Sep 01, 2019

I have been teaching ESL for 6 years. I taught ESL both in America and Asia. Specifically, I taught English in South Korea from 2014-2017. During that time, I have taught a varied group of students from kindy to adults from gifted to special education. My special education classes were actually my favorite. They were challenging classes but I felt that it was a very rewarding experience to work with these types of students.

On top of this, I have also worked corporate jobs in Human Resources and in administration. I have taught both English and Spanish to adult students for business purposes as well. I am very patient, warm, kind yet still very professional.

In addition to my extensive work experience, I have a bacherlors degree in FLL and a TESOL certificate. This year I have completed a teacher certification program so that I can obtain an official teaching license. Teaching is truly my passion.

I will be in Seoul from June 20th until June 25th before going back home. I hope that we can arrange an interview and mock lesson. Below you can find my CV and photo attached. I can send a professional visa type photo later this week. I look forward to hearing back from you. I hope that you have a great day!

Morgan: United States: Sep 01, 2019

My name is Morgan Crier and I am a graduate of Louisiana State University with a major in International Studies. I chose this major because I am passionate about culture which led me to apply to teach abroad. I want to immerse myself in another culture while also doing something meaningful. Teaching abroad is meaningful to me because I am a firm believer that education is a powerful tool. By teaching abroad I will provide children with a tool to pave their futures. Equally, I too will be paving a future for myself towards being a more globally minded citizen.

I have extensive experience working with children, beginning in high school. In high school I worked as a summer camp counselor for Hammond High School’s Torbotics Summer Camp. Torbotics Summer Camp is a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) day camp for children ages 6-14. At the summer camp children were divided into smaller groups based on their age. Having worked at the summer camp all four years of my high school career I gained experience working with all different age groups. My duties at the summer camp included creating lesson plans with my fellow team leaders based on the objectives of the day. I would then implement and facilitate the lesson plan guiding and assisting the students in reaching the objectives.

My experience working with kids doesn’t stop in high school though. In college I volunteered on Fridays at the Boys and Girls which is an after school program for elementary to high school children. However, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club that I volunteered at was catered towards elementary aged children. At the Boys and Girls Club I assisted the students with their homework as well as facilitated group activities.

Haelee: United States: Aug 12, 2019

I just recently graduated from Western Washington University with my BA from the College of Fine and Performing Arts, so as far as experience in this particular field goes I don't really have any. But during my time in college I was a housing ambassador for the university, that meant that I welcomed perspective students and parents into my dorm and answered any questions about the college that they might have had. This job taught me communication skills, problem solving and how to create a welcoming environment to make those visiting feel comfortable. And although my schedule didn't allow me time to volunteer on a regular basis, I did sit in on some of the classes that were to help the Japanese transfer students or AUAP students with their English skills. I was always interested in helping out these students, I wanted to try and make their stay in America as enjoyable as it could be. I know since I am freshly graduated I am inexperienced, but I would love to learn and share my knowledge with others.
I would say i'm a optimistic person but I also know how to be a realist. I like to look on the brighter side of things and see the best in people, but I also know when to be rational. I try to make the best of bad situations and I truly believe laughter is the best medicine. One of the reasons I pursued art in college was because I see my art as a way to share happiness with others, and the one thing I want to be able to do more then anything else is to see others smile because of something I created or contributed to. I want to grow and change, I strive to become a better me everyday. I believe you should always want to learn and that you should always seek out opportunities that allow you to learn.
In regards of my skills, although most of my skills are art based I am a well rounded individual. I am the most knowledge in the fields of photography, animation, drawing and printing, as those were the main things that I studied while in college. But I also do babysit for my relatives and look after my 4 year old cousins, so I have experience with working with younger kids. And through working as a housing ambassador in college I have learned how to problem solve in unexpected situations and I also learned that communication is key. I don't speak Korean even though I am a half Korean Asian-American, English is my first language and the only language I can speak, read, and write. But I do want to learn more about my Korean heritage and I want to start learning the language.

Ross: United States: Aug 01, 2019

I recently completed my CELTA certification at ACE Cambodia. During my training I developed a strong rapport with my students. I am easy to approach and the student were comfortable asking me questions. This comfort level also gave them the confidence to try new and difficult aspects of the English language without being afraid to make mistakes. They knew that we would talk over any error and that I would never be judgmental or harsh.

Before taking my CELTA course I worked in the Atlanta office of Diamond State Insurance as a property underwriter. I worked on the middle market property team where I grew my book of business from one million to over three million in premium. I was in charge of negotiation, writing contracts, and marketing for the company. I was also responsible for building broker relationships by keeping in close contact over the phone, emails, and through personal visits. Before working at Diamond State Insurance, I worked at Zurich Insurance Group, where I was selected as a systems expert for the Southeast region. I trained new employees in Atlanta, Schaumburg and Dallas to use the system and help them develop the skills necessary to become an underwriting assistant at Zurich.

At both companies I was known for my hard work, strong enthusiasm and interpersonal skills. I have a BA in History from Virginia Tech. Although I haven't worked in the history field as a profession, it is still my passion. I love to go to museums, read historical books and documentaries. I feel I would be a great asset to your organization due to my experience, work ethic and social skills.
