ESL Teachers

Currently, I am on maternity leave from work for Chungdahm Learning in Busan. I worked in Seoul for 3 years before transferring to the Busan branch within the same company. I was promoted to Head Instructor in May before leaving Seoul, and upon arriving in Busan, I continued in a management position as a Team Manager. This position required that I serve as a liaison between the company’s headquarters, the Korean management team, and the Instructors. I also reviewed CCTV of the teachers and compiled reports about their strengths and weaknesses; and offered my support to bolster those weaknesses. In my role as a teacher, I have worked with students in the age range of five to fifteen-years old. When working with basic to intermediate level students, I help them with reading and listening comprehension, as well as speaking and writing skills. My company focuses on preparing students for the TOEFL examination, so my experience is geared towards this goal. For the Master level course, we discuss English Literature. This challenges me to talk about difficult topics and concepts, while also balancing the cultural sensitivity of the students and parents. In addition, I have used, and have become more proficient, with Smart TVs, Samsung tablets, and Microsoft Office. I must also prepare detailed reports on the progress of my students, including their strengths, weaknesses, and suggestions for improvement. Twice I have had the fortune of being named Best Teacher and have won a company-wide competition for my branch. This is all written to illustrate my commitment is not only to my students, but to the company as well. On a personal note, what has kept me in the company for so long are the students. There have been many times that I have been weighed down by the stresses of life or maybe had a particularly challenging day, but then once I am in the classroom with my students it all melts away. They make me laugh, but also inspire me to work harder for their growth and improvement. I always work hard for my students, even the ones that channel their anger towards me or feel no reason to try, I don't give up.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an English native speaker, seeking to embark experience in the teaching English as a foreign language field by bringing enthusiasm, dedication and resilience to a school establishment preferably in the country location of South Korea, Seoul.

To work closely with teaching colleagues that I can learn from, as well as identify, plan and deliver results of the highest quality of sharing my knowledge in the English language. To inspire students and play a key role in helping the designated school to maximize its teaching potential. In addition, I am also completing the advanced 120-hour TEFL course with enjoy-TEFL.

I am currently in full-time employment in London and would need to provide one months’ notice under my employment contract if I am successful enough to be provided a teaching program. I graduated from my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work degree in July 2018.

The last two employment roles that I worked under were both as a care coordinator, and I believe the experience that I gained can be transferable to a classroom as I had to maintain effective communication and professionalism at all times, whether that included on the telephone, face to face or in written communication. My responsibilities also included meeting deadlines, as well as the ability to cope under pressure at all times, remaining calm and patient when supporting service users.

I am a newly qualified TEFL teacher looking for a career change.
I have been working in research in public health since graduating my honors at university. Through my degree related work I have found myself in the classroom, teaching high school learners. While doing so I have enjoyed myself and have a newly found passion for teaching. What better way to explore this than teaching English as a foreign language I thought! Whilst been in the classroom I have found my strengths as a teacher. The students also did not speak English as a first language so I got a feel of what it would be like in an ESL classroom.
I am especially interested in teaching in South Korea because of the wonderful scenery and culture of the people. I have heard how safe it is as well which is something I would really appreciate in a city, as its not very safe where I live. Also not forgetting how delicious South Korean food!

My previous workplace experience ensured that I developed strong time management and communication skills, and an ability to resolve interpersonal conflict. An example of how I utilized and developed these skills is the kennels is assisted in managing, there was a strict schedule that had each job organised down to the hour it had to be completed by. I was in charge of ensuring that all staff in every building, including myself remained on schedule and that the tasks were completed properly.
I have experience in demanding work environments which has given me the ability to manage stress effectively and remain calm. This is especially useful when working with children, as I have done in the past when working in a stables where children's pony clubs, summer camps and lessons are done on a regular schedule. I have found that children respond best to someone who is cheerful but remains calm and clear.
I am very independent which makes it much easier for me to travel away from home for extended periods of time. However I also enjoy working as part of a team, my work in the stables relied on having a team who worked together effectively and helped me develop a good capacity to work cohesively with others. I enjoy setting challenges and strong goals for myself, it ensures that I achieve any goals set out by my employer and that I am more than willing to take on extra work or projects.

My teaching experience includes working in China for nearly three years. With my first job in Beijing I worked for an English training school and Kindergarten. I then worked for Beijing Royal Foreign Language School, a top international boarding private school. My teaching experience there has been with large classes in grades 2,3 and 5. I also helped run the schools ‘’Global Scholars’’ program, with grades 5 and 6.

Following on from this I worked as a homeroom teacher in Seoul at YBM PSA. Here I got to experience the more hands on elements of homeroom teaching and together with my two Korean colleagues thought a class of 20 students. This also afforded me the opportunity to teach new subjects. After completing my time in Korea I returned to BRS to teach grade 5 for another year.

My continual training and work in both these schools in China and my experience in Korea has given me a very good grasp of the key mechanism for teaching through English as a foreign language, and how to best apply these in a classroom environment.

I have also previously worked in the Irish Military. My experiences in the Irish Defence Forces have great relevance to teaching in China, as they have instilled in me a great sense of personal responsibility and high standards of professional and personal conduct. My time in the army also provided me with many opportunities to give History lectures.

With my teaching I hope to maximize my student’s individual performance while simultaneously providing an engaging and enjoyable classroom experience. Hopefully my teaching will inspire their passion for learning, encourage their personal growth and further their professional aspirations.

I am very passionate towards students’ education, progress and development. I have always wanted to see students improving and developing their skills in areas I could help them with, and I believe that with being an English teacher I would be able to give the students my best in order to see them develop valuable skills for their future. I have experience in tutoring students from elementary to high school online. I also have experience in teaching through a volunteering program, where I taught students ages form 8-13 years old general English in South Korea. As for other experiences, I taught elementary level adult students general English in order to satisfy the requirements of my Diploma of TESOL.

I originally become interested in teaching when I was in college with the goal of becoming an ESL teacher. I started my career in a sales position and progressed to more ‘hands on’ educational and serviceable roles supporting sellers within my organization. However, I have always found myself volunteering with children in and out of classrooms through various programs. I’ve helped teach classrooms of children, mentored high schoolers and taught kindergarteners through my church’s Sunday school program. I am certain my business and volunteer experience will provide a unique professional, structured and playful environment conducive to effective learning with students.

As a teacher of English as a Second Language, I will provide a motivational, structured and fun environment with meaningful language learning that is able to address the strengths and weaknesses of each student.

Through my university assignments I have learnt to have good time management skills and good knowledge of written and spoken English. I am computer literate with a variety of different software. I have the abilities to work independently and in a group setting.

Throughout my time at university I held a few different employment roles, which have helped to build my confidence. These roles have been customer facing so were variable and unpredictable. Having to problem solve any issues, as well as making sure that I completed all the tasks for the day. Time management skills and being punctual were a very important part of theses roles.

For the past two years, I have been volunteering with a local Girlguiding UK Brownie group with children aged 6 – 11. I work closely with the leader to plan and run all the weekly activities, incorporating the general programme set by the organisation. Working with this age group has really boosted my ability and confidence to deal with any situation that presents and thinking on my feet, as activities with this age group, often do not go to plan.

I believe that with these combined skills and experiences, I would provide a positive contribution to your school.

I don't have much experience in the teaching industry, however I did spend a week as a teaching assistant in a primary school in the UK in 2013. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and have since been interested in pursuing this.
