ESL Teachers

I love educating people and I believe in cultural exchange. Teaching abroad will allow me to experience the best of both worlds. I have 2 years of experience working in Education with Chicago Public Schools as a Paraprofessional. My role was to assist the teacher with daily class instruction. I worked with any age range between 8-14 years. I love to laugh, make nw connections. I love making music which I plan to implement in my lessons where its appropriate. My know how to relate to kids very well, and they usually like me within the first week. I get alone well with professional colleagues which is a plus.

Skills:
I have recently graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London in English Literature. From my degree and schooling education I have learned to become observant, communicative and manage time effectively. From the volunteering I have completed over the years it has allowed me to become confident, show leadership skills and understand others in an empathetic way. Furthermore, through part time jobs I have learned to show excellent customer service and organisational skills.

Personality:
I am known to be talkative albeit shy at first. I pride myself on my time management and organisational skills which I have been complimented for many times. In my free time, I enjoy hiking which I did a lot of during the months of lockdown! I also painting scenic imagery and love to read books. The genre I read the most tends to be historical fiction or non-fiction. I also have an Instagram blog where I rate, review and recommend books.

Experience:
I have had many part time jobs in customer service/ retail related jobs which have helped me deal with people appropriately and gain a lot of patience. During my second year of university, I tutored GCSE students English Literature which has motivated me to go into a career of teaching.

My name is Hope Warren and I am an English graduate and communications professional holding a 120-hour TEFL certification. I have over 100 hours experience teaching ESL online to children.

I have a passion for communications and the English language which I love to share with eager learners. In my experience so far, teaching has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done. The feeling of seeing a student’s pride when they have mastered a new set of vocabulary or grammar point fulfils me, and I want to use my skills to help as many students as I can to achieve their goals. As a teacher I am patient, encouraging and kind, as I believe students learn best in a positive, comfortable environment. I am a reliable and dedicated teacher with a perfect attendance and punctuality record, so you can always rely on me to be on time and prepared to teach at the start of every lesson.

I spent some time in South Korea in 2016 and was astounded by this beautiful country. I have been dreaming about returning ever since, so when I decided I wanted to teach abroad, Korea was an obvious first choice. Upon doing my research, I found this job posting on the TEFL org website and it sounds like the perfect opportunity that I am seeking. I love the fun and unpredictability that working with children brings, and in my experience as an online ESL teacher I have learned the importance of being creative and adaptable.

I possess an MA in Literature and Publishing and have worked as an English language teacher in six countries over a span of 14 years. This has included teaching second language learners of all ages and nationalities in a variety of different settings: universities, high schools, private English schools and summer camps. I have also taught English for a number of varying purposes: general use, professional use and preparation for exams. In addition, I have experience providing corporate training in English language editing for native speaker employees within a company in China. My English language expertise has been broadened and deepened by my experience working as a copy editor and technical writer. I would describe myself as open-minded, adaptable, patient and eager to take on new challenges and to accrue new experiences.

As someone who has worked in a foreign country for a year prior to this year, I was interested to see the vacancy you had open in Korea to teach English as a profession and feel this is something I could excel in. Having had the experience of working in Spain before, it is something I would like to continue to do and I feel that teaching is a calling that I cannot ignore.

I have great people skills as well as a calming personality, that I have used to develop myself. I have also had experience in training fellow colleagues in previous professions including when I worked in Spain. During lockdown I completed my TEFL course, achieving my certificate which acknowledges the completion of 168 hours of online courses in which I feel confident enough in my ability to teach professionally in Korea.

I feel I would thrive in this type of working environment as It think it would give me the chance to prove myself in a new field and so the prospect of a new challenge is an exciting one to me. For what I may lack in teaching experience I will more than make up for with hard work and determination to accommodate this. I feel the opportunity to teach English is something that I would personally find fulfilling as I would be teaching people a skill they can use for life which is something completely different to anything I have done before.

Throughout the years I have been teaching, I have gained experience in catering for the learning needs of students. I have had the opportunity to work with students that have disabilities and specific learning needs who require additional support. To best support students, I always ensure my lesson plans incorporate differentiation and resources that allow students to excel in their academic learning to the best of their abilities. Moreover, as a teacher I have always considered feedback important as it allows students to identify their strengths and areas of improvement and I therefore have always provided detailed and explicit feedback to my students. In the past years of teaching, I have worked with students with challenging behaviour and obtained a deep understanding about behaviour management.

In terms of my personality, I consider myself a teacher that is firm and fair with students. I have always had a positive relationship with my students inside the classroom but I am also assertive when addressing behavioural problems and giving instructions to students. I often tell jokes in my class to create a positive environment and always prepare engaging activities for my students. Personally, I am a kind, patient and supportive person that likes helping people and I have an artistic side (painting, drawing, henna art and ceramics).

I have good technological skills; I am familiar with Google Docs, Zoom, Microsoft software and with other digital platforms. I also have good communications skills and have always had a positive relationship with my colleagues and the school staff I have worked with.

I have been living and working in different parts of Korea since August 2015. During that time I have also acquired over 5 years of teaching English experience to students of all age ranges, kindergartners through adults. Therefore, I am flexible with teaching styles as well as planning or following different kinds of curriculums.

Having worked in a professional environment for the past six years I have a proven track record of providing excellent results, maintaining a high professional standard and going above and beyond in my professional work. I am looking to continue working to the highest standard when I make the transition to teaching English in South Korea. I believe that I would be a great asset to any team.

I always like to challenge myself and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to teach English in South Korea, I hope that the experience will provide new perspective on working as well has help me develop new skills and provide the opportunity to meet new people. I am hard working, adventurous and independent. I believe I am someone who can be relied on to complete work independently without constant supervision.

In preparation of teaching English in South Korea I have completed a 188-Hour TEFL Certificate. I have previous experience working with children through volunteering to provide sports lessons for children in local schools and through a volunteer position as a soccer coach at a local school, where I taught soccer to children aged 5-8.

I am a friendly person who is always willing to go the extra mile for people, I hope that I have the opportunity to join a team and provide a great service to my students so they can get the most out of learning English. I am very much a people person and have a kind personality that I hope will endear myself to my students.
