ESL Teachers

Despite my degree being in literature, I minored in cultural studies which included but wasn't limited to sociology, psychology, education and so forth. Due to the extensiveness of my educational practice, I got to intern in multiple classroom settings. I had the opportunity to intern at a culture based daycare to teach Japanese to children ages 2-5 and to be an assistant teacher in a social justice literature class with students age 14-16. Outside of internship experiences, I was also a classroom aid at the local daycare near my college and also volunteered to teach Japanese at the accommodating elementary school. During the summers, I worked at day camps with children from low-income families ages 4-16. Through these diverse experiences I was able to learn how to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to the environment. I was also able to gather a sense of leadership and teamwork by having the chance to both lead and assist in classroom settings.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this as I am very interested in your available teaching position and believe I would be perfect for the position. I have just completed my History degree at Queen’s University Belfast and am expected to graduate with a 2:1 in July. I am hoping to pursue a career in education and completed a TEFL qualification in my final year in order to get closer to this goal. I became interested in teaching when I started to help other children learn to read in 2016 and after this I joined a programme within my high school where I gave aid to disabled children who also went to my school. I believe that this experience working with children in the past will help me get a head start at being an excellent teacher.

I am known for my positive attitude but I'd like to hope that others believe me to be reliable and hardworking also! I love coming up with new interactive activities and hope I can use these in the classroom one day. I would like to start my career by not only teaching children English but being able to teach others my culture and fully immerse myself in their culture also.

I also have experience with the Japanese language as I have been learning for the past three years. I have now reached a conversational level and would like to start learning other languages. Not only this but I have experience working in many retail jobs which has taught me how to work as a part of a team and the in’s and out’s of the workplace. I would be love to start my career in education in Korea and I hope I hear from you soon.

I am a native English speaker and have experience of studying and teaching at a university-level in the UK. I am currently finishing a PhD in Film Studies at University College London (UCL), having previously studied BA History and MA Film Studies at the same institution. I have considerable teaching experience, having taught at both BA and MA levels in UCL’s History and Film Studies departments, as well as experience teaching high school students. While the age groups are different to elementary children, I believe many of the core teaching skills are transferable. An engaging presentation style, patience, energy, and enthusiasm, for example, are all attributes that I would bring to the position. Most importantly I love children and am both passionate and committed to helping and challenging students reach their full potential.

In 2018 I took part in a teacher training course offered by UCL which developed my teaching skills. The course focused on offering practical advice on teaching practices and methods to create an effective and comfortable learning environment. It really developed my teaching practices, and much of the advice learnt on this course would be transferable to this position too. I am currently undertaking TEFL training, to further my teaching skills. I intend to obtain the 120-hour certificate by the end of this month.

Alongside past teaching experience I have many other skills and attributes to bring to the role. I have, for example, excellent time management, problem solving, and organisational skills. I am also a creative person, enjoying art and crafts in my spare time. I am confident in my ability to work independently but also enjoy working with others as part of a team. Generally, I am enthusiastic and hardworking, and take a fun, positive approach to all tasks and activities.

I have worked in a variety of jobs, all of which have taught me unique, valuable skills. In these jobs, I have been to over 40 countries and encountered countless people from all over the world. It has made me more openminded and boosted my social and communication skills.
I have worked in many different teams and I have learnt I thrive in social environments, the main reason for this is because I enjoy socialising. I am no stranger to hard work, I worked 7 days a week on a cruise ship for over a year, I take pride in my work and strive to make everyone I work with enjoy what they’re doing. My outgoing personality helps me to do this as I connect with people and aim to bring out the best in them.
While working on the cruise ship as a photographer I would take group pictures, ranging from 2-100+ people. This was a great way for me to speak with large groups while communicating my ideas to them and instructing them in a precious manner. It was also a job which helped me maintain patience and a calm attitude.

I am a recent graduate from Boston University, where I studied Economics and Korean. Currently, I work in the finance field; however, I am looking to transition to a career in teaching.

I understand that this can be seen as an odd jump, but I believe that my personality and skill set may be an excellent fit for teaching. I pride myself on my time management skills, resilience, and understanding. When teaching, I hope to be flexible and resilient and adjust to working with others and my fellow students effectively.

Outside of my current professional experience, I also have experience working with students in various capacities. I worked as an admissions associate at my university, where I worked with high school students, held information sessions, and taught them about the college process. I also have experience tutoring SAT Math to individuals.

My strengths are that I am a good communicator and am able to listen and evaluate different opinions reasonably. I am also able to adjust easily to new environments and work with others to achieve the best outcome for any project. As, a recent University graduate I have become more efficient with the work I do and am able to manage through hard situations and take initiative when needed. Also, when working as a Tutor for AVID, I became responsible for middle school and high school students by leading them to complete their work and ask questions if they didn't understand concepts being taught to them. As an AVID tutor you have to motivate students to achieve their own understanding instead of just presenting them the answer, which can be difficult for students but with asking the right questions it will eventually lead them to it. From my experience of being a University student and Tutor, specifically, I have learned how to adjust to new environment and people as well as engage/ motivate students to learn and ask questions to get a better understanding from what they are taught. Through past experience with working as a teacher’s assistance and tutor, it has allowed me to develop communication skills needed to effectively assist and teach middle school and high school students. Additionally, it has allowed me to gain confidence in being able to adapt to all students’ needs and learning levels. It has also allowed me to develop traits that make a teacher efficient with communicating with students and make them more engage in their learning.

Throughout my career, I have had many experiences as a teacher, specifically as a senior trainer at Kings wood camp in Guangzhou and while teaching university exchange students as an assistant language teacher in Sheffield. These experiences have led me to growing my skills as a teacher.

These are some of the skills I can bring to your school

Interactive and Informative lesson – During my time teaching I have been able to create interactive lessons that are both enjoyable and educational for all my students. From these lessons I truly believe that I was able to motive my students, easily obtain there full attention and get them work at their maximum potential, no matter how challenging the lesson was.

Work effectively in a group setting – Throughout my career I have always been able to effectively work in a group setting. From working in a gym or sales environment too working in public and private education settings. Being able to work effectively in a team was essential for my career as I often faced demanding task that required a strong group cohesion.

I am currently at Sheffield University studying East Asian Studies. Spending a lot of time within South Korea and already having taught Korean students I believe I can fit in quickly to your schools environment and apply my skills as a teacher efficiently.

I am a very passionate and caring person with an enthusiasm for education. I love learning and I love teaching, particularly languages. I have 6 months of experience teaching as a volunteer English teacher in Hanoi Vietnam. I taught as a volunteer as I wanted to practice teaching and gain some experience. I also taught in many classes and schools of all ages and sizes as a cover teacher. Since then I have taught English online with DaDaABC for over a year.

My main skills in teaching are my patience and clear pronunciation. Students have always found my accent very easy to understand, and my speaking speed is suitable to students of all skill levels. I am very patient with my students, I understand how difficult learning a new language can be, so I encourage practice and repitition, while making my classes as fun as possible for my students.

As a recent graduate of the TEFL Org programme, I have a keen interest in perusing my career in the field of education. After gaining some experience in the educating young children during my university experience, through the Teddy Bear Hospital charity programme, I became enthusiastic to further this interest and use my language skills to educate others.

My time at the Teddy Bear Hospital involved teaching primary school children about their experiences at the doctor and dentist, to ease their fears about their visits. I was able to design lessons to create fun and interactive classes for the children, and as a result the children were captivated and their worries about attending hospital and dentist appointments were lessened. The practical teaching skills that I gained varied from: confidence and proactivity in a classroom setting to classroom control and adapting lessons to fit a particular group of students. Witnessing the children’s progression and curiosity in the class first-hand was the main motivating factor that led me to desire a career in teaching.

Furthermore, during my TEFL course I was able to have the opportunity to practise my teaching skills on several occasions. The course involved planning and teaching PPP structured lessons for grammar and vocabulary and a reading lesson with a skills-based lesson structure. This enabled me to gain the confidence needed when teaching English lessons specifically and improved my skills when designing classes to be interactive and fascinating.

Completing a degree in Graphic and Communication Design at the University of Leeds and working in the field of design, has also been highly beneficial, as it often involved presenting work to a large group of peers. This enabled me to improve my public speaking and presenting skills, as well as allowed me to find ways to intrigue and capture the attention of individuals in a topic that might not always be enticing to them. Working alongside a design team on a daily basis, at Hybream Consultants, with unique and differing individuals, and therefore ideas; I was able to master adapting ideas to suit all members of the group. This advanced my skills in conflict management, problem solving and communication. The creativity I have acquired from these experiences will be valuable in creating a fun and interactive classroom environment for students of all ages.
