A-Level/IELTS Teachers

To whom it may concern,

I would like to submit my resume for the position of English teacher which you are currently advertising. Biology and the natural world are a subject I have a passion for and would like to the opportunity to help this and the next generation advance within this subject in an educational setting.

As of 2017, I graduated from Bath Spa University in Biology (conservation) with Honours and during this time covered a core range of subjects including Ecology; Animal & Plant Biology; Biodiversity; Sustainability; Psychology; animal behaviour & environmental consultancy.

As of January 2019, I have just completed my first-year teaching English in China (Ningbo). During my time with EF, I discovered an aptitude for teaching and would like to enhance my skills further. In addition to this, I learnt the skills necessary to help students independently or as part of a group understand course material through discussion & debate and practical exercises in the classroom and homework.

I also obtained a degree in animal behaviour & psychology which I received in 2014. During which, we examined the effects of animal behaviour in captivity and the wild and why the importance of ecosystems were pivotal towards continued biological balance. In addition, I have spent time working on African conservation reserves in South Africa collecting data towards annual reserve reports of current diversity levels and projected future costs. This experience helped develop real life experience within the scientific community.

Continuing on from previous experience, I have also worked on conservation projects based on animal reintroduction. In particular, cheetah breeding and rewilding. This is a project very close to myself as I participated near its inception and have returned to see its continued development. A project I keep close contact with and hope to support their continued success.

I believe I would add a lot of experience to your team and would be able to provide knowledge and contribute to an established team looking to progress forward in the future and beyond.

I see the importance of team work as a key factor towards self-development of ourselves and any students we work with. The forming of these relationships acts as a positive reinforcer towards the students and helps to build positive teacher-student relationships with the ultimate aim of increasing learning outcomes set.

In Addition, I have also held positions from various backgrounds outside the teaching community and feel this type of real-life experience would be beneficial towards the students and give them an advantage when asking for advice.

I have over 2 decades in many aspects of ESL in Korea, I have taught all age of students from children from preschool to seniors, from all walks of life ranging from special needs students up to the heads of million dollar companies. The nature of my experience is greater than the sum of its parts. By having accumulated a wide range of teaching knowledge it allows me to have knowledge and solutions that even more experienced people may lack due to having only specialized in one field.
I think my skills are a little difficult to specify upon. I would really welcome the opportunity for an interview, so I may know more specifically know your requirements and give you a response that is tailored to your needs.
My personality is very compassionate, caring and loyal. Life however has taught me many hard lessons, so I do well at retaining my composure, and do remain professional even in situations many people would find trying. I do like the choice and opportunity to learn new things. I do like structure as well. If asked what my worst characteristic is, I would have to admit that I like well-defined processes and situations. Situations where there sudden large-scale change is requested with less than 24 hours notice give me a great deal of stress. I think though, that I have learned to keep this under control and that my stress is not noticeable to any, but those who have come to know me very well. This stress is also greatly reduced when even though a sudden change is requested, that I can see my peers and superiors have a compassionate mind and act in an understanding manner, even if the sudden change is unavoidable.
