I am very comfortable working with and managing groups of children, a skill developed through my experiences working as a nanny, helping run a vacation bible school program, babysitting younger family members, and tutoring.
I am also currently enrolled in a 120 Hr TOEFL course, as well as a Teaching English to Young Learners TOEFL Specialist Course, both to be completed this month (July 2019). While in university, I also took an education course aimed at showing teachers how to effectively improve student literacy and fluency in English.
I also believe my personality makes me especially well-suited to a foreign teaching position. After spending a semester in Shanghai–and interning at Intel Shanghai for a summer–I am very flexible and capable of thriving in different environments where English is not the primary language of communication. Working abroad has made me patient and very empathetic. I have studied four languages throughout my life and am accordingly familiar with the struggles of language learners and can connect with them in ways that I believe will make me an effective teacher. I have a real passion for the English language and would love the opportunity to share this excitement with my students.
My internships have made me comfortable with managing larger groups and speaking in public. I feel fully confident in my classroom management skills and my ability to communicate lessons effectively.
Overall, I believe my experiences have shaped me into a person capable of being an effective teacher who makes her students excited to learn.
