I have extensive experience working as an ESL teacher. I worked at an afterschool English school in Japan for six months in 2020. I taught English to children from 3 – 17 years old. There was a high degree of responsibility included in the job as I was the only teacher in room with as many as 12 young students.

In terms of my personality, I would say I am kind, compassionate and patient. I love working with children, especially teaching. It is very satisfying when they start to understand what you are teaching them and they can use the language they are taught.

I am an avid learner of languages. I know four languages at the moment: English, German, Serbian and Japanese. I would be interested in also learning Korean in the near future.
I am currently working on my level 5 TEFL certificate which I will finish this month.

I am a native English speaker. I have a Bachelors Degree and a TEFL certificate. I would like to relocate with my partner. I would be able to stay for the entire duration of the contract. I am a hardworking, honest and outspoken individual. I am good with computers. I like working with kids. I would like to travel and learn more about other cultures.

As an Engineer and a former Team Leader, I found daily teaching opportunities at work and have developed the way I help colleagues to understand difficult concepts. It was often expected of me to help people understand the signal processing concepts in a way that suited them. These ‘teaching moments’ involved maths, equations, or problem solving.

After finding this aspect of my job so enjoyable, I began volunteering with young people aged 10-14 years as a Scout Leader in 2018. This role allowed me to teach young people life skills, social skills and just generally share information with them in a teaching or mentor capacity. For example, I developed a game to help the Scouts understand how world trading works between different economies, and co-ordinated the young people in a workshop where we played it. Further to this experience with young people, I helped to raise my youngest sister, who is twelve years my junior. I helped her with her studies and whatever skills she wanted to improve.

Generally, I am a cheerful, calm go-getter. I like gaining new experiences and enjoy chances to improve myself or my skills. Even if I make mistakes, I look at them as learning opportunities and creative ways to either work with or around problems. These parts of my personality have led me to take a sabbatical from Engineering in order to move abroad with my wife (Alice Bagnall, who has already applied), and take on ESL teaching in order to improve the way I communicate with others and share my native English with those who can benefit from it. My strengths lie in organization, taking the initiative, remaining calm under pressure and always maintaining optimism.

I am currently working as an au pair in Italy mainly teaching a 10 and 12 year old English. Before Italy I was teaching English in a primary school in Hunan, China which I thoroughly enjoyed. Previous to moving to China, I studied Criminology at Teesside University, graduating with a 2:1. I am a positive, enthusiastic and committed individual who is willing to explore new and different opportunities. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people as I am very outgoing and love finding ways to help them and to have a positive impact on their life whether it be small or large. I am honest, trustworthy and a great team player willing to achieve any challenge given to me. I am now looking for my next adventure and teaching experience. I love experiencing new countries and cultures and I am a fun and enthusiastic teacher. I have been described as very responsible and organised and I give 100% to anything I do.

I have experience with personal and group tutoring, usually centering my lessons around team building and learning. Outside of formal and informal tutoring, I worked with my university's International Department to aid in student's learning their target language while also immersing them in American culture. My peers would describe me as fun-loving and creative, which makes me a good match for younger learners. However, I personally would describe myself as a hard working, goal-oriented, organized person, who is able to approach language teaching from different angles. I am also TEFL Certified and am currently at an intermediate level in Korean language skill.
