Being a good teacher is about engaging with the students and helping them become enthusiastic about learning new things. I am a patient and driven individual, I believe my calmness under pressure will benefit my workplace environment, if I am ever placed in a difficult situation.
I am excited to be able to teach students, I want to provide them with a safe environment where they are comfortable in practising their English.
Although I do not have tremendous amounts of experience, the experience that I have is valuable and has given me enough to know that I love to teach, and I would do anything in my power to help students improve their English and fall in love with the language at the same time. When I was still at school, I had experience helping young learners in their Maths and Reading skills plus I also taught 11 year olds the negative impact of drugs, alcohol, and smoking. These skills were transferable, and I was able to apply them to my teaching experience in Romania.
With my experience in customer service, I have learned to be adaptable and to cater to individual needs. If my teaching methods are not engaging enough, I will evaluate the situation and change my lesson plan to a different pre-planned activity (it is important to have backups).
My current job and teaching experiences has given me good communication skills and empathy that will help me to relate to the students more and aids me in identifying their needs.

I am a native English speaking person, with a Honours degree and a South African citizen. I completed my TEFL Course in September 2021.

I am a TEFL certified recent English graduate from Nottingham Trent University with a demonstrated history of experience in childcare and education. Skilled in student mentoring, and working towards proficiency in Korean and German, I aspire to be an ESL teacher and believe my experience learning a second language myself will prove useful in teaching students.

My previous experience includes babysitting children (age 5-12), volunteer teaching in pre-schools (0-5 years) and a special education school (5-18 years). Throughout school and college I also tutored younger students (age 11-12) in English. I am currently working as a host at the National Sea Life Centre, a position that involves educating children and adults about sea creatures and the animals in the aquarium.

My experience mentoring/ teaching students of different ages groups and abilities has allowed me to develop key skills such as patience, creativity and an energetic attitude.

My strengths are that I am very studious. I do not teach a topic that I do not fully understand. I have no experience teaching English as the pandemic stopped me applying for any positions. I do have experience in teaching yoga and exercise. I may teach a small class or a large class and I have to be effective at communicating which is important as participants could injure themselves. I am also an Event Technician which involves setting up festivals and corporate evetns. Deadlines must be met and insrtuctions concise as again people could injure themselves and waste valuable time.This is particulary important as sometimes an event is just about to start.

I believe that my personality is easy going in nature and I am always curious. When conducting an exercise class I only want the participants to have fun and to learn at the same time. I am puntual take my jobs seriously. If need be I am fun, fair and firm depending on the needs of the class.

I have always liked working with younger students. I have volunteered at church teaching the elementary school students ever since I was in grade 12. I've also spent many years tutoring elementary school students and adult learners for many years.

From my experience, I've learned to be very patient and to be an active listener.

I am an enthusiastic, self-driven, and professional individual with a likeable and friendly personality as well as a can-do attitude. I am a graduate from the University of Leeds receiving a 2:1 in English Literature, a degree that helped develop skills in both written and verbal communication, critical thinking and independent decision making, time management and self-organisation.

Following my graduation, I also completed a 140 hour TEFL course, receiving excellent feedback from my personal tutor (a reference letter is available upon request).

In addition to this, I also spent 6 months in a teaching assistant position within a year 4 class (age 8/9). Within this position I worked with students one-to-one, in smaller groups of 2-8, and within the general classroom. This role boosted my confidence and knowledge in working with children and my teaching skills and ability was improved through hand on experience. In addition to this my employers provided a lot of support and advice which further assisted in the development of my skills. A specific responsibility of mine within this role were the intervention groups (groups of 4-8 children) which I independently taught daily for english, grammar, and handwriting.

Currently, I am working on a temporary basis as a cover teaching assistant in a year 3 class (ages 7/8). Many of my responsibilities are similar to my previous job position, however working in a different school and with a different age of children has further boosted my experience and confidence in the classroom. I am still teaching smaller groups of children grammar, english, and maths independently, and in addition to this I also have been teaching one-to-one phonics to some of the children.

I have also volunteered with a local youth theatre company working with children ages 4-12, assisting a small team run three weekly sessions. This has given me experience in working with a wider range of children, and also combined my love of drama and the arts with my love of teaching.

As someone who is passionate both about education and learning, I will be able to pass that passion on to my future students for both the language of English, and for education as a whole. After graduating with honors from TWU with a Bachelor's in Science for History, I have shown my dedication and perseverance in not only getting a job done right, but a job done on time and a readiness to learn from any bumps along the way. Being also a member of the National Society of Leadership, I have shown that I am a natural leader that can grab the attention of my class and lead them forward in a concise, understandable manner. Along with this, I held a managerial position at one of my first jobs the moment I graduated; acting as a mentor to new workers and bringing in an air of enthusiasm for my work force as well as an aura of perfectionism I would expect of a well organized team. Shortly after this, I went to be a payroll agent at an accounting firm and quickly rose ranks to educate my fellow employees on proper server maintenance, computer based procedures, and how to handle a section of our 50+ clients. I work adamantly and efficiently to have a good job done, but more than that, I strive to build with my team/class a friendly environment where mistakes aren't discouraged, seeing these stumbles as a stepping stone to a more solidified end product.
