I’m TEFL qualified and have experience of working with children; and building working relationships with their parents through the Girl Guiding movement and babysitting.
English is my first language. Having studied English Language and English Literature at GCSE and subsequently Latin to A Level, I have a good understanding of the basis of language. I achieved well at GCSE level across a broad range of subjects (4 As and 8 Bs), which will be helpful when working across the curriculum in a Kindergarten and Elementary-level setting. I also have experience of working with teenagers, training them for various hospitality and customer-service roles.
My degree and work experience have also helped me to be organised, practical, creative, hard-working, and calm under pressure. These are all valuable skills for teaching.
My university degree in Music Production sparked my interest in South Korea and Korean culture. This has given me an appreciation of the country and a desire to experience living and working there. I have immersed myself in South Korean cooking, entertainment and am learning the language.
I have experience of travelling and visiting friends and family in North America, South Africa, and western European and Nordic countries. Travel has broadened my outlook and given me an appreciation of different countries and cultures.

I am outgoing, bubbly, resilient, self-sufficient and looking to experience living and working in a different country. I’m people orientated, respectful of others, and enjoy working and spending time with children and adults. I’m hard working and dedicated, having balanced my degree with part-time work, sport and learning a new language.

I have completed the TEFL 120 hours plus course and developed English teaching skills. I have also developed Korean language skills (spoken and written) and continue to do so. My degree has taught me to be organised, to be self-sufficient, to plan work, to undertake projects and to work in a team. My work experience in hospitality and my sports have taught me valuable people and leaderships skills.

I have a real desire to improve the lives of others by teaching English. I am a naturally enthusiastic person whose main strengths are creativity and empathy. I have a filmmaking background as a director and thus have ample experience in communicating effectively to instruct, motivate and guide people. Furthermore I am a strong visual storyteller and have designed and delivered numerous presentations using visual media and produced brand content for reputable clients and agencies. These are skills that bring a different dimension to my teaching and that make my lessons particularly appealing to young people.

I strongly believe my academic and professional skills, as well as my passion to see children excel, are well-suited to an English teaching role and I would seek to use them to help students reach their highest potential. During my first year of university I taught an after-school debate club at two different secondary schools. Even though some of the students I taught were older than elementary school children, the skills I acquired are transferable to this new ESL teaching role. These include being able to maintain discipline and control over a class, breaking down difficult topics so that they are easier to grasp and building a strong rapport with students.

One of the modules on my TEFL course was teaching young learners. Here I learned the differences that arise when it comes to teaching younger students, from learning styles to life experience and motivation. I am aware that injecting humour into my lessons as well as creating fun and engaging activities is crucial to the learning process of young learners.

For me, there's something special about seeing a student go from having little to no knowledge about a topic, then seeing the light in their eyes as they begin to understand and develop their confidence. This is one of the things that makes me passionate about teaching language.

I admire anyone who is multi-lingual or is learning a new language. As a teacher, this automatically means that I will admire my students simply for making the effort. I know what it is like to learn a new language not just from my experience learning French in school, but because I am currently also learning Korean.

From K-pop to K-dramas, amazing food that fosters a sense of community to stellar skincare products, there's so much to love about South Korea and its culture. The language alone is evidence of how important respect is to the country. While celebrations like Seollal and the recycling system show the peoples reverence for nature and taking care of the environment. It's for these reasons that I cannot wait to fully immerse myself in the rich culture and traditions of South Korea.

I'll be bringing my patience, confidence and optimism to this role. I never want my students to feel bad about possibly not understanding something as fast as others. We all learn at different paces. I will be encouraging and enthusiastic because, even without meeting them, I already believe in their capacity for success. I want to ensure that my students know that what they have to say is valid. I want them to feel heard.

I recently completed a 168-hour Level 5 TEFL course from TEFL.org. The skills and methods I learnt from this, coupled with the interpersonal and leadership skills I developed while working as a customer advisor in a shop and while volunteering to be a tutoring mentor at university, would allow me to teach a class in a fun, controlled way.

I am a driven, enthusiastic, caring and fun individual and helping other people has always been highly important to me. I volunteered for various schemes in school where I would help students. One that stands out to me is helping younger children improve their reading and English ability. Each week I would spend time reading books or articles with a student and then complete tasks based on the reading, which I had designed. This provided me with knowledge on how to tailor tasks and learning to different students, based on their needs.

I completed a 168 hour Level 5 Online TEFL course which I thoroughly enjoyed. This course covered a wide range of topics from teaching children of different ages, abilities and class sizes to teaching over the phone. This course gave me a huge insight into what makes a successful teaching environment for children and what discourages children from learning.

Sports and being active have always been passions of mine. My hobbies include running, swimming, tennis and rounders. I love playing sports with others as it allows us to bond as a team and learn how to cooperate better with one another. I volunteered to help coach younger children play rounders. I absolutely loved sharing my passion with other students and seeing them improve and learn to love a sport some of them did not enjoy, was incredible to see.

I believe a great teacher who has faith in a child's abilities and will push them to achieve the best they possibly can be; can help change a child's life forever.
